Hannah Hampton admits throwing Spain counterpart's water bottle into crowd

Chelsea stopper Hampton had England's own insider information written on a piece of paper taped to her arm – which proved crucial with stops from Mariona Caldentey and Aitana Bonmati before Chloe Kelly scored the decisive kick as the Lionesses retained the trophy.
The 24-year-old admitted she took the opportunity to try to negate any impact Spain's penalty research might have, with Coll still saving efforts from Beth Mead and then captain Leah Williamson during the shoot-out, which England won 3-1.
🤷‍♂️ "I chucked her bottle into the English fans so she can't have it!"
🫢 "She was so confused and I was trying to not burst out laughing!"

'The Spanish keeper had it on her bottle,' Hampton told talkSPORT.
'So I thought when she was going in goal I'll just pick it up and throw it into the English fans so she can't have it.'
Hampton added: 'I never put it on a bottle because anyone can do that, so that is why I put it on my arm, and the TV caught that.
'It wasn't hard – when she has gone in the goal it (the bottle) is on its own isn't it? It is in a towel, you just pick it up.
'Mine is blank, but it has the same sponsors and stuff so I just put mine in there, chucked her one into the fans and she had an empty bottle, she was looking for where it is.
'She was walking back and I was walking the other way. She was so confused.
'I was trying so hard not to burst out laughing (because) I was like 'oh, I don't know where it has gone'…. but you have got to do something haven't you?'
England had also come through a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Sweden, where both sides failed to convert spot-kicks at crucial moments – which Hampton described as 'traumatic' and 'horrendous'.
However, the Chelsea keeper, who was named in UEFA's team of the tournament, felt much more relaxed ahead of the final showdown with Spain, which had ended 1-1 after extra-time in Basel.
Congratulations, Hannah! 🤩

'I was probably more comfortable in the fact that I knew we had practised penalties since that first one, so I knew we would put a few more in the back of the net,' Hampton said.
'Before the games we as a keeper group have meetings and we analyse every penalty that each individual from the opposing team has had – I think Alexia (Putellas) had 46 penalties we had to sit there and watch.
'You will watch it and pick out little things they do, whether they go one side or the other or have little subtleties in their run up or even their arm position.
'Then pressure penalties, where they tend to put them, you see all of that and then you see their run up and adapt in the moment to it.'

'Spicy' thriller tops Netflix chart after being binged for 56,900,000 hours

Non-English TV series are continuing to take Netflix by storm, with the latest chart-topping thriller drawing in millions of views in a matter of days. First released on July 30, Unspeakable Sins is a Spanish revenge drama about a woman who finds solace in the company of a younger man and embarks on an affair. Zuria Vega takes the lead as Helena, who conjures up a plan with a lover to escape her controlling husband, taking their troubled son with her. But she soon becomes dangerously entangled with secrets, lies, and Mexico's elite, as her act of vengeance outside her loveless marriage gets twisted into a perilous fight for survival. Other cast members include Erik Hayser, who plays powerful, abusive husband Claudio, while Andrés Baida plays Iván, who aids Helena in filing for divorce after a months-long steamy tryst. With 18 episodes, Unspeakable Sins promises plenty of salacious scheming, and you can be sure you're in safe hands with creator Leticia López Margalli, who's also the mastermind behind Netflix's Oscuro deseo. In the short time since its streaming debut, Unspeakable Sins has been watched for 56.9million hours in total, sending it rocketing to number one on the charts. And it's proven a hit with viewers, too, who are flooding social media with spicy reviews. X user @LoveReality9 described the series as 'addictive', already demanding a second season. 'Unspeakable Sins is extremely [spicy emojis] and addictive full of action taboo subjects full of mystery and one incredible ending of season one that will leave you with more questions! Every single time I got answers to my questions I had more questions', they wrote. '@netflix must renew it for a second season! Just WOW! This season is totally binge worthy!' 'Intense series. Loved it', added @david_clark34. Also heaping praise on the Spanish thriller, @katyanna25 posted: 'I can never get bored watching spanish shows. Almost always the same plot, but they always keep you hooked. #UnspeakableSins is one of them.' Taken aback by the show's explicit nature, @1Liasonfan wrote: 'I'm on episode 5, the sex scenes are def spicy, wow. The plot is not bad too. I can't turn away'. Others declared that the show has given them their new 'favourite villian', while many were left hot and bothered by the sexual scenes. In fact, @MelikhayaL3006 compared the show to porn, as @_Keshaye joked that things keep getting 'crazier and crazier'. And just in case all of that has still left you in need of some convincing, allow Netflix's Tudum to spill some more hints about what to expect. 'Their flirtation instantly explodes into a steamy tryst. Months later, the unlikely pair are in a relationship worth fighting for and must find a way for Helena to escape her abusive marriage to the rich and powerful Claudio (Hayser). 'When Iván suggests that he seduce Claudio, Helena's husband, on a hidden camera to give Helena enough leverage to file for an advantageous divorce, she jumps at the chance to free herself and her teenage son from Claudio's grip. 'But what starts as a seemingly foolproof plan quickly spirals out of control when Claudio can't take no for an answer, and the ensuing brawl exposes Helena and Iván's scheme. 'Helena arrives in the bloody aftermath only to find her husband missing, her lover on the run, and her son at the scene of the crime—without any memory of how he got there.' Tudum adds: 'As police flood the crime scene, Helena scrambles to cover up her and Iván's involvement and to protect her son from becoming an accidental fall guy. 'As she fends off the police, Claudio's adult children from his previous marriage, and Claudio's powerful business associates, Helena's already complicated life becomes a brutal fight for survival.' Non-English series have long been popular on the streaming platform, with season 3 of South Korean dystopian survival thriller Squid Game still flying high. More Trending Having dropped its final instalment on June 27, it's still attracting almost three million views weekly, having spent six weeks in Netflix's top 10 and charted in 60 countries. Other high-performing non-English programmes currently include South Korean action thriller Trigger, anime series My Melody & Kuromi, and South African crime thriller miniseries Marked. Tonight's rugby news as Rees-Zammit 'could have made' Jaguars team and England launch World Rugby appeal

Tonight's rugby news as Rees-Zammit 'could have made' Jaguars team and England launch World Rugby appeal The latest rugby news from Wales and beyond. Louis Rees-Zammit previously played for Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs. (Image: (Photo by)) Your rugby evening headlines on Saturday, August 9. ‌ Rees-Zammit 'could have made the Jaguars team' Louis Rees-Zammit could have made the Jacksonville Jaguars team, according to Sky Sports NFL pundit and former New York Giants cornerback Jason Bell. ‌ The former Gloucester Rugby winger has decided to quit American football and return to rugby after one season on the practice squad with Jaguars, with whom he did not play a regular season game. ‌ Preparing for his role as an analyst on Sky, Bell watched Rees-Zammit in pre-season training and was impressed with him, even suggesting he could have made the team. "Professional sport gives you a very short window," Bell said to The Guardian. "You're always fighting Father Time. "Louis should be very proud of himself. In the NFL we celebrate players who can play two different positions. The fact he even attempted to play a totally different sport at the very highest level is amazing. This year he could have made the team from what I saw in training, you never really know. Article continues below "I'm the wrong person to ask because I wasn't supposed to make it. I wasn't picked up in the draft, but ended up playing in the NFL for eight years." Rees-Zammit is now searching for his new club upon his return to rugby, with Cardiff and Bristol Bears just two of the clubs reportedly interested in acquiring his services. The Wales international is also being targeted by the new R360 league, which he will reportedly join next year after one season back in club rugby. ‌ England boss appeals to World Rugby over star's eligibility England head coach Steve Borthwick is appealing to World Rugby about the eligibility of English-based South African players, according to The Telegraph. Benhard Janse van Rensburg, Hanro Liebenberg and Jacques Vermeulen are players who are blocked from being called up by England because they have represented South Africa under-20s. However, the RFU believes they should be allowed to switch allegiance. Between 2015 and 2017, South Africa U20s were officially the 'next national representative team', meaning that despite the fact they never played for the senior side, these players are blocked from representing other countries. ‌ If World Rugby agrees with England's challenge, then it could unlock a whole host of Test match talent for Borthwick and Co. The meeting will take place at the end of September, and follows the news that the RFU wanted clarification over whether these South African players should remain "captured" by their country. Van Rensburg has openly discussed his desire to one day play Test rugby for England. ‌ Schmidt reveals Wallabies injury fallout from Lions series Australia head coach Joe Schmidt has offered a mixed update on the fitness of his star players just a week after their British & Irish Lions series triumph – and with the Rugby Championship opener against South Africa looming. Schmidt confirmed that key forwards Rob Valetini, Will Skelton and Taniela Tupou are all expected to be available for next Saturday's clash at Ellis Park, despite carrying knocks from the three-Test series win over the Lions. Tupou has been nursing a toe injury picked up during his influential display in the Sydney decider, while Valetini missed the first and third Tests with a calf problem. Skelton also sat out the opener with a similar issue before returning for the final two games. ‌ 'They're definitely all in contention for Ellis Park,' Schmidt told the Sydney Morning Herald. 'Will played 60 minutes [in the third Test], Nela [Tupou] played 60-odd in Sydney… Bobby [Valetini] did a really good run yesterday, so our ambition is that he'll train fully with us this week.' The Wallabies will face the Springboks again in Pretoria a week later. However, fly-half Tom Lynagh and prop Allan Alaalatoa remain longer-term concerns. Lynagh is following return-to-play protocols after concussion, while Alaalatoa is recovering from a shoulder injury. ‌ 'We're going to have to see how the next two weeks go for both of them,' Schmidt said. 'Allan is recovering pretty well… We'll also be really conservative with Tom. He's a young player and we've just got to make sure we look after them as best we can.' Ireland fall to Canada in final warm-up game before World Cup By PA Sport Staff Canada scored seven tries on their way to a 47-26 victory over Ireland in their final Women's Rugby World Cup warm-up match. ‌ Ireland made 10 changes as they prepare for their first game of the tournament against Japan on August 24 but they were second best in Belfast. Canada raced into an early 14-0 lead as Florence Symonds and Justine Pelletier touched down under the posts. Canada's Daleaka Menin was then sent to the sin bin for high contact on Ivana Kiripati and they were made to pay when the hosts halved the deficit through Beibhinn Parsons' try in the corner. ‌ Pelletier restored the 14-point lead for Canada before Ireland were reduced to 14 players when captain Neve Jones was shown yellow for conceding too many penalties. Menin barged over for a fourth try before Paige Farries helped make it 33-7 at the break. Julia Schell walked under the sticks to push Canada over the 40-mark but Ireland started to score points of their own. Article continues below Anna McGann helped herself to a couple of tries and Parson scored a third unanswered try before Canada's Sophie de Goede capped off the win.

Phil Parkinson bemoans ‘game changing' decision as Southampton deny Wrexham

Josh Windass put Wrexham ahead from the penalty spot in their Championship opener after Kieffer Moore was blatantly pushed over when through on goal in the 22nd minute. But Edwards was only booked and Saints took advantage of keeping 11 players on the field as substitute Ryan Manning swept home a brilliant 25-yard free-kick in the 90th minute. Saints skipper Jack Stephens added to Wrexham's agony in the sixth minute of stoppage time by firing home off the crossbar. 'He was clean through and he gets pushed down for the penalty,' Parkinson said after Wrexham's first game in the second tier of English football for 43 years. 'I've spoken to the ref and said, 'Look, my interpretation of that rule is if it's an intentional push it's a straight red'. 'I saw it from the touchline and the footage again at half-time. I can't see how he's not got that right because it's a game-changing moment as they're down to 10 men. 'I know the ref feels there's a covering defender. But if you're about to strike the ball on goal where he was on the pitch, and the player intentionally pushes you to the ground, the ref's got to make that call right.' After winning three successive promotions to move from the National League to the Championship in record-breaking time, the Welsh club owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have invested heavily this summer. Six of their eight summer signings started and Wrexham had chances through Lewis O'Brien and Ryan Hardie to extend their lead, while Windass struck the woodwork from 25 yards before opening the scoring. Parkinson said: 'I think when we reflect, it's a very proud day for the club playing at this level and there was a lot of positives for us. 'The new lads came in and have done really well but the existing players as well, I thought they were really good. 'That gives us great heart for the season ahead.' Wales striker Moore, signed from Sheffield United at the start of the week, will be assessed after being forced off after 54 minutes, with Parkinson identifying the injury as 'ankle ligaments'. For Saints boss Will Still – the youngest manager in the Championship at 32 – it was a winning start in English football after working in Belgium and France. Still said: 'It was crazy. We created some really big opportunities in the first half and in the second half we took control. 'We said everyone's important and got to play a role. The subs have done that and shown how strong our squad is. 'Good to show a bit of grit and determination. To bring the energy and place alive which probably helped us bundle the ball over the line is good.'
