City police warn of fake lottery scratch card fraud
cyber fraud
where scammers are sending fake lottery scratch cards by courier to cheat people.
As per the advisory, a number of cases are being reported where fraudsters called victims from unknown mobile numbers, claiming they won a lottery from a reputed company.
A courier is then sent through India Post containing a letter and a scratch card showing a fake prize of Rs 10 to Rs 15 lakh along with a four-wheeler.
Once the courier is received, the scammer calls again, asking the victim to scratch the card and then call a fake helpline number. Over several calls, they demand money under the pretext of taxes, delivery charges, or refundable fees, aiming to extort large sums.
Police have asked people to stay alert, stressing that no one can win a lottery they did not enter. Victims or those receiving suspicious calls or couriers should contact the Cyber Helpline or report online.

Man flies drone over Pilibhit Tiger Reserve's core area; probe on
File image used for representative purpose. PILIBHIT: Authorities at Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR) have initiated action against a man identified as Arbaz Ansari of Pilibhit city for allegedly flying a drone over the Mala Forest Range, the core area of the reserve, and posting a 30-second video on social media. Officials said the clip, uploaded from an account named Pilibhit Zone, was shot by flying the drone from the Pilibhit-Madhotanda road that cuts through the core forest. The Mala range has one of the highest tiger densities in PTR, and authorities said 'such filming could endanger wildlife safety'. Divisional forest officer (DFO) Manish Singh said, 'Ansari had neither police clearance nor forest department permission. Flying drones in the core area is a clear violation. The act is punishable under the Wildlife Protection Act. Filming inside PTR is permitted only to accredited documentary makers working on wildlife conservation. Such footage can even be misused by poachers.' He added, 'A case is being prepared and the accused is likely to be arrested. The range officer has been directed to trace his whereabouts.' ASP Vikram Dahiya said, 'Operating camera drones without police clearance is a cognisable offence. We suspect the video may have been made simply to gain traction on social media. The motive will be reviewed in the preliminary inquiry and strict legal action will follow.' Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
