So if you're a baseball-watching Bostonian who's feeling particularly lighthearted, social, and flush lately, you might have the Red Sox to thank. The team has been on a roll since last month, when it won
Still, most of us don't get to experience the thrill of victory in person, at least not every day; our share of the excitement is dependent on photos or video footage. Enter
Barry was at the Sox' July 8 faceoff against the Colorado Rockies at Fenway Park. There he captured shortstop Trevor Story mid-whoop as he rounded the bases after hitting a three-run homer in the seventh inning, propelling the Sox to a 10-2 rout. 'His reaction helps tell the story,' Barry says. 'It's always helpful when you have an expressive player who openly shows their emotions.'

Not every player is so liberated, he added. 'It is much more difficult if a player's demeanor doesn't change between a home run and a fly out, a touchdown or an interception, a game-winning basket or an airball.'
So Barry covered his bases, so to speak: He deliberately took a wide-angle shot to capture a swath of the crowd perched in the stands, on their feet with arms raised. 'If he hadn't reacted, I knew that the fans in the background would,' he said, 'because that's what makes them fans and that is what fans do.'
Turns out he needn't have worried.
Barry's photo is among the 28 best that the Globe published last month, as selected by the paper's photo editors. They include images of people trying to stay cool in the heat, survivors and firefighters trying to come to terms with a deadly blaze at a Fall River assisted living facility, and more jubilant scenes from Fenway. Why ‘41' Is Trending in Teen Slang — & Why It's the New ‘6-7'
Tired of hearing '6-7' all the time from your teens? You're in luck … kind of. A new phrase has popped up that experts say is going to replace the nonsensical slang term: '41.' But it's poised to be just as annoying as the first one. What Is 6-7? As a quick refresher, 6-7 is a slang term that doesn't really mean anything — it's just something teens (and tweens!) like to say as often as they can. More from SheKnows Does More Freedom Equal Less Screen Time? Experts Think So In a previous interview with our SheKnows Teen Council, 16-year-old Gary explained it like this: 'Okay, so six-seven, to be kind of broad, it's just two numbers that you say to be funny. It's like in any situation, you'd be like, 'well, how many times you do this?' You could say 'six, seven,'' he said. It started from a song by a rapper named Skrilla, who said '6-7' in the lyrics and a clip from the moment went viral on TikTok. So, What Is 41? Now, middle school teacher and keeper of Gen Z slang Mr. Lindsay alerted followers to the new trending number '41.' 'Bad news if you didn't like 6-7, you're not gonna like this one either,' he said in a video on Instagram. Although kids aren't quite saying it yet, they are 'starting to pick up on' 41. 'It starts from a song by a rapper named Blizzy Boi, and he says that he is 41, and he has 41 of everything,' Mr. Lindsay says. According to Know Your Meme, the song originally debuted in Aug. 2021, but it went viral recently once a clip was posted to TikTok. 'If you're kids aren't saying #41 yet, they will be soon! Is it the new #67 ?' Mr. Lindsay captioned the video. Considering how teens today are constantly trying to move on to the next viral moment, it wouldn't surprise us at all if '41' eclipsed '6-7' just because it's new and different. The '41' trend might be kinda silly, but at least it's not dirty or referencing anything explicit, right? We're finally getting a break from everything being '69'! Red Sox Face Alex Bregman Decision After $230M Update
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. The Boston Red Sox announced a long-term decision on the future of their franchise on Wednesday and now they face a more immediate one. The team reached an extension agreement with rookie Roman Anthony, anointing him as their outfielder of the future with an eight-year deal. The contract includes several escalators for Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player Award finishes as well as All-Star appearances, and could be worth as much as $230 million when it's all said and done. Obviously, the Red Sox like what they've seen from the young slugger. Anthony has slashed .276/.392/.417 with two homers in his first 163 at-bats with the big-league club after slashing .288/.423/.491 with 10 homers in 212 at-bats at Triple-A earlier this season. But at just 21 years old, Anthony is unlikely to lead the Red Sox to a World Series anytime soon. And as a result the team could be looking to extend some more tenured players in the near future following the update on his contract. TORONTO, CANADA - APRIL 30: Alex Bregman #2 of the Boston Red Sox walks to the dugout ahead of their MLB game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on April 30, 2025 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. (Photo by) More Burston/Getty "Wilyer Abreu, Alex Bregman, Marcelo Mayer, and Carlos Narvaez are all good candidates for a deal but their expectations may not align with what the Sox are thinking," Peter Abraham noted for The Boston Globe. "Scott Boras, who represents Bregman, believes players can only find their true worth as free agents. But he also did the deals when Jose Altuve and Matt Chapman agreed to extensions." Abreu and Narvaez are still in pre-arbitration, while Mayer is a rookie. But Bregman seems likely to opt out of his contract and explore free agency this offseason if the Red Sox don't extend him first, leaving them with a pressing decision to make. After investing so much in Anthony, the Red Sox can opt to do the same with Bregman and signal some win-now urgency. Or they can stand pat and content to prioritize the future over the present. Their decision will say a lot about the franchise priorities. More MLB: Mets' Carlos Mendoza Finally Admits What He Thinks About Juan Soto's Slump

It will be available of YouTube and Spotify in the UK and Ireland, featuring clips from every la Liga game along with expert analysis and discussion. Lineker, who is set to front ITV reality show The Box, turned out for Barca during his playing career in the 1980s. 'I've made no secret of my love for Spanish football over the years,' said Lineker, who is Goalhanger's co-founder. 'Ever since I played there in the late '80s, I've followed the story of La Liga closely. Now, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Marcus Rashford joining Jude Bellingham and Conor Gallagher in Spain, all eyes will be on La Liga's biggest games each week. The Rest Is Football: LaLiga will be the perfect way to catch all the goals and key action.' Goalhanger's other co-founder, Tony Pastor, noted that downloads of The Rest is Football spiked to 19.6 million and streams in June 2024 during the last men's UEFA European Championship, which saw Spain defeat England 2-1 in the final. In particular, YouTube viewing was well up, with 'more than half' of the downloads made thrre. 'Bringing weekly match action to The Rest Is Football feels like the natural next step for the show. Podcasting is no longer just an audio medium – video is transforming how people engage with our content and bringing in entirely new audiences,' said Pastor. The Rest Is Football: LaLiga launches on August 19 and will releases weekly episodes, with the video stream limited to the UK and Ireland. Disney+ deal The news came on the same day Disney+ confirmed it had secured a three-year deal, beginning on August 16, that will give subscribers access to live Saturday night La Liga soccer games. This will kick off with Valencia CF hostingReal Sociedad at the Mestalla Stadium from 8:30pm UK local time. Disney-owned ESPN will provide the production and commentary. Real Madrid and Liverpool legend Steve 'Macca' McManaman will lead the commentary team alongside former Arsenal and West Ham midfielder Stewart Robson. Broadcasters Ian Darke and Rob Palmer will alternate play-by-play duties throughout the season. The deal also sees and ESPN UK's social channels and YouTube offering highlights of every La Liga game and news on developments in Spain. It comes soon after Disney+ secured exclusive rights to the UEFA Women's Champions League across Europe for the next five years. Most La Liga games will still play on Premier Sports in the UK and Ireland. The sports broadcaster and streaming service today secure a new three-year deal for all games outside of the Saturday 8pm slot. This gives it more than 340 games in total. 'At Disney, we celebrate storytelling that moves and excites,' said Karl Holmes, Disney+ EMEA's General Manager. 'From the cinematic scale of FX's Alien: Earth to the sharp wit of Only Murders in the Building and the action-packed suspense of Lucasfilm's Andor, our customers know they're in for something special. With La Liga joining the line-up, they can experience that same excitement on the pitch with weekly matches featuring legendary clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona and stars like Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold as part of their Disney+ subscription.' Former Sky finance chief Holmes recently took up his post at Disney+. He'll soon be joined by long-serving ITV exec Angela Jain, who was named Head of Content for EMEA in June. Disney+'s move is the latest example of a streaming service acquiring sports rights as a means to attract new subs in the competitive UK market. For example, Prime Video has in recent seasons dipped into the market for Premier League and Champions League games.
