Emily Atack and Danny Dyer's new primetime ITV game show is revealed - and insiders say its premise is VERY familiar

Daily Mail4 days ago
Emily Atack and Danny Dyer 's new primetime ITV game show has been revealed, but its premise is raising eyebrows.
It was revealed earlier this year that the pair, who both starred in the Disney+ hit Rivals, will front a Saturday night game show called Nobody's Fool.
Bosses at the broadcaster brought in the pair in a bid to 'freshen up their entertainment talent', it was reported.
The duo are reportedly set to receive a whopping £250,000 each for the gig, with the show expected to air next year.
But similarities between Nobody's Fool and Rivals are said to have raised eyebrows behind the scenes.
A source told The Sun: 'Rivals is the story of a web of rival individuals which is spun around a stately house, Penscombe Court, and their efforts to constantly outdo one another.
'That's exactly the basis for the new gameshow, which also has the background of a country pile and sees all the competitors try to outwit one another.
'Those in the know are already describing it as: "A game of intellect and deception" which could be the catchline for one of Jilly's novels.'
MailOnline has contacted representatives for Danny and Emily for comment.
Danny and Emily have been busy so far this year filming the second series of the smash-hit series, based on the racy books of Dame Jilly Cooper.
Danny, who played pub landlord Mick Carter in EastEnders for almost a decade, is no stranger to game shows.
The hardman previously hosted The Wall for the BBC, which ran for three series before ending in 2022 when Danny left EastEnders and the BBC.
Mum-of-one Emily starred as a team captain on now-axed CelebJuice with Keith Lemon and Laura Whitmore.
Danny recently revealed there is so much bonking in Rivals 2 – which is currently filming - that they have hired every intimacy coach in the UK.
He said: 'We are doing 12 episodes of Rivals and we are filming until March next year.
'It is brilliant but it is a mad thing to do a sex scene. If you think about it you are legally allowed to tongue someone else. It is part of your job. Depending on your partner. It is OK if you fancy it, I am not going to lie.'
He added: 'On Rivals there are a lot of intimacy coaches. I think we used every intimacy coach in the land.'
In the smash hit Disney + show, based on the novel by Jilly Cooper, Danny played self-made businessman Freddie Jones who goes into business with Rupert Campbell-Black, played by Alex Hassell and Declan O'Hara played by Aidan Turner.
In the show Jones falls in love with romance author Lizzie Vereker, played by actress Katherine Parkinson. The initial run was eight episodes but Disney + have asked for more this time around.
Danny's performance as Jones has been hailed as bringing heart to the frothy, pulpy show, which has led to a reassessment of him as an actor, following his long-running stint in EastEnders.
He was awarded a Bafta in May for his performance in Mr Bigstuff. He told Esquire magazine: 'People saw me in a different light[in Rivals], and it came out just after Mr. Bigstuff, which, for once, shows a bit of versatility, because Lee is so different to Freddie.
'I've made a lot mistakes over the years. I've said yes to a lot of jobs I probably shouldn't have, probably because I was driven by the dollar – I had bills to pay and kids in private schools. Now, I'm at a stage where I have loads of offers that I've got the power to say no to. I think I'll be defined by what I say no to, and it's really exciting for me.'
On stage at the Baftas where he won the award to Best Male Performance in a Comedy he said: 'What a touch! Comedy performance. I thought my acting was so bad it was funny. I want to thank Sky for giving our show a shot. F***ing hell, I'm choked up.
'I got to dedicate this to (Mr Bigstuff writer) Ryan Sampson. One of the greatest things to come out of Rotherham. Which is not saying much.
'But one of the best actors this country's ever produced, I'm telling you. Never done the same thing twice. Which is not something I can say. He wrote this part for me, so you know... I'm getting choked up again, f**k me.'

Green Party members start choosing new leadership

Voting has opened in the Green Party of England and Wales leadership party co-leader Adrian Ramsay has teamed up with another MP colleague, Ellie Chowns, after Carla Denyer decided not to stand for party's 60,000-strong membership will choose between the Ramsay and Chowns ticket and the party's current deputy leader Zack Polanski, who is also a member of the London who had joined the party before midnight on Thursday can vote on the leadership between now and Saturday, 30 August, with results announced on Tuesday, 2 September. Ramsay and Chowns, a former MEP, are emphasising their "decades" of political experience and encouraging members to back them "to turn values into power".Self-described "eco-populist" Polanski has instead urged members to vote for change, with "bold leadership that can cut through" on the national stage, from a gay, Jewish leader who can help the party to "scale up and diversify".Polanski characterises the current leadership as timid, failing to take the fight to Labour and Reform UK - and of communicating in a way that "has not cut through in the way we should".Ramsay and Chowns have accused Polanski of risking the party's achievements so far, which include quadrupling their number of MPs, from one to four, and doubling their councillors over the past four years, with a "polarising, strident" a lengthy thread on X, Ramsay also suggested Jeremy Corbyn and Zara Sultana's new as-yet-unnamed party "blows Zack Polanski's leadership pitch out of the water".Drama has flared a couple of times during campaigning, notably during an LBC interview where Ramsay struggled to say whether he liked Polanski for an agonisingly long initially said "we've worked together" before being pressed for a yes or no answer and adding: "I've enjoyed working with Zack over the last few years, of course".As interviewer Iain Dale responded "ouch", Polanski said: "I really like Adrian, so that does hurt."Pressed further, Ramsay said: "I've worked with Zack effectively, I like working with Zack, I like Zack, I don't understand what the issue is here."The Green Party holds leadership elections every two years, but last year's scheduled poll was delayed so as not to clash with the 2024 general some other parties, the leader or co-leader has less of a role in setting policy, which is voted in by the membership, and is more focused on vision, strategy and communication, "ensuring a coherent and compelling message".A Green Party spokesperson said: "Since nominations opened, the contest has engaged party members and the wider public through a series of in-person and online hustings, and media appearances."Now, paid-up party members will be electing a leadership team to take the party to a new level, offering real hope and real change as the old, failed two-party system fragments."Green members will also vote in a deputy leadership election this month, choosing either one or two candidates from a list of nine, depending on whether a single leader or two co-leaders are elected. Rita Ora flaunts her washboard abs in a nude bikini before slipping into a busty neon green gym set as she shares a glimpse into her fun-filled summer

Rita Ora ensured all eyes were on her as she shared a fun-filled summer photo dump on Instagram on Thursday. The singer, 34, first sent temperatures soaring as she showed off her rock-hard abs in a nude bikini. Posing for the mirror selfie with a jelly face mask, Rita accessorised her toned figure with an array of gold jewellery that complemented her glowing tan. In another snap, the star put on a busty display in a neon green sports bra and shorts as she enjoyed a hike. The singer added a bright red Ralph Lauren baseball cap and shielded her eyes with a pair of sunglasses. This was followed by another selfie in the gym while donning a skimpy black gym set. The singer, 34, put on a busty display in a neon green sports bra and shorts as she enjoyed a hike Rita's photo dump also included glam shots, a snap with Glen Powell at Glastonbury, some delicious food, and time with friends. She captioned the carousel: 'Summer and tings.' The sexy snaps come just weeks after Rita admitted that she felt 'ugly' in her late twenties because she 'wasn't as thin as other people'. The singer appeared on Fearne Cotton's Happy Place podcast in partnership with Dove's Self Esteem Project for a candid body confidence chat. Rita opened up about how her relationship with her body has changed in recent years, as she revealed she used to feel like her body wasn't 'hot'. 'I think for me the idea of looking a certain way in my late 20s, that's when it started to hit me because my stamina was low, I wasn't looking after my body, I was getting sick a lot and I didn't feel like my body was hot,' Rita said. 'And I didn't accept the idea of okay well I'm not as thin as these other people - and so I'm ugly. And that's really sad to think back on because I know I wasn't. 'It's like what you do when you're attacking your younger self like in therapy, and it's like that girl was still really beautiful.' Sharing the clip on Instagram, Rita wrote: 'I sat down with @Dove and @HappyPlaceOfficial to share why I believe body confidence starts with self care focusing on what your body needs - not what it looks like. 'Proud to partner with the Dove Self Esteem Project on #Why2k - together we're rewriting the rules and helping women build body confidence.' Rita recently revealed how Beyoncé has always been her 'protector' as she discussed being hit by speculation that she was 'Becky with the good hair'. Beyoncé's smash hit 2016 album Lemonade featured poignant lyrics about cheating and she sang about the mysterious woman in her track Sorry. Fans widely speculated it referred to alleged infidelity by Beyoncé's husband Jay-Z with a woman called 'Becky', and theories began circulating online about her identity. Rita found herself at the centre of the rumours as she was wrongly accused of having an affair with Jay-Z, with the singer forced to hit back and deny the claims. Now, Rita - who was represented by Jay-Z's Roc Nation label at the time - revealed she was so upset by the claims because Beyoncé has always been her 'protector'. Speaking on Davina McCall's Begin Again podcast, Rita explained: 'Behind closed doors, [Beyoncé] is literally my fairy godmother, she was my protector - that's what's insane because there was nothing but love.'

‘Worst show the BBC has EVER aired' returns to TV tonight – after racism controversy and apology

A SHOW that viewers dubbed as the 'worst ever on the BBC' returns to screens tonight despite being shrouded in controversy. Mrs Brown's Boys has been a magnet for criticism since its launch and came under fire amid a racism scandal last year involving its lead star and creator, Brendan O'Carroll. 3 3 It first launched in 2011 and now it will begin its fifth full-length series this evening. Currently scheduled to air at 9:30pm, it seems like telly watchers will be opting not to tune in after branding it the 'worst' show ever. Commenting on the programme on X: "Worst programme in human history should've never been commissioned." Another added: "Just speechless... I honestly don't know one person who thinks this show is remotely funny." A third also posted: "I don't know anyone who will admit to liking, or even just watching, this show." Brendan was forced to apologise over a racial joke but later told how he thought it was a "good thing" for the BBC as it allowed them to raise awareness. Crew were left 'shocked' when O'Carroll made a racial slur during rehearsals for the beloved comedy's Christmas special and complained to bosses. Production was suspended whilst the Beeb launched an investigation and he later said he 'deeply regretted' his "clumsy attempt at a joke". However, he bizarrely shared his belief the BBC came out of it well, as it showed they took action. Brendan said: 'The one thing that that incident did is give great awareness about racism, and great awareness about the BBC, they don't take any messing. 'The context of it… it was completely taken out of context 'However I think in the long run it was a good thing, because it got people talking about it.' Brendan was speaking for the first time about the row on an Irish YouTube show, Conversations With Gerry Kelly.
