N.Sembilan KPDN Detects 369 Cases, Compounds RM91,700 Since Jan 1
State chief enforcement officer, Faizah Othman said through the inspections, 249 offences were found under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, while 120 cases were found under the Weights and Measures Act 1972.
She said that for today's inspection, 41 premises of durian traders were inspected and from that number, 12 traders were fined a total of RM2,500.
"These 12 traders were compounded for failing to display price tags and using weighing equipment that had expired.
"In today's operation, more than 30 enforcement officers including the KPDN branches in Port Dickson and Kuala Pilah were involved in conducting inspections on durian traders," she told reporters after conducting inspections on durian traders around Seremban here today.
Faizah also reminded all traders, especially durian traders, to always ensure that the weighing equipment and scales used have verification stickers and are not expired.
She said traders found to be still using weighing equipment that does not comply with the regulations and could be subject to compounds under the Weights and Measures Act 1972.
"This durian season is expected to continue until August and I remind all traders including small-scale and seasonal traders to remain committed to complying with all relevant regulations and legislation involving buying and selling transactions.
"All parties need to play a proactive role to ensure that this durian season brings joy to traders, without denying consumers' rights," she said.

4WD ‘squeezer' says he rushed to see ill mum
KLANG: The man seen in a viral video attempting to squeeze his four-wheel drive vehicle between other vehicles and threatening road users on the Selat Klang Highway has claimed he was rushing to his mother's house after she suffered a fall. Klang Utara OCPD Asst Comm S. Vijaya Rao said the 29-year-old man turned up at the traffic division of the Klang Utara police headquarters at 10pm on Saturday, with by a lawyer, to lodge a report. 'Based on his statement, the suspect said he was heading to his mother's house to take her to hospital after she fell at home,' he said in a statement, Bernama reported. ACP Vijaya said the man was detained at 1.30am for a urine test, which returned negative for drugs, and was released on police bail at 3am. The case has since been reclassified under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving. It was reported that police were trying to track down the driver based on the viral video.

MACC identifies two more companies in data centre graft
KUALA LUMPUR: Two more companies suspected of obtaining data centre construction projects by bribing the project manager of a construction company, have been identified by graft busters. According to a source in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), several company directors have also been identified and will be called to assist in the investigation into the case. 'The investigation also found that the main suspect, the project manager, admitted to having asked for about 3% of the project value from any company that wanted to obtain a project from a prominent construction company,' he said yesterday. The source informed that the bribe was done by leaking the tender price and helping to ensure that the company that paid the bribe was given priority to win the tender. 'This bribe was paid in stages according to the progress of the project payment and it is understood that there are several million more that have yet to be paid by the company to the suspect as per their agreement,' the source said, Bernama reported. The media previously reported that a project manager of a prominent construction company who was detained for investigation into a corruption case involving the procurement of a data centre construction project tender was willing to burn almost RM1mil in cash to destroy evidence after being shocked by the MACC raid through Ops Ways on Thursday. According to sources, during the raid conducted at his home in Petaling Jaya, a team of officers found RM100 banknotes totalling almost RM1mil in flames. As a result of a thorough inspection of the home, the MACC also found cash totalling about RM7.5mil stored in several pillow boxes, three Rolex, Omega and Cartier watches as well as jewellery such as rings and gold coins. On Friday, the media reported that a contract manager, his wife and two men, aged in the 40s and 60s, were arrested by the MACC Investigation Division around the Klang Valley, believed to be involved in corruption involving the procurement of a data centre construction project tender in Johor worth about RM180mil.
