
Tour bus skids, crashes on NSE, 36 Indian tourists, driver unharmed
IPOH: Thirty-six Indian nationals and a local driver escaped unhurt after the tour bus they were travelling in skidded and crashed at KM396.2 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) northbound near Muallim on Thursday (June 19) afternoon.
Muallim OCPD Supt Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir said the incident occurred at 3.39pm, and all victims, including the 41-year-old driver, escaped without any injuries.
According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the bus was en route from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh when it lost control and veered to the right side of the road.
"The bus then crashed into the central divider before ending up in a drain on the right side of the highway," he said when contacted Thursday.
He said the tour bus was carrying 32 men and four women, all Indian nationals, who were believed to be travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh.
"All passengers were transferred to a replacement bus to continue their journey to their respective destinations," he said.
Meanwhile, through a post on X, PLUS Malaysia Berhad reported that the crash site was cleared by 6.50pm, after which traffic returned to normal. - Bernama

Ahead of time, PLUS rolls out 112 EV charging points across its network
PETALING JAYA, Aug 18 — PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) today said that it has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure to 112 operational points across its highways, including the Lebuhraya Pantai Timur 2 (LPT2), surpassing its target of 100 charging points by the end of 2025. In a press statement, PLUS said the chargers are located at selected Rest and Service Areas (R&Rs), lay-bys and petrol stations to improve accessibility for EV users. 'These chargers offer output power ranging from 47 kW to 200 kW, enabling vehicles to reach up to 80 per cent charge within 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the vehicle's specifications and existing battery level,' said PLUS Chief Commercial Officer Mohd Fauzi Puniran. Total of 112 EV charging points now live on PLUS highway network
PETALING JAYA, Aug 18 — PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) continues to strengthen its commitment towards low-carbon mobility through the expansion of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across its highways, including the Lebuhraya Pantai Timur 2 (LPT2). As of 30 June 2025, a total of 112 EV charging points are now operational, surpassing PLUS' initial target of 100 charging points by the end of 2025. These EV charging points are strategically located at selected Rest and Service Areas (R&Rs), lay-bys, and within selected petrol station premises along the PLUS Highway to ensure greater accessibility for EV users. Supporting the national sustainability agenda According to PLUS Managing Director, Datuk Nik Airina Nik Jaffar, 'This initiative is aligned with the PLUS Green Roadmap 2.0 and contributes to the achievement of 1,000 fast charging points by 2025 under the Low Carbon Mobility Development Plan (2021–2030). To further promote low-carbon transportation, the EV charging points along PLUS highways are also equipped with solar panel roofing and Battery Energy Storage Systems (Bess). Progress and future developments 'PLUS is targeting the launch of the Malaysia's first Highway EV Hub at Seremban R&R (Southbound), spearheaded by Terra ChargEV, a joint venture between PLUS' subsidiary Terra PLUS Sdn Bhd and Green EV Charge.
