Tejashwi alleges JD(U) netas blocking Nishant's entry into politics

Time of India4 hours ago

Patna: Leader of opposition in state assembly,
Tejashwi Prasad Yadav
, on Wednesday alleged that a group of JD(U) leaders were conspiring to keep chief minister
Nitish Kumar
's son,
Nishant Kumar
, away from politics to ensure their interests were not harmed.
Nishant, of late, was found taking keen interest in politics and frequently asking people to vote for his father in the upcoming assembly elections.
Talking to reporters on Wednesday, Tejashwi claimed Nishant wanted to enter politics and his father wished so too, but some JD(U) leaders, especially those from the 'bhunja party' (a term used for the CM's inner circle), were conspiring to prevent him from joining politics, fearing they could lose their influence if he steps in.
Citing examples, Tejashwi said a JD(U) MP fixed jobs for his two daughters, another MLA for his son-in-law, and a retired bureaucrat for his wife. "But when Nishant is willing to come to politics, they feel uncomfortable and are discouraging him," Tejashwi alleged, adding, "The close aides of CM are fully exploiting his deteriorating health by getting a number of their children and close relatives appointed to influential bodies.

Reacting sharply to the allegations, JD(U) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad said Tejashwi was making wild allegations out of fear of noticing his impending defeat in the upcoming elections. "Let aside Mungeri Lal's sweet dreams, he will no longer continue as the leader of opposition after the next elections," Prasad said.
He said Nitish has never been accused of promoting "dynastic politics". "On the other hand, RJD chief Lalu Prasad has set his entire family in politics, let aside his brothers-in-law," he said. Currently, Lalu himself, his wife Rabri Devi, their two daughters Misa Bharti and Rohini Acharya, and both his sons—Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav—are active in politics.

MCDCC bank elections: Filing of nomination ends

Mysuru: The filing of nomination papers for the elections to the board of directors of the Mysuru-Chamarajanagar District Central Cooperative bank (MCDCC) concluded on Wednesday. As polls to elect 17 directors for MCDCC were scheduled to take place on June 26, the last day saw a big rush for the filing of nominations at the office of the deputy commissioner in Siddharth Nagar. The district administration office witnessed a flurry of activities with the candidates accompanied by their party workers and supporters, even though the elections to these posts were held non-political, without any respective party symbols. MLAs GD Harish Gowda (Hunsur-JD(S), Anil Chikkamadu (HD Kote-Congress), former MLA Sunitha Veerappagowda, who is a Congress functionary, and several other bigwigs in cooperatives filed their nominations. Even former minister and Chamarajanagar MLA C Puttarangashetty, MLA HM Ganeshprasad, former MLA R Narendra, and others also filed nominations for the election. All the three political parties have taken these elections as a prestige issue to take control of this cooperative bank that has an annual business turnover of Rs 2,500 crore and plays a crucial role in agriculture financing in the twin districts of Mysuru and Chamarajanagar. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Esse novo alarme com câmera é quase gratuito em São Gonçalo (consulte o preço) Alarmes Undo Speaking to reporters after filing nomination papers, Harish Gowda, the outgoing president, exuded confidence about his win in the polls as cooperatives of the twin districts have kept a lot of faith in him and supported his candidature beyond political affiliations. He said that he worked hard to strengthen the MCDCC bank and took deposit amounts to Rs 1,000 crore from Rs 370 crore. The state govt is holding the elections after a one-year delay following directions from the high court, he said.

Land acquisition: Farmers plan protest on June 25

Mysuru: Badagalapura Nagendra, president of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene, on Wednesday announced that the 'Devanahalli Chalo' protest, scheduled for June 25, is to highlight the ongoing struggle against KIADB's land acquisition in Devanahalli taluk in Bengaluru Rural district. Nagendra told the reporters that farmers from 13 villages in the taluk sustained their protest for 1,182 days, requesting the state govt to withdraw the notification for land acquisition. "When the previous govt (BJP) issued an initial notification under Section 28(1) of the KIADB Act, local farmers staged protests and a satyagraha. Then opposition leader and present chief minister Siddaramaiah, with his party members, promised to prevent forced land acquisition if elected. However, after assuming power, they maintained BJP's notification and proceeded with the final steps," he alleged. The administration allegedly violated the Land Acquisition Act-2013 through this forced acquisition, which farmers consider a breach of trust. The 'Devanahalli Chalo' protest will see thousands of participants, including farmers, Dalits, labourers, women, students, activists, writers, and artists assembling at the tahsildar's office, opposing the state govt's reversal of its commitment, he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thị trường có dấu hiệu suy thoái không? He said agriculture department officials are yet to supply seeds and fertilisers, demanding immediate action against counterfeit agricultural supplies. The farmer leader also condemned the state govt's decision to spend Rs 92 crore on the Cauvery Aarti programme, describing it as "purposeless".
