The Cavinder Twins and Raising Cane's CEO on Success
"I don't think entrepreneurs are created — entrepreneurs are born."
So says Todd Graves, the billionaire founder and CEO of Raising Cane's, the chicken finger casual dining chain with over 900 restaurants nationwide.
Graves joined twin sisters Hanna and Haley Cavinder, former University of Miami basketball players who became trailblazers in the NIL space, to talk about the drive it takes to succeed in business on a new episode of The Playbook.
On each episode of The Playbook, produced by Sports Illustrated and Entrepreneur, athletes and entrepreneurs come together to share advice and lessons they've learned along their paths to greatness.

Although their businesses might vary greatly — Graves runs a restaurant empire while Hanna and Haley are influencers who created the TWOgether fitness app and co-founded Hustle Beauty for athletes — there is crossover in how they pursue their passions.
It starts with showing up like an athlete. "It was very seamless when we got into the NIL space and then started our own business," Hanna says. "All of those traits from college athletics carried over. The discipline and routine and the commitment to give 100% because there are other people relying on you."
Graves feels the same way. "You might be tired one day, but people show up to our restaurants and are willing to pay good money, so you've got to deliver."
Graves, Hanna and Haley also believe in the power of connecting with customers through authenticity. "People love founder-driven businesses because a founder cares, and their business is an extension of them," Graves says. Haley adds that being positive and honest on social media has been the key to nurturing their community of millions. "That really helped us when we started the health and fitness side of things," she says. Putting out genuine content that spoke about mental health helped them build lasting relationships with their followers, and they say the feedback they've gotten keeps them fulfilled and eager to do more.

Kai Trump teases the president in video promoting Accelerator energy drink: ‘Sorry grandpa'
First granddaughter and golf sensation Kai Trump teased her grandfather over his preferred caffeinated beverage in a video promoting her NIL deal with Accelerator Active Energy. In the ad, the 18-year-old rising high school senior and University of Miami golf commit slaps a wicked drive off a tee and then makes her way to the cart where a crispy looking can of Diet Coke — President Trump's go-to drink — and a can of the energy drink sit. 'Sorry grandpa,' Kai Trump said while choosing to sip from the Accelerator Active Energy drink. 'It's pretty cool, especially being partners with such great athletes and being up there with them,' Kai Trump told Fox Business about the deal. The daughter of first son Donald Trump Jr. became a breakout star of the Republican National Convention last summer where she delivered a well-prepared speech to throngs of adoring GOPers. 4 'Sorry grandpa,' Kai jokes while taking a slug of the energy drink. Earlier this year, the teen opened up about life with a Secret Service detail. 'It's tough because you're in high school and you want to have your privacy,' the golf phenom said in a video posted to her YouTube page. Canada Names National Development Team Roster For Summer Series
For the second straight summer, Hockey Canada will lean on youth at the August 13-16 Summer Series against USA with their national development team roster. Canada named a 23-player roster for the three-game series against USA's Collegiate Select roster including 12 members of their national development team roster from last season that won silver at the 2024 Women's Euro Hockey Tour's Six Nations tournament. 'We are excited to return to the international stage with a strong group of athletes who bring both experience and fresh energy to our development team,' said national development team head coach Alison Domenico. 'It is an honour to be back behind the bench, and our staff is eager to continue guiding our talented athletes as they take the next steps in their growth within our program.' Among the returnees to their roster are captain Jocelyn Amos, Tova Henderson, Jordan Baxter, Avi Adam, Claire Murdoch, Hailey MacLeod, Ava Murphy, Ashley Messier, Emma Pais, Madeline Palumbo, Sarah Paul, Sara Swiderski, and Emma Venusio. Adding to their national team experience are a large group of U-18 national team players including Mackenze Alexander, Eloise Caron, Hannah Clark, Piper Grober, Makayla Watson, and Alyssa Regalado, who all played in the NCAA last season. Canada also named five players who will make their NCAA debuts this season including goaltender Rhyah Stewart, and forwards Maxine Cimeroni, Sienna D'Alessandro, Sara Manness, and Stryker Zablocki. Notably absent from their 2025 roster is standout Caitlin Kraemer. The omission likely means Kraemer is either recovering from injury, or will be part of Canada's senior national team centralizations. Eve Gascon was also not named to their roster again as she'll be with the senior national team. Alex Law was the only other player not returning, but she struggled last season with Boston University. From last year's national development team that played in the Women's Euro Hockey Tour, seven players were selected in the 2025 PWHL Draft, including first-round picks Nicole Gosling, Kendall Cooper, and Jenna Buglioni, and second-round picks Anne Cherkowski and Hannah Murphy. Other PWHL picks from Canada's national development team were Sarah Wozniewicz and Maya Labad. USA Hockey Unveils National Festival Roster Providing Sneak Peek At Olympic Hopefuls USA Hockey is bringing together 76 professional and college players for their 2025 National Festival slated for August 3-9 in Lake Placid.

Notre Dame's backup RB Jadarian Price has multiple top-level NIL partnerships
It pays to play for Notre Dame football, even when you aren't the starter like running back Jadarian Price. The junior would start at a majority of other power programs across the country, but when you are teammates with Jeremiyah Love, that makes it a little more difficult. That hasn't changed the way that many companies view Price as an ambassador for their brands, and in a picture shared by On3's Tyler Horka, there are multiple Name, Image and Likeness deals that the backup running back has signed. Some of the bigger ones are Powerade, Lexus, and the Topps trading card company, and we have already highlighted a deal with famous jeweler Johnny Dang. Price through the A&P Sports Agency have amassed a very large and impressive amount of NIL deals. Price could leave to the NFL after this year, but with so many NIL partnerships, he might make just as much during his senior season as opposed to moving to the professional ranks. He'd be RB1 if he opts to say, with potentially more deals on his way. Regardless of what happens, this is just more ammo for the Notre Dame coaching staff to use in recruiting, as they can show that you don't have to be a starter to receive multiple NIL deals.
