Daily Mail18-05-2025
A '90s pop star has shared a number of sweet snaps to mark her son's 17th birthday on Instagram.
The singer admitted that 'time has flown' since she first welcomed her 'young man' into the world.
In the series of pictures, the 17-year-old clearly takes after his famous mum with his blond locks and confident smile.
The popstar, who has also starred on Celebrity Big Brother, also shared a series of throwback snaps of her son with her 70.1K social media followers.
She penned: 'Lenny .. 17 years ago today I held you in my arms for the first time! Time has flown by and now you are a young man how did that happen! I hope you have a lovely birthday ! I'm proud of you always darling ! As we always say 831'.
But can you guess which chart-topping singer raised the teen?
That's right it's S Club 7 star Jo O'Meara!
The singer, 46, shares Lenny with her ex Bill Slater, who she dated for two years.
Fans rushed to the comments to wish Lenny happy birthday while others couldn't believe how grown up he is.
'Oh my goodness, you look to young to be a mum of a 17 year old Jo; HAPPY BIRTHDAY LENNY!!!; Happy Birthday Lenny! Have a wonderful day;
'Happy birthday Lenny, I hope you have a lovely day. Cannot believe that's him 17 now.. where has the time gone; I cannot believe he's 17! Geesh! happy Birthday Lenny'.
It comes days after Jo was rushed to hospital as she has been plagued with further health woes.
The S Club 7 star - who previously admitted to suffering 'the worst pain' with her back - appeared to be in hospital receiving medical treatment for it once again.
The blonde took to her Instagram Story to share a selfie - looking downcast - while lying in a hospital bed.
Fans rushed to the comments to with Lenny happy birthday while others couldn't believe how grown up he is
She appeared devastated to be in hospital as she shared the health update, alongside a crying emoji, with her concerned fans and famous friends.
Jo explained that she felt down over the latest health woe and didn't expect to be there as she was supposed to be on the 'road to recovery'.
Alongside her picture she penned: 'Back in hospital! The back is back! I didn't expect to be in here today'.
While the exact cause for her admission is unclear, Jo had emergency surgery on her back in November 2022 to remove a disc and had to cancel gigs at the time including Fife Pride as a result.
At the time she revealed that she was 'devastated' and in a 'horrendous' amount of pain after the operation didn't work quite as well as expected.
She was back in hospital shortly after a previous visit and posted a picture of her drip with the caption: 'When am I gonna get a break ?? I really thought I was on the road to recovery.
'4am this morning the pain was the worst it's been yet! So here we are again ! I am devastated.'
She added no more information as to when she might be out or news of a possible remedy. On October 25 Jo revealed the first operation hadn't worked.
Speaking from her bed in an Instagram video she said she has to go back for more surgery after a recent MRI and said she feels like she's 'in a really bad place' at the moment.
'As you can see I'm back in bed. That is because the back is playing games again,' she said in a clip.
'The pain has been absolutely horrendous and today I got some MRI scan results back that wasn't the result I wanted.
'I've actually got to go back into hospital for further surgery on my back which I'm absolutely devastated about to be honest. The pain is… horrendous.'
Jo admitted her injury was taking its toll on her mental health as she said: 'And it's been making me feel really quite in a bad place if I'm being honest.'
'I've felt really low. The last few days have been really tough but I'm hopefully with this next surgery, I will be back fighting fit and ready to get out there again so positive thinking.'
She captioned her post: 'So I got the MRI scan results I didn't want to see, and I am going to have to go back in for another back operation to try and get it fixed! I'm totally gutted that it didn't work the first time, but my back is in a bit of a mess to be honest!'
She then thanked fans for their support, writing: 'Thank you for all your love and support you continue to show me! And don't forget it's almost Halloween @ that means one thing!! Stream 'Thriller'! I love you all very much.'
The singer, who previously opened up about her struggle with gambling addiction, was initially injured in 2002 while filming S Club film Seeing Double.
Just last month, she revealed she needed 'urgent' back surgery after being rushed to hospital while rehearsing for a gig.
The S Club star, took to Instagram and shared a photo of herself wearing a hospital gown as she announced some 'devastating' news.
The singer revealed at the time that she wouldn't be performing after needing surgery on her back to 'remove the disk and fix the problem'.
She penned: 'UPDATE‼️ I am so devastated and sorry to have announce, that I will not be able to attend @fifepride on Saturday!
'As you may well know I have had some health issues with my back recently and it has resulted in me needing surgery to remove the disc and fix the problem.
'The pain has been unbearable, and I have been advised surgery is now my only option and been told this is something that's needs doing urgently to prevent further damage to my back!
'So I will be going in for the procedure tomorrow! I am beyond upset to be missing out on such a special day, and I am so so sorry.
'I hope you all understand that this decision was very hard but I must put my health first at this time!!
'Sending you all so much love and please make sure to Reach for those Stars. Lots of love Jo'.
