Ghost Becomes First Hard Rock Band to Top Albums Chart in Four Years

Yahoo12-05-2025
Ghost earns its first No. 1 album on the all-genre-inclusive Billboard 200 albums chart with 'Skeletá.' Their sixth studio album claims the biggest opening week, by either equivalent album units or traditional album sales, for any rock, hard rock or alternative album since AC/DC's 'Power Up' hit the apex with 117,000 equivalent album units in 2020.
Preceded by the single 'Satanized,' the 10-song 'Skeletá' launches to the top of the list with 86,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week, according to Luminate. It is the Swedish hard rock band's first full-length project since 2022's 'Impera,' which previously debuted at No. 2.

Vinyl purchases comprised nearly half of Ghost's units sold this year with the sale of over 44,000 copies. That's not just the largest sales week on vinyl for Ghost, but the biggest week for a hard rock album on vinyl in the modern era (since Luminate began tracking data in 1991). It's also the third-largest sales week on vinyl in the modern era for any rock album, following the debut weeks of Blink-182's 'One More Time… ' and Boygenius' 'The Record.'
Ghost will support their new record with a tour that will hit Europe and North America with performances in Antwerp, Berlin and Paris, in addition to New York, Las Vegas, Austin and Houston.
The remaining titles topping the Billboard 200 are SZA's 'SOS' at No. 2 slips to No. 2; Kendrick Lamar's 'GNX' at No. 3; Morgan Wallen's 'One Thing at a Time' at No. 4; Sabrina Carpenter's 'Short n' Sweet' at No. 5; PartyNextDoor and Drake's '$ome $exy $ongs 4 U' at No. 6 and Bad Bunny's 'Debí Tirar Más Fotos' at No. 7.
Shaboozey's 'Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going' also climbs to No. 8 with 35,000 equivalent album units earned (up 110%) after a deluxe reissue of the album was released on April 25. 'Where I've Been' originally debuted and peaked at No. 5 on the June 15, 2024-dated list.

Toby Keith Hits A Chart Milestone For The First Time More Than A Year Following His Passing

Toby Keith's 35 Biggest Hits reaches 208 weeks on the Billboard 200, making it the country legend's ... More first album to spend four full years on the chart. NORMAN, OK - JULY 06: Musician Toby Keith performs during the Oklahoma Twister Relief Concert to benefit United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on July 6, 2013 in Norman, Oklahoma. The late country superstar returned to multiple tallies with "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)," which surges in popularity around the Fourth of July every year. The track's patriotic comeback has become even more pronounced since his passing in early 2024, but that one frame isn't the only time of year when Keith's music reaches new milestones or enjoys a special amount of attention. Toby Keith's 35 Biggest Hits Reaches a Landmark Keith's 35 Biggest Hits is still present on a pair of Billboard rankings this week, though it descends on both after soaring previously, thanks largely to consumption of "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)." Last week, the country musician's compilation lived inside the top 10 on the Billboard 200. This frame, it dips from No. 9 to No. 59. The length of time that the hits-packed project has spent on the most competitive albums roster in America is what's notable at the moment, as 35 Biggest Hits reaches 208 weeks on the Billboard 200. The project is Keith's first to make it to four full years as one of the biggest albums or EPs in the United States. Toby Keith's Longest-Charting Album by a Wide Margin 35 Biggest Hits has ranked as Keith's longest-charting album in America for some time. Every frame it holds on the Billboard 200, it extends its lead within his catalog. Greatest Hits 2 lags behind by more than 100 weeks, though it remains his second longest-charting title, followed closely by Unleashed, which has spent exactly two years on the tally. Consumption of Toby Keith's Music Falls Luminate reports that in the past tracking period, consumption of 35 Biggest Hits dropped more than 44%. The compilation shifted 14,700 equivalent units in the most recent week, which is down nearly 22,000 units from the period prior. That sum is still enough to ensure the collection only slips just outside the top 10 on the Top Country Albums list, dipping from No. 4 to No. 11, while sliding backward 50 spaces on the Billboard 200.

Post Malone's Album Doubles Its Consumption And Climbs The Charts

Post Malone's The Diamond Collection climbs the Billboard 200 and multiple genre charts, while ... More Hollywood's Bleeding and Beerbongs & Bentleys fall away. INDIO, CALIFORNIA - APRIL 20: (FOR EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Singer Post Malone performs onstage during weekend 2, day 3 of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival April 20, 2025 in Indio, California. (Photo byfor Coachella) Last week, Post Malone occupied four spaces on the Billboard 200, the most important albums chart in the United States, which attempts to paint a clear picture of what Americans are listening to. This frame, the multi-genre superstar claims only half as many spots on the tally. While he loses ground in terms of quantity, one of his collections rockets upward, thanks not necessarily to a massive increase in streams or sales, but largely due to how Billboard compiles its rankings. Post Malone's Big Week on the Charts The Diamond Collection is having a big week on the charts in the U.S. The compilation, which gathers Malone's diamond-certified singles, along with a handful of fan favorites, reappears on both the Top Rap Albums and Top Streaming Albums charts. It lands at Nos. 4 and 21, respectively, while also soaring on two additional tallies. The singles-packed set jumps from No. 43 to No. 8 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums ranking and rockets from No. 152 to No. 28 on the Billboard 200. Hollywood's Bleeding and Beerbongs & Bentleys Disappear Just days ago, Malone's Hollywood's Bleeding and Beerbongs & Bentleys were also present on the Billboard 200, but now they're nowhere to be found. It appears that all the consumption of those titles — or, more appropriately, the songs featured on them — was funneled back toward The Diamond Collection. This occurs from time to time, resulting in one title (or several) falling off the tally while another gains considerable ground within a single frame. Billboard allows for streams and sales of individual tracks to be counted toward either the original albums or any compilations they appear on. Sometimes, all that activity benefits multiple projects. In other instances, just the full-length on which the tracks originally appeared sees a bump, while in cases like this week, a later compilation reaps the rewards. Since The Diamond Collection includes so many of Malone's biggest hits, it's not unusual to see it appear on the charts, surging one week, dipping precipitously the next, then rebounding once again, depending on a variety of factors. F-1 Trillion Holds On Again In addition to The Diamond Collection, Malone appears on three charts with F-1 Trillion, his first foray into country music. That set, which is nearing its one-year anniversary on the rankings, dips on both the Billboard 200 and Top Streaming Albums chart, falling to Nos. 33 and 28, respectively. It does, however, rise slightly to No. 5 on the Top Country Albums roster. The Diamond Collection Jumps More Than 100% Luminate reports that during the latest tracking frame, The Diamond Collection shifted 19,600 equivalent units. That figure is up more than 103% from the prior period, when it moved just 9,600 units. The compilation sold fewer than 150 copies, so streaming activity and the reassignment of plays from other Malone collections largely helps push it significantly higher.

Benson Boone Joins Dua Lipa In A Historic Feat

Benson Boone's 'Beautiful Things' ties Dua Lipa's 'Levitating' with 77 weeks on the Hot 100, as ... More Teddy Swims' 'Lose Control' becomes the first track to hit 100 weeks. (Photo by Nina Westervelt/Billboard via Getty Images) A month into its run on the Billboard charts, Benson Boone's sophomore album American Heart continues its gentle descent. In its fourth frame on the Billboard 200, the project slides from No. 21 to No. 27. Two singles from the full-length — 'Mystical Magical' and 'Sorry, I'm Here for Someone Else' — also experience modest dips on the Hot 100, though both remain inside the top 40. Boone's biggest hit at the moment, is, as has been the case for months, 'Beautiful Things.' The track that turned the singer into a superstar in early 2024 continues to make history with every frame it holds on. 'Beautiful Things' Ties Dua Lipa's 'Levitating' 'Beautiful Things' has now lived on the Hot 100 for 77 frames. In just one more week, it will become one of only a handful of songs to spend a year and a half on Billboard's ranking of the most popular tracks in the United States. 'Beautiful Things' is now tied with 'Levitating' by Dua Lipa as the third-longest-charting track by a solo musician in American history. Lipa's catchy pop cut spent about half of its time on the tally as a solo effort, while the rest of its weeks included rapper DaBaby. His credit was later removed after fans and radio stations changed their favor to the solo version. Teddy Swims Sets a New Record With 'Lose Control' 'Lose Control' by Teddy Swims still stands the longest-running hit of all time, and this week marks a particularly special milestone for the soulful cut. The Grammy nominee's breakout hit becomes the first song ever to reach 100 weeks on the Hot 100. That figure puts the track well ahead of every other tune, and it's likely to continue building on that total. The Weeknd's 'Blinding Lights' tallied 90 stays on the roster, placing it in second among all compositions by solo artists. Benson Boone Passes Jason Mraz Last frame, Boone matched Jason Mraz, whose single 'I'm Yours' spent 76 weeks on the Hot 100 between 2008 and 2009. That tune now ranks as the fifth-longest-charting track by a solo act in U.S. history, just behind Boone and Lipa. Several other songs credited to groups have also managed slightly longer stays on the Hot 100 compared to 'Beautiful Things.' 'Heat Waves' by Glass Animals, 'Radioactive' by Imagine Dragons, and 'Sail' by Awolnation held on for 91, 87, and 79 weeks, respectively. In the coming weeks, Boone could match and then pass Awolnation, though he still has a long journey ahead if he hopes to best the runs managed by Imagine Dragons or The Weeknd.
