Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson has a new role. He is now CEO of Carma HoldCo, the Las Vegas-based parent company behind cannabis brands that include Tyson 2.0, Ric Flair Drip and Evol by Future.
The boxing icon's ascendancy to the company's helm is part of a 'new phase for Carma HoldCo, and a deeply personal progression for Tyson himself, who has long expressed a desire to take on a greater leadership role within the company,' according to a news announcement.
Tyson is succeeding Adam Wilks as CEO.
On his new leadership appointment, Tyson said in a statement, 'Carma HoldCo was built on the belief that powerful stories and even more powerful products can change how people connect with wellness, entertainment, and culture. This isn't just a title—it's a responsibility I take seriously. I've wanted to be more involved for a long time, and now is the right time to take that step. I'm fully committed to making sure everything we create stays true to who we are while growing in new and exciting ways.'
A longtime cannabis advocate, Tyson first made a foray into the space when he founded his eponymous brand Tyson 2.0 in 2021. In 2022, Tyson and former rival, ex-heavyweight boxing champ Evander Holyfield, formed Carma Holdings, which launched Tyson 2.0's Holy Ears' THC and Delta 8 infused edibles that month. The partnership ushered in the launch of Holyfield's own cannabis line in 2023. And no body parts were shed as a result.

Pop Mart's CEO Is China's 10th Richest Person Thanks to Labubu
Summary Pop Mart's CEO Wang Ning has ascended to China's richest ranks all because ofLabubu. The unassuming world of designer toys has just produced one of China's newest billionaires, proving that cultural phenomena, even those contained within a 'blind box,' can generate immense wealth. Wang Ning, the visionary founder of Pop Mart, has surged into the ranks of China's top ten richest individuals, a meteoric rise largely attributed to the global frenzy surrounding the quirky yet captivating character, Labubu. Pop Mart, a Beijing-based company founded by Wang Ning in 2010, initially started as a multi-brand retailer. However, its strategic pivot to developing and selling its own original intellectual properties (IPs) through the 'blind box' model truly unlocked its exponential growth. The blind box concept, where consumers purchase a sealed package without knowing which specific design from a series they will receive, taps into a powerful blend of surprise, gamification, and collectibility, fostering an addictive treasure-hunt dynamic, particularly among Gen Z and adult collectors. While Pop Mart boasts a roster of beloved characters, it is Labubu, the mischievous, pointy-eared, and toothy elf-like creature created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung, that has become the undisputed star. Licensed by Pop Mart in 2019, Labubu's popularity has soared to unprecedented heights, especially over the past year. This 'Labubu Mania' has been fueled by a combination of factors: its 'ugly-cute' aesthetic, highly sought-after limited editions, and crucially, immense celebrity endorsements from global figures and celebrities likeLISA, Emma Roberts,Dua LipaandRihannahave all joined in on the craze, adding Labubus to their everyday bags. This insatiable global demand for Labubu has directly translated into a colossal surge in Pop Mart's revenue and stock price. In 2024, Pop Mart's net income reportedly soared by 188%, with total sales more than doubling, reaching approximately 13 billion yuan (around $1.8 billion USD). The Monsters franchise, which includes Labubu, saw an astonishing 726.6% revenue increase, becoming the company's top earner. This financial performance has propelled Wang Ning's personal wealth to over $20 billion USD, positioning him as one of the wealthiest individuals in China, as well as the country's youngest billionaire.

Ricki Lake says she's open to talk about her plastic surgery: 'I don't want there to be any stigma'
Ricki Lake, 56, says she's gotten a lower face and neck lift after losing 40 pounds. "I don't want there to be any stigma," the "Hairspray" star said. Other celebrities, like Kylie Jenner and Barbara Corcoran, have also recently gone public about their plastic surgery. The days of celebrities hiding their cosmetic procedures are long gone, and Ricki Lake, 56, is the latest to speak openly about it. During an appearance on Thursday's episode of "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen," the "Hairspray" actor spoke about getting a lower facelift and why she's being transparent about the procedure. "I'll reveal this to you. I've told other people, but I've had a lower face and neck lift," Lake told host Andy Cohen and fellow guest Cynthia Nixon. "I kind of think it's the best facelift I've ever seen." Lake gave a shoutout to her Los Angeles-based doctor before explaining why she chose to be so open about the procedure. "I love that I can talk about it. I'm fully transparent, always have been. I don't want there to be any stigma. This is something that was bothering me," Lake said. "I lost a lot of weight, and I had this certain thing hanging, and I had it fixed." This isn't the first time that Lake has been open about her glow-up. She previously spoke to Us Weekly about losing 40 pounds by following a keto diet, hiking daily with a weighted vest, and doing Pilates. Lake joins a growing list of Hollywood celebrities who've recently opened up about their plastic surgery. Kylie Jenner went viral last week after she replied to a TikToker's request for the details of her breast augmentation surgery. "445 cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle!!!!! silicone!!! garth fisher!!! hope this helps lol," Jenner wrote in a comment. After the plastic surgeon thanked Jenner for the shoutout on an Instagram post, Kris Jenner, 69, then commented and revealed that he was also the doctor who performed her first facelift 14 years ago. Joining in on the trend, "Shark Tank" star Barbara Corcoran also took to Threads to share a detailed list of procedures that she's done and continues to do. This included three facelifts so far, a neck lift, and ear filler four times a year. A representative for Lake did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent by Business Insider outside regular hours. Read the original article on Business Insider
