New Delhi: Pakistani terrorists killed 26 innocent civilians in Pahalgam on April 22 and India hit back with Operation Sindoor. Indian Armed Forces, especially the Indian Air Force (IAF) played a crucial role in the military conflict that lasted for four days and India achieved big success against Pakistan. Now, the Indian Air Force is pondering about getting Israel's stealthy air-launched cruise missile 'Ice Breaker'.
In fact, some reports suggest that the IAF is evaluating the purchase and induction of the Ice Breaker in its fleet. During Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, the IAF used BrahMos missiles among others with a very high success rate. If India gets Ice Breaker, then it will further enhance its military might. Ice Breaker is a class apart for long-range precision strikes.
If India gets it then China and Pakistan will not dare fool around. What is Ice Breaker?
According to Rafael website, 'Ice Breaker is a long-range, autonomous, precision-guided weapon system enabling significant attack performance against a variety of high-value land and sea targets. The system – which is resilient to electronic countermeasures and fully operational in GNSS-denied arenas – uses an advanced, all-weather electro-optical IIR seeker with scene-matching and Automatic Target Recognition capabilities.
'It counters Integrated Air Defense Systems (IADS) with a low-level terrain following flight pattern above land, sea skimming above sea, VLO (Very Low Observable), and salvo attack capability. Compact and lightweight, Ice Breaker is suitable for jet fighters, light attack aircraft, and helicopters as well as small maritime vessels and ground vehicles.'
The Ice Breaker uses a highly advanced electro-optical seeker that can detect targets in all weather conditions and it is equipped with artificial intelligence that helps it recognize targets and ensures it only engages hostile ones, thus keeping a check on collateral damage.
The Ice Breaker flies at incredibly low level, almost touching the ground. Its design makes it very hard to detect. Thus it just zooms past even the most sophisticated air defenses.
The Ice Breaker is very compact and lightweight, under 400 kg and one of its features includes smart engagement as it can work in a synchronized attack with multiple missiles which boosts its ability to penetrate well-defended targets.

India opposes ADB's $800 million aid to Pakistan, flags misuse concerns

India has vehemently opposed the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) financial assistance of $800 million to Pakistan, raising concerns about the potential misuse of ADB resources, sources said. India abstained from voting on the package at a recent Board meeting of the ADB. Indian officials cautioned the ADB on Pakistan's rising defence expenditure, its declining tax-to-GDP ratio, and the lack of demonstrable progress on key macroeconomic reforms. The ADB on Tuesday approved an $800 million programme to strengthen fiscal sustainability and improve public financial management in Pakistan. 'Pakistan has made significant progress in improving macroeconomic conditions,' said ADB country director for Pakistan, Emma Fan. India, however, said that had the previous programmes, funded both by the ADB and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), succeeded in putting in place a sound macroeconomic policy environment, Pakistan would not have approached the IMF for the 24th bailout programme. India, sources said, highlighted that such a track record calls into question the effectiveness of programme design, monitoring, and implementation by the authorities. Tensions between India and Pakistan flared up following the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22, in which 26 civilians were killed, culminating in the launch of 'Operation Sindoor'. Highlighting that Pakistan's policy on cross-border terrorism has worsened the security situation in the region, India, sources said, flagged concerns about the country's 'highly unsatisfactory' progress in implementing the most critical Financial Action Task Force (FATF) action items. These relate to terrorist financing investigations, prosecution of leaders of UN-designated terrorist groups, and freezing and confiscation of criminal assets, India said. In May, India abstained from voting at the IMF meeting to review the $1 billion lending programme for Pakistan, raising concerns over the misuse of debt financing for state-sponsored cross-border terrorism. Sources said India expects the ADB to closely monitor implementation of the policy matrix to achieve the intended outcomes, since policy reforms in Pakistan have largely been driven by external support over the past several years, including from international financial institutions (IFIs) such as the ADB. Relying heavily on such support, India has said, undermines local ownership and creates a cycle of dependency. At the ADB Board meeting, India highlighted that while Pakistan's tax collection as a share of GDP declined from 13 per cent in FY18 to 9.2 per cent in FY23, there has been a significant increase in defence spending over the same period. 'This points to the possibility of diversion of funds made available to the country by external agencies, including IFIs, especially those that are made available by fungible debt financing through instruments such as policy-based loans, for increased defence spending,' India stressed, according to sources. India urged the ADB management to adequately ring-fence its financing to prevent any such misuse, sources said. India's representatives at the Board meeting also pointed to Pakistan's poor track record of implementation, stemming from the military's deeply entrenched interference in economic affairs. This, they said, poses risks of policy slippages and reform reversals, as witnessed in the past. India expressed strong reservations about Pakistan's existing governance system, which it said poses a continuing severe threat to regional peace and security. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met ADB president Masatsugu Asakawa and sought enhanced support for integrated rural prosperity initiatives, including job creation, last week. Asakawa met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 1, extending support to India's ambition of a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.

Katra residents look forward to PM Modi's visit; count benefits Vande Bharat trains will bring

Katra: Excitement is running high among the locals of Katra in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the world's highest railway arch bridge over the Chenab and flag off Vande Bharat trains between Katra and Srinagar on Friday. The historic event will mark the completion of a long-pending railway project aimed at linking Kashmir Valley with the rest of India — an ambitious initiative that began over four decades ago. IANS spoke to locals where they expressed hope and gratitude for the anticipated economic and social transformation the railway connectivity is expected to bring to the region. 'Finally, our dream of seeing a train in Katra will be fulfilled. It will boost tourism and employment. This connectivity will facilitate travel between Katra and Kashmir and enhance business opportunities. During the summer, airfare used to be very high. Now, with train access, people won't have to spend as much,' said one resident. Namita, another local, said, 'I am very happy that PM Modi will be flagging off the Vande Bharat trains. He has not only improved infrastructure but also supported us during tough times, like after the Pahalgam terror attack.' Ajit Singh, who runs a business in Katra, highlighted the preparations underway for the Prime Minister's visit. 'We are thrilled to welcome PM Modi. The Vande Bharat trains will definitely boost employment and make our daily lives easier,' he said. Another resident, Nikhil, shared similar sentiments. 'I want to thank PM Modi from the bottom of my heart. These trains will improve tourism, create jobs, and make travel more comfortable. It's a great moment for Katra," he told IANS. This visit will also be PM Modi's first to J&K following 'Operation Sindoor'—India's precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan carried out on May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists. The inauguration of the train service was scheduled for April 19 but was postponed due to adverse weather. Just three days later, the tragic Pahalgam attack occurred. PM Modi's visit follows Union Home Minister Amit Shah's recent two-day tour of the region, during which he reviewed security arrangements and visited Poonch to meet victims of cross-border shelling.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has said it will be ready to discuss all topics, including Operation Sindoor, when the session convenes. However, it denied Opposition a special session of Parliament to discuss the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor. On June 3, a 16-party delegation wrote letter to PM Modi seeking a special session on these matters. A miffed Congress has alleged that the Centre is running away from facing the tough questions on Operation Sindoor and India-Pakistan ceasefire deal.#monsoonsession2025 #operationsindoor #pahalgamattack #kirenrijiju #indopakceasefire #parliamentupdate #rahulgandhi #bjpcongressclash #specialsessiondemand #indianpolitics #toi #toibharat #bharat #breakingnews #indianews Read More
