Paul Nichols, a veteran publicist who had stints at Group W, All American Television, Sony Pictures Television and the Lippin Group, has died. He was 76.
Nichols died March 14 at his home in Weatherford, Texas, his family announced. His wife of 31 years, Linda, died 12 days before he did.

Charley Scalies, Actor on 'The Wire' and 'The Sopranos,' Dies at 84
Kirk Medas, 'Floribama Shore' Star, Dies at 33
In 1991, Nichols helped All American Television bring Baywatch into first-run syndication, a move that essentially kicked off the weekly action-hour craze of the 1990s and early 2000s. The David Hasselhoff starrer had been canceled by NBC after one season but went on to air for 10 more years, through 2001.
Fellow publicist Les Eisner said Nichols 'was largely responsible for branding [Baywatch] as the world's most-watched TV series. Whether that was true or not, who knows? But it stuck.'
Born on March 22, 1948, in Wilmington, Delaware, Nichols graduated from State College Area High School in State College, Pennsylvania, in 1966 and from Penn State University in 1970 with a degree in broadcast journalism.
He started his career as DJs at an AM radio station in State College and at an FM station in Philadelphia before landing a job at Group W's The Mike Douglas Show, which was based in Philadelphia. He then moved to California in 1980 to work for Douglas' talk-show successor, John Davidson.
His wife was a senior executive at the TV marketing association Promax. After the couple retired, they moved to Texas to be closer to her family.
Eisner noted that Nichols was 'a great mentor to a cadre of publicists, myself and Frank [Marchesini] included. … He will be remembered for his sharp wit, rather cynical view of life and, along with Linda, his love of animals.'
Survivors include his brother, Robert; sister-in-law Denise; nephews Steve and James; and niece Caitlin.

She shared the photo with the caption reading, 'Baby's got good taste @dior.' As you can see in the snapshot, we see her son rummaging through her Dior bag. We see his lil curls, as well as how big he's gotten! (When did he start standing?!) Now, this rare photo not only delighted fans, but it drew some comparisons to the Disney version of Hercules. One of the top comments was from a fan who commented a GIF from the beloved Disney movie, where Hercules was a baby; and honestly? We totally see the resemblance. For those who don't know, Daddario and Form started dating in 2020 during a chance encounter during the COVID-19 pandemic. By June 2022, they were married, and then she became the stepmother to Form's two sons (whom he welcomed with ex-wife Jordana Brewster): Julian, born in 2013, and Rowan, born in 2016. On July 10, 2024, Daddario announced that she and Form were expecting a child together. Then on Oct 31, she announced they had welcomed their child together. Then, in a previous interview with People back in Feb 2025, she made rare comments about her son. 'Fashion Week is a breeze compared to a hungry little baby,' she joked. 'I'm very lucky. He's a great baby. He's just brought so much joy and peace in my life, so I recommend it to anyone who wants a kid.' A handy as heck Burt's Bees sunburn soother, perfect for bringing some relief to any sunburns that may occur while you're skipping under the sun. These are incredibly comfortable to wear all day (especially when those sweaty temps start to soar), and they've even been compared to $$$ brands like Skims and Victoria's Secret. Finally, a thong you won't feel the need to dig out or readjust every five seconds or so. A mason jar cold brew maker that will save you some money in the long haul when you start cutting down on those early morning Dunkin' runs. Say goodbye to the days of being late to work while stuck in a ridiculously long drive-thru line; your perfect cup can be made right at home — no heavy machinery or electricity required. A set of cult-favorite extra soft bedsheets to make you feel like you're snuggling under a pile of soft, luxurious marshmallows. Now you can finally wear a light-colored top without fear that a huge sweat stain will take away from the aesthetics of your perfect 'fit. Yeah, you're gonna look so fetch. A Windex outdoor glass cleaner for anyone who's ever thought, "How the heck do I clean that high-up window??" Climbing a huge ladder and wobbling while trying to clean sounds... shall we say, not fun? But this'll change the game. Just attach the Windex bottle to your hose and spray the solution all over the place! ✨Sparkling windows✨ everywhere. Monday Haircare Dry Shampoo because sometimes that alarm just does not go off (or ya hit snooze like 50 times... same thing), and you really don't have time for an actual shower, but you still need to revive those greasy locks (thanks humidity 🙄). This will bring some volume to your hair without leaving behind any residue or powder (like some other dry shampoos might). Plus, it has a gorgeous gardenia scent that is sure to turn some heads as you walk through your office halls. Medicube's "Zero Pore" Pads to make your skin feel as smooth as that silk scarf you keep eyeing at that fancy department store. This ~genius~ scrunchy will help dry your hair without you needing to fiddle with any heat tools during the hot months, which is perfect because frankly, you're chronically running behind schedule anyway. A Java Sock that not only will dress up that delicious iced latte you order every day before work, but will also keep your yummy drink cold for *hours*. Anddd it'll stop your drink from sweating all over your desk and laptop. It's about to be your favorite accessory. A refillable roll-on sponge sunscreen applicator with a rollerball inside because you're tired of rubbing sunscreen into your figgity toddler's skin with your slippery fingers as they try their very best to evade your grasp. Oh yeah, your beach days are about to get a whole lot better. A ChomChom pet hair remover roller to save you from painstakingly (and ineffectively) lint-rolling your furniture from the unspeakable amount of shedding your furry bestie leaves behind in their wake. All you have to do is empty the roller when it's full, and it's good to go — no wasteful and annoying sticky sheets required! A pack of Elephant Trax labels so you can keep all of your boxes neatly organized, and never again forget whether or not you truly bought that one coat, or if you just dreamed it. You can attach the sticker to the box, take pics of everything you've packed, and you'll be able to just scan the QR code and know what's inside! We're over halfway through summer, but at least now you can finally stash those winter coats away without fear of never being able to find them again.

Meet IndyStar business intern Tory Basile

IndyStar's newsroom internships are an important tradition that benefits readers, the news industry and aspiring journalists. We have nine summer interns for 2025 — students who have shown a passion for local journalism and have prior internship or student media experience. The program provides a bridge from student journalism to the professional ranks and helps the Star fill the gaps as our full-time staff take well-earned vacation time. Similarly, we're taking a break from our "Meet the Staff" feature to give you a chance to, yes, meet the interns. We also call them Pulliam fellows — in recognition of the family that used to own the newspaper and has continued to support journalism in Indianapolis — and past participants have gone on to rich careers at the Star and elsewhere in journalism. Our final 2025 IndyStar intern to be featured is Tory Basile. Business I graduated from IU Bloomington in May with bachelor's degrees in journalism and political science. Being a journalist is the best job because you get to meet people, learn and do things you'd never expect. I love getting to become a sort-of expert on so many different topics. Through reporting, I've met inspiring, interesting people who shape the community and make me think about the world differently, and I'm grateful to get the chance to tell their stories. I live in Indianapolis and grew up reading the IndyStar. I was excited to apply because I wanted firsthand experience reporting on local news, and it's an opportunity to see Indy in a new, interesting way. I've been watching "The Sopranos" for the first time and staying vigilant about avoiding spoilers. "Picture your future: Would you rather be at a party full of lawyers or journalists? Exactly. Don't go to law school." I'm hoping in five years I will be working somewhere as a local reporter. I'd love to be covering stories about politics and health or writing features. Hopefully, I will have a dog, lots of houseplants and a rent-controlled apartment. Probably 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?' Worth a shot! Dogs! I grew up with three of them. Cats make me sneeze.
