The reason Man Utd and Newcastle target Benjamin Sesko is out of RB Leipzig game

Metro4 days ago
Manchester United and Newcastle transfer target Benjamin Sesko has not been included in RB Leipzig's squad for Saturday's friendly against Atalanta.
The 22-year-old's future is the subject of intense speculation with the Magpies having tabled a bid amid reports he has taken the decision to move to St James' Park.
Earlier this week it had been reported that the Slovenia international had his heart set on a switch to Old Trafford and it remains to be seen whether or not United table a rival offer.
Sesko had been due to play a part in Leipzig's game in Bergomo this afternoon but has been omitted, according to Sky Germany, so not to jeopardies a transfer.
The striker is said to have already said goodbye to his teammates despite his eventual destination remaining up in the air.

Jurgen Klopp could play crucial role to help Liverpool complete Alexander Isak transfer

Jurgen Klopp is now a leading figure at Red Bull and he's central to their pursuit of Harvey Elliott - which could help fund Liverpool's pursuit of Alexander Isak Liverpool remain keen on landing Alexander Isak, who has told Newcastle he wants to seek pastures new - with the Reds already seeing an opening bid for the Swede rejected. ‌ They tabled an overall over worth £120million, but that was knocked back by their Premier League rivals. The Magpies value Isak closer to £150m after seeing him establish himself as one of Europe's leading No 9s since moving to St James' Park. ‌ Liverpool have already spent well over £200m but could still break the British-transfer record for the second time in a single summer. Their transfer efforts will be aided by more money coming into the club and former manager Jurgen Klopp is now Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull and plays a major role in their recruitment. ‌ Bild reports that Klopp is particularly keen to bring Harvey Elliott to RB Leipzig with the Englishman tipped to move on this summer. Despite having options to remain in England the German, who bought Elliott to Anfield back in 2019, wants to lure him to the Bundesliga. Elliott has seen his stock rise this summer after excelling at the U21 Euros with England, where he was named Player of the Tournament. He is being eyed by the likes of Brighton and West Ham, but Leipzig represent a chance for him to head overseas. Liverpool are looking to bank around £50m if they are to let Elliott, who only started two Premier League games last term, leave. That fee would also represent pure profit and further bolster their transfer kitty ahead of a renewed move for Isak. ‌ Germany has proved to be an excellent environment for English talent to thrive. Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, who both made their names at Borussia Dortmund, are shining examples of how heading to the Bundesliga can be hugely beneficial for one's career. The 22-year-old acknowledges he needs to be selfish with his next move and said recently: 'If I had it my way, I would be here for the rest of my career, it's as simple as that. I love everything about the club. But at the same time, I kind of need to be selfish with myself and see what's best for me. "I have big ambitions, I want to get in the World Cup [squad], keep being successful as a player. I think it's still something I need to review, I need to have a talk with everyone and review the situation. Obviously we have many new players that have come in, so whether it blocks the path for me, I'm not sure. It's something for me to decide and have a look at. As I said, just review the situation." Wayne Rooney's son Kai, 15, jumps THREE age groups as he's called up to Man Utd u19s pre-season tour

KAI ROONEY has received a last-minute call-up to Manchester United's Under-19 squad for a prestigious tournament in Croatia. The 15-year-old forward impressed during the Under-16's run to the final of the youth Super Cup NI - more commonly known to fans as the Milk Cup. 6 6 6 Kai, who can operate both on the wing and as a No9 like his dad Wayne, scored and assisted in United's opening game in Northern Ireland. He played a starring role as United went undefeated in their group before losing 1-0 to Southampton Under-16s in Sunday's final at the Coleraine Showgrounds. Wayne and Coleen were in the crowd as Saints wonderkid Jude Daniels stole the glory before whipping out Wazza's famous knockout celebration. But despite being on summer break from school, Kai has been invited to compete in an international tournament against opponents three years his senior. The teen has travelled with United's Under-19 squad to face Europe's finest academy sides in the Mladen Ramljak Tournament in Croatia. And buzzing Kai shared a picture from his digs featuring a swimming pool with a scenic city view, captioning the Instagram story: "19s tournament soon." The young Red Devils have been placed in Group A with Juventus, Rapid Bucuresti and Dinamo Zagreb. Their first game is against Romanian side Rapid on Thursday. United have told SunSport that several other players across the Under-15s and 16s will feature too. Meanwhile, the academy sides of Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, Bologna and Shakhtar Donetsk make up Group B. Man Utd vs Newcastle: Sesko bidding war begins | Transfers Exposed There are high hopes for Kai at United after he followed in his iconic dad's footsteps by signing as an 11-year-old in 2020. But he has a long way to go in emulating Wazza's record-breaking total of 253 goals from 559 appearances at Old Trafford. Kai isn't the only young exciting United prospect in Croatia - in fact someone even YOUNGER earned his plane ticket months ago. The club had already called up 14-year-old JJ Gabriel - the whizzkid who has been dubbed the "Kid Messi" after taking the Under-18s by storm last season. Gabriel, signed by Nike at the age of 11, became the youngest player to feature for the Under-18s in April after making his debut against Leeds United, scoring twice after coming on as a substitute. The centre forward turns 15 in October so will be eligible to play in the Prem, with Arsenal rival starlet Max Dowman also in line with a shout. Both Gabriel and Dowman are in with a chance of becoming the youngest player to ever grace the top-flight. The current record is held by Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri, who was 15 years and 181 days when he played against Brentford in September 2022. 6

Benjamin Sesko boasts Cristiano Ronaldo-esque leap set to strike fear in Premier League defenders upon Man Utd move

After choosing Manchester United ahead of Newcastle, the RB Leipzig striker will be delighted if he can make half the impact of another forward known for gravity-defying jumps at Old Trafford, namely Cristiano Ronaldo. 11 Benjamin Sesko is closing in on joining Man United Credit: AFP 11 He possesses an incredible leap Credit: Getty 11 The striker can outjump most defenders Credit: tiktok Play Dream Team now! Eight years ago, when still in his native Slovenia, Sesko posted an incredible video of him flying so high he could kick out at a basketball hoop — the global standard height is TEN FEET or just over three metres. In slow motion, the footage shows him jumping towards the backboard and dislodging a ball from the rim with his foot. This video eventually came to the attention of the recruitment department at Red Bull Salzburg and they started tracking this freak of nature. Aged 16, Sesko would eventually head to Austria. Sesko now stands at 6ft 5in and can jump not far off a further four feet, which is extraordinary. He is literally head and shoulders above his peers. United boss Ruben Amorim will utilise Sesko's super-human strength this season to finally help the Red Devils restore their bite in front of goal. Sesko's aerial ability, speed and power make him a real threat. SUN VEGAS WELCOME OFFER: GET £50 BONUS WHEN YOU JOIN He will certainly give defences food for thought — fuelled by plenty of protein. His breakfast consists of FOUR fried eggs, yoghurt with berries, muesli and freshly-squeezed fruit juice. For lunch, Sesko has chicken, rice, carrots and broccoli, with two slices of bread, followed by a fruit salad featuring mango, watermelon and pineapple. Bruno Fernandes branded 'proper captain' for his miserable trophy 'celebration' after Man Utd win Prem Summer Series Dinner is salmon with potato and a tomato and cucumber salad, before finishing the day with yet more muesli, this time livened up with some Quark cheese, cashew nuts, kiwi fruit and blueberries. His approach is bearing fruit, and although Sesko's shot accuracy and conversion rate need to improve with experience, he could be a huge success for the Red Devils over the next few years. It is turning into a nightmare for Newcastle, especially with star striker Alexander Isak looking to leave with Liverpool heavily linked. Meanwhile, the Old Trafford side will get a player who at Salzburg was known as the 'new Erling Haaland', with Manchester City's Norwegian star having made his mark at the club before leaving for Borussia Dortmund. 11 Sesko could lift Man United back to its old heights Credit: AFP 11 He can compete with basketballers Credit: Youtube / RB Leipzi 11 He could be a threat from lofted crosses Credit: Getty 11 His aerial ability has been compared to that of Cristiano Ronaldo Credit: Getty 11 CR7 made gigantic leaps one of his calling cards during his career Credit: AFP Sesko's leap only became famous a few years ago and until he began to flourish in Salzburg, was largely unknown. Yet as he found his feet in Austria, he moved to Leipzig and then started to terrorise Bundesliga defences. Sesko has remained a shy person and rarely gives an insight into his private life on Instagram unlike other players. Right now, you could argue, Sesko's possible future brother-in-law is actually more famous across the UK than him. His girlfriend, Anita, is the sister of Boris who has recently starred on Love Island. Sesko will form part of a new, three-pronged attacking dream team with £62.5million Matheus Cunha and £65m Bryan Mbuemo. The three scored 48 league goals between them last season, which is more than the entire United team managed in the Prem (44). Amorim opting for this line-up would mean skipper Bruno Fernandes dropping back into a deeper midfield role instead of occupying a No 10 spot himself. 11 He will have lofty ambitions at Old Trafford Credit: Getty 11 He was also wanted by Newcastle this summer Credit: Getty 11 Since August 2023, striker Sesko has been the top-scoring player in Europe aged under 23. He has struck 39 times, one ahead of midfield pair Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid and five more than Liverpool new boy Florian Wirtz. After Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich (33) is Rasmus Hojlund with 26 goals. Yet United have been willing to listen to offers for Hojlund, and are ready to accept as little as £30m for the player they paid £64m for in 2023, although the Dane still wants to fight for his place in Manchester. Born just a few months before Sesko in 2003, Hojlund still has work to do but it might not be the worst thing for United — if they can afford to keep him — to allow him to grow alongside Sesko. You could see why joining Newcastle would have been a good option for Sesko. A side featuring in the Champions League this season and one where he could become a hero. Yet United are the biggest club in England and while they are not in European competition this term, their time will come again. With his three-pronged strikeforce and the genius of Fernandes pulling the strings behind them, Amorim's men could be a force in the Premier League this season. And United's fans, like Sesko, could be jumping for joy.
