From Manhattan to Dublin: Chris Klieman leads Kansas State into Irish battle with Iowa State
Kansas State isn't easing into its 2025 season. Instead, the Wildcats open with a major conference showdown against Iowa State in Dublin, Ireland.
Head coach Chris Klieman acknowledged both the excitement and the challenge of taking his team overseas. 'We're…going from camp to the game mode as well as just all the logistics of the travel,' he said. 'It's good that our kids aren't in class probably right now, so we can handle all those things as well as continue our preparation.'
The Wildcats will practice twice more in Manhattan before boarding the team plane. They do have a Thursday workout in Dublin scheduled that Klieman admitted could be the most difficult adjustment. 'We arrive at about the same time of going through your daily process and having a really productive Thursday and then trying to get back on schedule. Thursday will be a tough day honestly for both teams.'
The head coach praised his office and training staff for preparing players for the transatlantic flight. 'Everybody in our support staff has done a really good job from nutrition, hydration, sleep, recovery, activation,' he said
There will be moments to soak in the atmosphere. The Wildcats will tour parts of Dublin Thursday evening, share a team dinner, and participate in Friday's pep rally. 'We're going to enjoy the time when we're doing those type things,' Klieman said. 'But then we've got to have a business attitude when we have our practices, our meetings, and our walkthroughs.'
Still, he admitted the scene at Aviva Stadium will feel surreal. 'You're crazy if you don't pinch yourself to say, 'Wow, what a moment that we're in right now.' The band's a huge part of that. Our fan base is a huge part of that. And the amount of people I can't thank…that are already over there, having a blast. That's a credit to K-State Nation.'
For Klieman, once the ball is kicked off, it's simple: 'It's a football game, whether it's at our place, at Jack Trice, or in Aviva Stadium.'

DOUBLE Liverpool transfer deal moves closer
Liverpool's recruitment department is expected to be as busy as ever over the next two weeks. Plenty of transfer moves have already been conducted, but you'd expect some last minute decisions to still be made before the window closes, and the choices made will have huge repercussions. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas home range 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the away range TODAY LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! LFC x adidas Shop the goalkeeper range today LFC x adidas Shop the new adidas range today! In the first team, incoming moves for Marc Guehi and Alexander Isak are being considered right now, although each of their circumstances are far from straightforward, so nothing is guaranteed yet. 🔴 Meanwhile, the academy will sanction a number of moves as well to help fast-track players' development, whether they be permanent departures or loan moves before they return next year. U21s on the move According to Lewis Bower, a journalist that follows all the ins and outs of the Liverpool academy, two players were left out of the Under-21s matchday squad for Monday night, suggesting transfer moves. He said: "No Lewis Koumas or Kaide Gordon this evening, which is likely suggestive towards impending moves." Both players are considered on the periphery of joining the first team, getting regular call-ups during pre-season campaign and will likely feature in both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup this season. Since the Reds have already made it public that Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni will be given roles in Arne Slot's side this season, the presumption is that they will need to get the necessary minutes for their development elsewhere, playing with higher-quality players than their academy teammates. Liverpool have a number of players on loan right now, featuring in Scotland and the English Football League - primarily the Championship, with Derby currently hosting a number of ex-Liverpool wonderkids - but clubs such as Brentford in the Premier League also have plenty of ex-Red alumni. You would presume that any potential departures for Koumas or Gordon would be straight loan moves, since they are highly-talented attackers that might fancy their chances of breaking into the first team next season, but permanent moves might also be considered if the price is right. Regardless, it's worth keeping an eye on the reports over the next few weeks for them, alongside potential incoming moves for Guehi and Isak. There's a lot of transfer business still to get finalised.

Salah and Caldentey voted player of the year by fellow pros in English soccer
LONDON (AP) — Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Arsenal midfielder Mariona Caldentey were voted the men's and women's player of the year in English soccer for last season at the Professional Footballers' Association awards on Tuesday. For Salah, it marks a record third time he has won the award that is voted by his fellow professionals. The 33-year-old Egypt international scored 29 goals and provided 18 assists in the Premier League as Liverpool powered to a record-equaling 20th English top-flight championship. Salah also collected the Football Writers' Association's Footballer of the Year award for a third time earlier in the year. The 29-year-old Caldentey enjoyed a brilliant first season at Arsenal, scoring 19 goals in all competitions — including eight on her team's journey to lifting the Champions League trophy with a victory in the final against her former club, Barcelona. Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers was voted as the men's young player of the year, while Olivia Smith — the Canada striker now at Arsenal after a world-record transfer — won the women's equivalent after a strong season at Liverpool. ___ AP soccer: The Associated Press

Ibrahima Konate closer to STAYING at Liverpool
Liverpool have got a contract problem to solve with . The Frenchman is out of contract in 2026 - and the club have so far had little success in tying him down to a new deal. Having seen the 26-year-old establish himself as Virgil van Dijk's preferred partner in their 2024/25 Premier League-winning season, the Reds will be gutted to lose him on a free next year. 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the away range TODAY LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! LFC x adidas Shop the goalkeeper range today LFC x adidas Shop the new adidas range today! That has led to speculation that we could see the France international on the move this summer instead - provided Liverpool's asking fee is met. Media reports have suggested that the club would settle for a deal for anything between £35m and £50m - although there are no guarantees that Richard Hughes would cash in. Madrid tell Alonso: No more signings One more season of Konate - regardless of his future intentions - may well be the most sensible option unless Marc Guehi can be brought on board during the current window. - with Los Blancos previously reported to be willing to buy Konate this summer. However it looks like Los Blancos' tune has changed. According to a new report in Defensa Central, president Florentino Perez and technical director Jose Angel Sanchez have informed coach Xabi Alonso that there will be NO more transfers this summer. Madrid bid for Konate ruled out It means a bid for Konate can be ruled out - taking one of the main suitors for Konate off the table. Liverpool went through practically all of last season with contract doubts over Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold. While Trent turned his back on his hometown club and joined Madrid, Liverpool convinced Salah and Van Dijk to remain at the club for two more years. Indeed at one stage it appeared Salah was more out than in but Arne Slot's title-winning team is evidence enough for the Egyptian King that Liverpool are going places. © IMAGO Can Liverpool convince Konate to stay? And so while it might right now seem that Konate is on his way to Real Madrid as a replacement for either Antonio Rudiger or David Alaba in 2026, a lot can happen between now and January. By that stage he will be available to talk to overseas clubs about a free transfer - and no doubt Madrid will be in the mix. But if Liverpool get off to a great start - reaffirming their status as the best club in the Premier League - then Konate could ultimately be persuaded to stay. The move this summer now appears off the table - and Liverpool have a second chance to convince their stopper that his future lies on Merseyside.
