Man in Japan stabs woman randomly in convenience store
A 25-year-old unemployed man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after stabbing a woman in a random attack at a convenience store in Osaka prefecture, the latest in a string of unsettling knife assaults that have rocked Japan The incident took place at around 7.40pm on Sunday at a 7-Eleven in a residential district of Suita city, just north of central Osaka. Police said the suspect entered the store and immediately attacked a 28-year-old female customer who was standing in line at the register, stabbing her in the back with a kitchen knife. The woman, an office worker and a resident, sustained injuries to five areas of her back, according to police reports. Witnesses and store employees subdued the attacker until officers arrived. The woman is in stable condition after treatment in a hospital. The suspect, also a Suita resident, was arrested at the scene and reportedly admitted to the police that he wanted to murder the victim. 'I stabbed her with the intention of killing her. There's no mistake,' he told investigators, as quoted by local broadcaster NHK. Police said there was no relationship between the suspect and the victim. The man claimed he had schizophrenia, prompting investigators to look into his psychiatric history as part of the inquiry.

Elderly man arrested in Hong Kong for allegedly assaulting bus driver
An elderly man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a bus driver after a dispute on a double-decker vehicle. A police spokesman said on Tuesday that the force had received a report the day before in which a 25-year-old driver accused a passenger of physically assaulting him on Argyle Street, Kowloon City. 'During the scuffle, the 25-year-old bus driver was physically attacked by the [passenger]. The man had also thrown [the driver's] phone onto the ground. The attacker had fled,' the force said. The bus driver sustained injuries to his face and limbs, and was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital in Yau Ma Tei for treatment. Officers from the Kowloon City police district had reviewed surveillance footage from the force's newly installed SmartView CCTVs to locate the attacker. A 68-year-old man was arrested for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage. The man remained under police custody as of Tuesday afternoon.

Indonesia arrests founder of high-flying fish start-up over fraud scandal
Indonesian police have detained the co-founder and former chief executive officer of eFishery, who has previously admitted faking financial information at the once high-flying aquaculture start-up. Gibran Huzaifah was detained along with two other former executives, Angga Hadrian Raditya and Andri Yadi, according to a text message from the director of special economic crimes at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency, Helfi Assegaf. DealStreetAsia earlier reported the detentions. There was no immediate indication that the three former executives have been charged with any wrongdoing or named as suspects. All three have been held since July 31, according to the police. Gibran has admitted that he faked accounts at eFishery, which since the scandal has been administered by FTI Consulting. By the time it collapsed, the scheme had blown up into a multinational web of fake shell companies and padded accounts. EFishery, which deploys feeders to fish and shrimp farmers in Indonesia, was a darling of the nation's start-up scene with a valuation of US$1.4 billion.
