Dakota Johnson wants to direct and create female-centric films; she desires to play a psychopath and an action role
, the 'Materialist' star, has an aim and a dream to achieve in Hollywood, and she is not wasting time. The 35-year-old wants to direct her own feature film, continue to tell female-centric stories through her production house, avoid 'toxic sets,' and measure the success of the film through viewer impact rather than box office.
Additionally, she has a desire to play a psychopath in the film and an action role.
Dakota Johnson wants to direct...
In a press roundtable at the 59th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) in the Czech Republic, Johnson was asked whether she would be contributing beyond acting and producing in the film industry. She said, 'I think I will direct a feature, a very small one, hopefully soon. And it's really close to my heart and very close to TeaTime.
We're making it with Vanessa Burghardt, who played my daughter in Cha Cha Real Smooth.
She's an incredible autistic actress,' adding that she was always scared, but she feels protective and won't let anybody else direct the film with Burghadt.
Real, Provocative, Complex
When asked about what projects she wishes to do, Dakota highlighted that she would be focusing on female-centric visions that feel real, provocative, and complex. 'I mean it in [the sense] that it provokes something that is different than what you see on TV right now or on streaming platforms.

A lot of them are also female characters. So it's female-centric films where the woman is different from what you see, and complex and nuanced, and maybe an anti-hero that you love,' she said, adding that the females would likely do something atrocious, but the audience would be on her side because she is angry.
Dakota Johnson is not wasting time on toxic sets...
Moreover, Dakota seemed firm on producing her films through her banner as she couldn't waste any more time on toxic sets.
When producing her projects, she gets to handpick what and whom she wants on the film sets, creating a healthy environment. Additionally, the actress remarked that the measures of a 'successful film' are evolving, and are more than just box office numbers, because they are all over the place. Dakota said that success is more when people come up to you and say that they loved the film.
A psychopath and an action film
When she was asked about the characters or roles she would love to play in the future. The actress said, 'There are roles that I dream of playing. I would love to play a psychopath, would love to do an action film,' according to The Hollywood Reporter.

One-take movie by Iranian director among 98 films competing at fest
1 2 Kolkata: Ninety-eight films, exploring diverse subjects, such as AI, the desire for hilsa in a patriarchal household and Kolkata's music shop, are vying for the top awards at the 8th South Asian Short Film Festival that started at Nandan on Monday. Among the entries at the festival, launched by the Federation of Film Societies of India (Eastern Region), is a single-take film—'Spasm' —by an Iranian director and an Indian producer. Directed by Sahra Asadollahi and produced by Deepankar Prakash, the short film, 'Spasm', is about what happens when a woman who has never acted in film goes for an audition that becomes a test of more than just her acting ability. "I met Sahra at a festival in Nepal in 2023. Soon, we decided to collaborate and started work on this 27-minute-long film. Sahra, an actor in Iran, shot the film completely in Tehran, while I was in India. She herself played the role of the woman in the film," said Prakash, whose 'Naanera' had won in the competition on Indian Language's Films at the Kolkata International Film Festival in 2022. From her father's horse to her 10-month-old baby—questions are flung at her from all quarters. Finally, a situation arises where she is compelled to believe she is rejected. But the situation takes a different turn when she is told the confrontation was deliberately orchestrated to evaluate her acting skill. In recent times, the long single-take shooting approach, especially after the success of 'Adolescence', has got cine enthusiasts talking. 'Spasm' is the first one-take film in competition at the South Asian Short Film Festival. What makes this film engaging is how minimalism has been effectively used to counter the challenges of filming by a woman director in Iran. Shot inside one room with minimal production and sound design, 'Spasm' features only an animated Asadollahi seated in front of the camera. The camera angle is such that the faces of no other cast member, including the director and the producer, are visible. For many independent film-makers, who complain about shortage of funds and lack of infrastructure in this city, the film is a lesson on how big ideas, not big budgets, are important for good cinema. "Sahra is unable to come to Kolkata now because of the situation in her country. But I will be at the festival," Prakash added.

Jennifer Lopez breaks silence on divorce with Ben Affleck: 'It almost took me out for good...'
After months of speculation and silence, Jennifer Lopez has finally opened up about her divorce from Ben Affleck, revealing how the heartbreak nearly consumed her, but ultimately became the fuel for her most personal and powerful music yet. A love story ends, Quietly As reported by Marie Claire, Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, and the split was finalized in January 2025, marking the end of a two-year marriage that had captivated fans around the world. The timing was especially painful, it coincided with what would have been their second wedding anniversary. Sources close to the couple told Marie Claire that Lopez was 'furious and humiliated' by how things ended, and that both she and Affleck had lingering doubts before making the final decision. Despite the emotional toll, Lopez has chosen to speak openly about the experience, telling Interview Magazine, 'It almost took me out for good. But now, on the other side of it, I think, 'That's exactly what I needed.'' 'Wreckage of you': A song born from solitude At a private listening party in Los Angeles, Lopez debuted a new track titled 'Wreckage of You,' which she said was written just two weeks prior. 'Last year was a very difficult time for me, both personally and professionally,' she said. 'I had to cancel my tour and really focus on myself.' One attendee described the track as 'a very emotional, empowering song about walking away from a relationship and coming out a stronger person'. The mansion that won't let go Despite the emotional clarity Lopez has found, some practical remnants of the relationship remain unresolved. According to Marie Claire, Lopez and Affleck have struggled to sell their 60 million dollars Los Angeles mansion, which was listed in 2024 but has since been pulled from the market. The home, once a symbol of their rekindled romance, now stands as a lingering reminder of what once was. A new era: Tour, transformation, and total freedom Lopez is now preparing to launch her 'Up All Night' world tour, which kicks off in Pontevedra, Spain, on July 8, 2025, and will span Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia before returning to the U.S. for a Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace beginning December 30, 2025, through March 2026. In her Interview Magazine profile, Lopez emphasized that she's not looking for love right now. 'Being in a relationship doesn't define me,' she said. 'I can't be looking for happiness in other people. I have to have happiness within myself'. A voice reclaimed Lopez's decision to speak out is more than a celebrity confession—it's a declaration of self-worth. As she told E! Online, 'This is exactly where I needed to be, to lead me to where I want to go.' She added, 'That doesn't mean it didn't almost take me out for good. It almost did. But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, 'F--k, that is exactly what I needed''.
