In recognition of the hitmaker's new release, the beloved pub has been unofficially renamed The Old Phone for two weeks, BBC News reported. The Suffolk native serenaded a bustling crowd inside the local pub, and a clip of the performance was shared by Ed Sheeran HQ on X. The video was captioned: "Ed brought the Old Phone Pub home. Thank you Ipswich for singing along with us!"
The video has since racked up over 50,000 views and elicited numerous comments from admirers of the four-time Grammy winner.
Fans shared their emotional experiences. One exclaimed: "I cried along to this earlier." Another said: "It's not just a pub anymore - it's a time machine with strings. Thank you for turning small places into big memories, Ed."
A third expressed their appreciation for the communal singing: "Sounds like an amazing night with Ed! I always love those crowd sing-alongs too - they bring such great energy."
Other comments included enthusiastic praises like: "It was so good", "Love this", and: "Love to see so many fans there."
The dancing and smiling faces of the fans were evident in the footage as they joined Sheeran in song and dance.
The 34-year-old musician announced on Friday (May 2) plans for three performances, including at Ipswich Town FC's stadium, an arena close to his heart.
Later that day, he hinted at a visit to the town by sending out a message to fans through his mailing list, as reported by the Ipswich Star.
The message read: "From Ipswich, MA to Ipswich, UK... we're bringing The Old Phone pub home this weekend."
Fans were encouraged to respond to the message with a beer emoji for a chance to get invited.
Sheeran released his track Old Phone on Thursday (May 1), which features on his new album of the same name.
He previously revealed on Facebook that he wrote the song in India while finishing off the album.
The pop star explained: "It came by accident, because I was jet lagged and woke up at 2am. Everyone else was asleep, so I thought 'might as well write a song' and this was the first idea in my notes."
He shared a reel of him singing Old Phone on a beach shortly after he wrote it.
Sheeran also invited his Facebook friends to find their old phone and do a "dump of the old photos," saying that he wanted to see "pure nostalgia."
He will be joined for his Ipswich summer shows by Myles Smith and Tori Kelly on Friday, July 11, Busted and Dylan on Saturday, July 12 and finally James Blunt and Maisie Peters on Sunday, July 13.

Sabrina Carpenter sparks huge backlash over 'disturbing' new album cover
Sabrina Carpenter has been met with a wave of backlash from fans after sharing the cover for her new album, Man's Best Friend. The Espresso singer, 26, sent us all into meltdown last week when she dropped new single Manchild, with many convinced that the lyrics refer to her relationship with ex-boyfriend Barry Keoghan. Hot on the heels of her latest earworm, the 26-year-old announced that her next offering – a follow-up to Short N' Sweet – will be released on August 29. Taking to Instagram earlier today, the Grammy-winner unveiled the artwork imagery, which showed her on her knees in a black minidress and heels. She could be seen posing for the camera and holding her hand up to a man's trouser leg, as he stood over her and gripped a fistful of her hair. The second picture in the post included a zoomed-in photo of a dog wearing a tag adorned with 'Man's Best Friend'. 'My new album, Man's Best Friend, is out on August 29, 2025,' she captioned the post. 'I can't wait for it to be yours x.' 'We're Learning A Lot About People, Ain't We?' Kevin Hart Roasts Diddy And Kanye At BET Awards
Ever one to put himself in the firing line, Kevin Hart used his hosting gig at the 2025 BET Awards to roast two of the most controversial figures in the music industry – Sean 'Diddy' Combs, who is currently on trial for sex trafficking and racketeering charges, and Kanye West, who has taken to X in recent months to spew racist and antisemitic hatred. Diddy denies all allegations and has pleaded not guilty in court. This, it seems, is fertile ground for a comedy monologue. On Monday night at the Peacock Theatre in LA, Kevin alluded to Diddy's ongoing trial and his alleged 'freak off' parties by telling the audience there would be no afterparties where 'sh** gets slippery'. 'I'm shutting down the idea of afterparties,' he told the crowd. 'No afterparties tonight. None. Take your asses home after this. That's why I did it on Monday. People gotta go to work tomorrow.' Diddy's alleged afterparties have been a key subject during his trial, with his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, the former escort Daniel Phillip and several former assistants all testifying about their involvement in Diddy's infamous after parties. 'That's where sh** gets slippery at them goddamn afterparties,' Kevin joked. 'We're learning a lot about people, ain't we? We're learning a lot...' Kevin was hosting the BET Awards, which honour achievements across filmmaking, music and television, in front of a medley of celebrity guests including Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey and Kendrick Lamar. Another famous face who was not in attendance, but still got a mention in Kevin's speech was Kanye. Pretending to receive a message, the comedian said, 'Oh sh**, it's Kanye. Yep, he says he's out front, he's waiting for somebody to invite him in. We all saw Sinners , don't let his ass in here, so he could fight somebody, so he can fight Playboi Carti again, okay? Nobody let Kanye in, no! Not tonight!' This was seemingly a reference to the commotion Kanye and his wife Bianca Censori made on the Grammy's red carpet earlier this year. They were not expected to make an appearance at the awards show before they arrived. Kanye then stood fully clothed while giving directives to Bianca, who dropped her fur coat to reveal her almost entirely naked body in front of the cameras. Continuing to go through the award show house rules, Kevin then referenced the viral video of rapper Cardi B and her boyfriend, Stefon Diggs, partying on a yacht where he handed out a bag containing a mystery pink substance. 'No yachts, no boats,' Kevin joked. 'Cardi B, no pink stuff. What the f***, none of that stuff.' However, unlike Diddy and Kanye, Cardi B was in attendance at the ceremony and later received an honour for her work in hip hop. As Kevin put it, 'The women in hip hop are doing such amazing – I told you guys it's a matter of giving flowers, so I wanna make sure I celebrate this correctly. Shouts out to Cardi B, shouts out to Meg Thee Stallion. Shouts out to Latto, Doechii, just to name a few. You guys are all doing amazing things.'
