Horse racing tips: ‘She has a progressive profile' – Templegate's big Sunday NAP runs at Haydock
TEMPLEGATE'S picks on Sunday are below.
Back a horse by clicking their odds.
LORNA B (5.45 Haydock, nap)
She has a progressive profile and has yet to taste defeat in handicaps this summer. What makes her stand out at this level is her battling qualities in a finish. The handicapper keeps putting more lead in the saddle and she keeps on finding that little bit extra. It's likely to be the same story today and she can land a deserved hat-tick under Dale Swift.
GRANDLAD (5.15 Haydock, nb)
He looks a tasty price given he was back to his best last time, is effective at 5f and looks well drawn to pull off his favourite front-running tactics. This is a tougher challenge than last time but he's a sprinter in form.
She won nicely at Lingfield last time and looks open to improvement for the Kublers. That was an apprentices' race so the handicapper has left her mark alone and she'll be dangerous on this step up to a mile.

Grant Forrest congratulated by Donald Trump after winning Nexo Championship
Grant Forrest eased to victory on home soil for the second time in his career with a four-shot success at the Nexo Championship – and then received a video call from United States president Donald Trump. Forrest's victory was at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen and, shortly after collecting his trophy, he was being congratulated by the owner and 47th president of the USA over FaceTime. 'I watched it… he's some player. I look forward to playing with him – in fact I will play with him tomorrow if he could get on a plane,' Trump said in the call, shared on X by the DP World Tour. 'What a round of golf. What three rounds of brilliant golf. It's a great honour you won, thank you very much.' Forrest, who lifted his maiden DP World Tour title at St Andrews four years and two days ago, took control of windy conditions over the weekend but saw his three-shot overnight advantage trimmed to two after Todd Clements' birdie on the opening hole. However, when Forrest birdied the fourth and Clements carded a triple-bogey eight at the same hole, the Scot led by five and never looked back. The world number 294, who double-bogeyed the last, added two more birdies and a dropped shot in a closing 72 to finish with an eight-under-par total. 'It's amazing, just speechless,' Forrest said. 'I think it is the same week as I won four years ago on the calendar so just amazing, that must say something about this week and being at home. 'I just can't believe it. It's been such a tough year on the golf course. It's just a crazy game that you can go and come out and do this, with what feels out of nowhere. 'It's just that old chestnut that one week can turn things around and it has.' Joe Dean nervelessly parred the last to claim solo second at four under, with John Parry one shot further behind alongside Norway's Kristoffer Reitan and Denmark's Jacob Skov Olesen. Jordan Smith finished sixth at two under, while Clements, Andy Sullivan and Finland's Oliver Lindell were a further shot adrift – the only nine players to finish the tournament under par.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot breaks silence on Crystal Palace fans SPOILING the minute's silence for Diogo Jota before the Community Shield
Arne Slot said he would give the benefit of the doubt to Crystal Palace fans heard disrupting the minute's silence for Diogo Jota in the Community Shield. A tribute at Sunday's game was planned to honour both Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva after they perished in a car accident on July 3. The 28-year-old forward had recently married his childhood sweetheart at a ceremony in his native Portugal following a campaign culminating in trophy-winning successes for both club and country. However, shortly after both teams lined up on the centre circle to observe a moment of respect for the late forward sounds could be heard from the Palace end at Wembley. The muttering of noise was then met with boos from the Liverpool fans before they decided to break out into applause, the minute's silence ultimately cut short. The incident came moments after Reds supporters chose to boo 'God Save the King'. Speaking after his side were defeated on penalties at the home of football, Slot insisted that he believed that the disruptions to the tribute to Jota were not intentional. 'I always try to be positive and what I think is that this person that maybe was noisy or loud didn't truly understand there was a minute of silence.' The Liverpool boss told beIN SPORTS. 'Because it happened quite a long time ago, I think we all know the minute of silence was there, and like you said, then a few tried to stop it, that leads to noise again. 'Then our fans are like, "hey, come on, what's happening over here?" 'So I think there has been so much understanding from every other team, and we should not see this as a form of disrespect from the fans of Palace. 'I think it was maybe the guys that made noise probably didn't know what was happening at that moment. The Premier League champions kick off their title defence on Friday at home to Andoni Iraola's Bournemouth. Another tribute to Jota is planned before the Premier League opener and Slot insisted he believes it will be well observed by those in attendance at Anfield. 'Palace have been outstanding here today, as well as our fans,' he continued. 'So we will see Friday when everybody knows the minute of silence is here again, the Bournemouth fans, and our fans will do the right thing. 'I think everyone tried to do [the right thing] today as well, except for the ones that didn't do it with a bad idea, in my opinion.'

Why Liverpool's Community Shield defeat could be bad omen for Arsenal and Premier League title rivals
LIVERPOOL'S Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace could be a blessing in disguise for them... and a bad omen for title rivals. The Reds are looking to defend their Premier League crown this season, but started the campaign with a penalty shootout defeat to Crystal Palace at Wembley. That's because winning the curtain-raiser has been a bad omen for teams eyeing the title. Only once since 2011/12 has a team that won the Community Shield gone on to win the Prem in the following season. Out of those 14 completed seasons up to now, the only team to buck the trend was Pep Guardiola's Man City in 2018/19, which followed victory in the Shield via a penalty shootout against Liverpool. Advertisement Arsenal have won the Shield five times since 2011, with City winning it four times, Manchester United winning it three times, and Leicester and Liverpool winning it once each. And while it is a nice trophy to add to the cabinet - even if arguments over whether it is a major trophy rumble on - it is typically not a good luck charm. The last time the curse of the Shield was lifted was when Sir Alex Ferguson's United beat Chelsea in 2010 before winning the 2010/11 season. Carlo Ancelotti's Blues had done the league and Shield double at the expense of the Red Devils in the 2009/10 season. Advertisement BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK And before that, United won two Shields at the start of the 2007/08 and 2008/09 campaigns before going on to win the top flight as part of their then-unmatched second three-peat. Arsenal, tipped as the closest challengers to the title once again, have been hunting their first elusive title since their treble-winning side of 2003/04. The six players Arsenal could sell to sign Eze | Transfers Exposed Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was still working as Guardiola's understudy when they did the Shield and Prem double, but he has not yet been able to translate what he learned into a title. Advertisement They have finished second in each of the last three league seasons under Arteta, twice finishing behind Man City before seeing Liverpool take the crown last year. The Gunners have splashed £208million on new signings this summer, including a new talisman in Viktor Gyokeres and midfield general Martin Zubimendi, as well as some pricey squad improvements. Liverpool, City and Chelsea have all spent big as well this summer, but the Emirates faithful will be hoping their settled squad – and hopefully a lack of Community Shield omens – will finally guide them to a 14th English title. That is, unless Oliver Glasner's Crystal Palace do the unthinkable following their first-ever Community Shield victory.
