Jermaine Eluemunor: New York Giants' O-line 'sick and tired of not being good'
New York Giants right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor is entering his second and final year of his two-year contract that was signed in 2024.
After a tough start to his career, Eluemunor seems to have found his groove over the last few seasons. He started all 17 games for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022, then 14 out of 17 games in 2023. For the Giants last year, he appeared in 11 games.
As a veteran on the offensive line, Eluemunor is a leader, and often what he says is echoed by others along the line. So when he mentioned how competitive it's been, he was asked what the root of that competition is.
"I think people are just sick and tired of not being good, and it all starts in the trenches. The O-line and D-line are where games are really won," he told reporters on Wednesday. "We can talk about the receiver room or DBs, and quarterback is a really important position, but games are really decided in the trenches, and so it was intense, especially with the players that we have on O-line and D-line, but at the end of the day, everyone got better from it."
They're tired of not being good and sick of losing, which is a good thing because the desire to improve is the only way improvement ever happens. That frustration has been building, and Eluemunor says you can see the result in this year's OTA attendance.
"I mean, going 3-14 is terrible," he said. "That feeling that you get after you win the game and truly seeing everything you put in the week and all the work you've been putting in, paying off, there's no feeling like it and it's addictive and that's what you want, week in and week out and that's what we want to get and that's what the team wants to become. So, I think that you saw the attendance. I don't think anyone missed OTAs. Everyone was out there."
Everyone was in attendance for OTAs and minicamp this year, and that definitely bodes well for the offensive line.
Eluemunor also credits Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston for the change in attitude along the line.
"Even guys that weren't practicing, they're still in the huddle or they're still around the team or they're still buying in in meetings, trying to make sure that they're gaining all the knowledge they need to so when they come back out there, they know what to do and there's no fall off," he said. "So, I think that I'm not going to make any predictions, but I like this team a lot."
If Giants' fans weren't already squirming with a little excitement at Wilson being under center this fall, they should feel it now. When the line not only supports the quarterback but also believes in him, the whole offensive dynamic changes.
The Giants aren't going to look the same in 2025, and that's positive.

Giants Urged To Swing Blockbuster Offseason Trade For Polarizing Twins Ace
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The San Francisco Giants are a few steps behind the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres in the National League West, but if the Giants can put together a solid offseason, there's a chance they could close the gap. San Francisco will almost certainly be involved in free agency and the trade market once the postseason comes to a close. Nick San Miguel of Around the Foghorn recently suggested the Giants could swing a blockbuster offseason trade for Minnesota Twins ace Joe Ryan. Ryan was mentioned as a trade candidate this season, but the Twins opted to hold onto him. DENVER, CO - JULY 20: Starting pitcher Joe Ryan #41 of the Minnesota Twins delivers a pitch in the first inning against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on July 20, 2025 in Denver, Colorado. DENVER, CO - JULY 20: Starting pitcher Joe Ryan #41 of the Minnesota Twins delivers a pitch in the first inning against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on July 20, 2025 in Denver, Colorado."The SF Giants were sellers at the trade deadline, but if they were buyers, they would have been a perfect fit for both starting pitcher Joe Ryan and outfielder Steven Kwan," San Miguel wrote. "They can still make a run at both players in the offseason. Ryan has been a phenomenal starter for Minnesota this season. "In 23 games, he has a 10-5 record with a 2.79 ERA in 132 and 1/3 innings pitched. He has 146 strikeouts compared to just 26 walks and has a 0.92 WHIP on the year. For a Giants team that can likely only count on Logan Webb, Robbie Ray and Landen Roupp being in the rotation to start next season, adding Ryan to the mix would make the team's rotation very formidable. Plus, the fact that he is a San Francisco native only makes him an even more perfect fit." The Twins will almost certainly look to trade Ryan in the offseason, and the Giants could be the perfect landing spot. San Francisco still has the talented minor league prospects to swing a big deal like this. The Giants' rotation also needs all the help it can get. This is the kind of deal that would help close the gap on the Dodgers and Padres. If San Francisco is serious about becoming a World Series contender, adding an ace like Ryan is a necessity. Guardians' Gold Glove OF Called 'Perfect Fit' As Giants Trade Target
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The San Francisco Giants are clinging to postseason hope, and once again, they're a step or two behind the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. While the Giants have made big moves over the last few months, they need to continue to turn the heat up in the offseason or else the Dodgers and Padres will continue to run the National League West. Nick San Miguel of Around the Foghorn recently suggested the Giants could swing xa trade for Cleveland Guardians Gold Glove outfielder Steven Kwan in the offseason after whiffing at the trade deadline. CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - AUGUST 9: C.J. Kayfus #63 of the Cleveland Guardians high fives teammate Steven Kwan #38 of the Cleveland Guardians after hitting a home run in the sixth inning of the game against the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field on August 9, 2025 in Chicago, Illinois. More"The SF Giants were sellers at the trade deadline, but if they were buyers, they would have been a perfect fit for both starting pitcher Joe Ryan and outfielder Steven Kwan," San Miguel wrote. "They can still make a run at both players in the offseason. "Kwan has been great for Cleveland as well. He is slashing .281/.342/.394 with nine home runs and 39 runs batted in. The Los Gatos native has won three straight Gold Gloves and would be a perfect upgrade over Mike Yastrzemski, who was recently traded to the Royals, in right field. The two players would fill pressing needs on the team and just so happen to be Bay Area natives. It sounds almost too good to be true." Kwan would be the perfect outfield option for the Giants to pursue if the Guardians are still looking to shop him in the offseason. It seems a bit unlikely that he's traded because the Guardians have a few years of team control left and they're firmly in the American League postseason race. Still, if Kwan ends up on the trade block again, the Giants have the prospect capital to go get a deal done. Adding Kwan to the top of the lineup would make San Francisco a World Series contender without a doubt. More MLB: Yankees' Gerrit Cole Provides Encouraging 5-Word Injury Update

Ex-NFL Rookie of the Year Shares Take on Jaxson Dart's Debut
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart had himself a successful weekend. As the Giants paid a visit to the Buffalo Bills for their NFL Preseason opener, Dart got a chance to take the field as Russell Wilson's backup early on in the matchup. It's safe to say the young quarterback's performance was one to rave about. Former NFL Rookie of the Year Robert Griffin III was one of many former players to speak positively about Dart's showing. via @RGIII: The New York Giants have to be happy with what they saw from @JaxsonDart. He made plays with his legs, manipulated the pocket to find throwing lanes and wasn't afraid to let that dog hunt pushing the ball down the field. Great start for the Rebel. Great start for the Rebel. 12/19 for 154 yards 1 TD — Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) August 9, 2025 Throughout the offseason, Dart has received plenty of praise for his poise throughout his first training camp run with the Giants. The first-rounder isn't expected to get a chance to start as early as year one, with Wilson landing support from the head coach Brian Daboll as first on the depth chart, leaving the preseason action to be highly crucial for Dart. Jaxson Dart #6 of the New York Giants in action during training camp at Quest Diagnostics Training Center on July 23, 2025 in East Rutherford, New with Griffin, Brian Daboll was impressed with Dart's first action. "About what I thought he would do. Efficient, effective, aggressive, confident in the pocket. Some stuff we could work on, but he's doing good," Daboll said, regarding Dart's performance. "There's things he can be better at, but we missed some opportunities on third down. Some drops, it would've been even better for him and us, but he's a confident young player, and he's improved since he's been here. Still got a long way to go, but I enjoy working with him on the sidelines. He sees the game well. ... I'm glad he's here," the head coach finished. Dart threw 19 passes in Saturday's game. He completed 12 of his attempts, totaling 154 yards. The rookie managed to toss for a touchdown, giving the Giants an early lead. "Me and [LJ Humphrey] have been connecting a lot during camp and whatnot," Dart said, recalling his first NFL touchdown pass. "He's been a great contested catcher on go balls. I liked my matchup one-on-one, and he was able to win over the top and made a great play." On the ground, Dart rushed three times. He totaled 24 rushing yards, which led New York's offense in Buffalo. The Giants will be back on the field on Saturday to play the New York Jets. It's unclear if Russell Wilson will get the nod to go or not, but Dart will likely get a chance to have a handful of series to build on that first performance after the Giants defeated the Bills 34-25.
