Mboko sets up Osaka final after stunning comeback
Khachanov stuns Zverev
In the men's tournament in Toronto, three-time Grand Slam runner-up Alexander Zverev suffered a shock defeat by Russian 11th seed Karen Khachanov. The 29-year-old saved a match point before going on to complete a 6-3 4-6 7-6 (7-4) win against the German."I had to dig deep and lift my level. It was a very demanding, very mental, very physical match," said Khachanov."Today was a real close one. I was match point down, if the ball touches the net and drops over we wouldn't be talking now."Khachanov will face America's Ben Shelton in the final after he overcame compatriot and second seed Taylor Fritz in straight sets with a 6-4 6-3 victory.

Sabalenka edges Raducanu at Cincinnati Open, Sinner passes Diallo test
Aug 11 (Reuters) - World number one Aryna Sabalenka kept her Cincinnati Open title defence alive by claiming a 7-6(3) 4-6 7-6(5) victory over Emma Raducanu in a marathon third-round clash on Monday, while men's top seed Jannik Sinner overcame Canadian Gabriel Diallo. Fresh off their third-round clash at Wimbledon last month, Sabalenka and Raducanu produced another epic contest, featuring a 13-deuce game in the third set, before the 27-year-old Belarusian sealed victory in three hours and nine minutes. Sabalenka relied on her trademark powerful serve to hold firm in the key moments, winning two tiebreaks to take her tally to 18 for the season, the most by any women's singles player in the professional era. Despite the defeat, Raducanu seems to be finding her best form just in time for this month's U.S. Open at Flushing Meadows, where she triumphed in 2021. The 22-year-old Briton outscored Sabalenka in total points won, 125-123. "I'm really happy to see her healthy. I can see she's improving," Sabalenka said of Raducanu. "Happy to get through this match. I really hope tomorrow I have a day off." Sabalenka next faces Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in the last 16. Men's defending champion Sinner reached the last 16 with a 6-2 7-6(6) victory over Diallo, stretching his winning streak on hardcourts to 23 matches. The 23-year-old four-times Grand Slam, whose clash with Diallo was delayed by a fire alarm before the players continued through the noise, next faces the winner of Tommy Paul and Adrian Mannarino. "I feel like today was a very difficult day at the office," Sinner said. "He was serving very well, especially in the second set. Against big servers you always have to find the right balance at the back of the court. "Today I struggled a bit at times. But still very happy. I need these tough matches ... Getting used to very difficult situations. I'm very happy this happened before a Grand Slam. "I'm happy about today. Can I do things better? Yes. But not every day is the same. So I'm very, very happy." Earlier, fourth seed Taylor Fritz defeated Italian Lorenzo Sonego 7-6(4) 7-5 after a one-hour delay was caused by a power outage. The 27-year-old American did not face a break point and capitalised on his lone break opportunity before serving out the match, sealing the win in two hours and eight minutes. Former champion Madison Keys booked her place in the last 16 with a 6-4 6-0 win over Japan's Aoi Ito, edging a tight first set before storming through the second in just 20 minutes. "In the first set, I got off to a pretty good lead and then kind of lost my way a bit," sixth seed Keys said. "Once I got a break early in the second I wanted to run away with it and keep that momentum and I did." Anna Kalinskaya stunned American fifth seed and Wimbledon runner-up Amanda Anisimova 7-5 6-4 for her third win against a Top 10 opponent in the season. Kalinskaya will face fellow Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova in the next round.

Diamondbacks DFA veteran reliever Kendall Graveman
August 12 - The Arizona Diamondbacks designated 10-year major league veteran reliever Kendall Graveman for assignment on Monday and recalled pitcher Juan Morillo in a corresponding move. Graveman, 34, signed with Arizona in spring training after missing all of the 2024 campaign, recovering from right shoulder labrum surgery. He started the season on the injured list (strained right lumbar), debuted with the team on May 13 and also missed time in June due to a hip injury. Graveman made 19 appearances with the Diamondbacks, winning his lone decision, but pitching to an ERA of 7.13 in 17 2/3 innings of work. He did not allow an earned run in six consecutive appearances (July 13-Aug. 3), but permitted two runs, while recording one out vs. San Diego on August 5 and gave up three runs in one inning on August 10 vs. Colorado. "Kendall was grinding through things," Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said. "He was having some really good moments, some touch-and-go moments outside of that and we just felt like it was the right time to make a move to get Juan back up here." Graveman debuted with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2014, then spent four seasons in Oakland (2015-18), before spending time with the Seattle Mariners (2020-21), Houston Astros (2021, 2023) and the Chicago White Sox (2022-23). He was a member of two Astros' division-winning squads and appeared in nine games in the 2021 playoffs. The right-hander was 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA in 11 innings of work for the squad which fell to Tampa Bay in the American League Championship Series. Graveman, who intends to keep pitching, signed for $1.35 million with a $5 million mutual option in 2026. He is 36-43 with a 4.03 ERA in 299 career appearances (80 starts). Morillo, 26, posted an 0-2 record and a 4.94 ERA in 31 outings for the Diamondbacks earlier this season. He was recalled from Triple-A Reno. --Field Level Media

Wild moment golfer misses tap-in putt for his first ever eagle... after being told: 'Don't choke!'
An amateur golfer has gone viral after missing a tap-in for his first ever eagle - just moments after being warned not to 'choke'. Over the weekend, the best players on the planet battled it out for a $20million purse at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis. But elsewhere on Sunday, a video on social media showcased the other side of golf. In the clip, a man is seen walking across the green to find his ball barely a foot from the hole. 'I'm low key sweating,' he says to the woman holding the camera. 'Don't choke!' she replies. 'Don't look!' The man then reveals that he is putting for his first ever eagle. But he somehow leaves the ball short of the cup, prompting the camerawoman to scream and laugh. To make matters worse, the man appears to be carrying a LAB broomstick putter, which retail for around $600. ⛳️🦅 First ever eagle putt and this happens… 🫨 — NUCLR GOLF (@NUCLRGOLF) August 10, 2025 He wasn't the only player to face allegations of choking on Sunday after Tommy Fleetwood's brutal wait for a first PGA Tour title went on. The Englishman has not won in 162 starts on the PGA Tour and at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, he added a sixth third-place finish to the six he has collected as a runner up. Fleetwood was two shots clear with three holes to play but slid down into a tie for third, with Justin Rose eventually beating America's J.J. Spaun in a playoff. It was Rose's first win in more than two years, with that barren run including runner-up finishes at the 2024 Open Championship and the Masters in April.
