Jake Fraser-McGurk is back in Aussie colours
After making his mark with a string of pulverising displays at the Indian Premier League in 2024, Jake Fraser-McGurk has found more famine than feast in his recent tournaments.
He's been in and out of the Australian side and initially missed selection for this tour. However and injury to left-arm paceman Spencer Johnson opened up a spot in the squad, and overnight it emerged that first choice opener Matt Short had also headed home with a side strain.
That means Fraser-McGurk will open with Marsh in Jamaica, while debutant Mitch Owen takes an uncustomary role in the middle order.
Travis Head, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood have been rested from the series.

Big decisions coming for world cricket
Overnight, the International Cricket Council Annual conference wrapped up in Singapore, and there were plenty of major moves in terms of the future of the game.
A men's Twenty20 Champions League will be relaunched as soon as September next year, after the tournament was backed by key member countries at the International Cricket Council's annual conference in Singapore.
Test cricket's future and a possible split into two divisions may also be decided by the end of the year, after the ICC formalised a working group to reshape the game's calendar from 2027 onwards, according to two sources with knowledge of confidential discussions.
There is now a distinct possibility that the number of Test playing countries may be capped, on the basis that only a few currently make money from the game's oldest format and that many nations do not have the resources to support the systems required for developing competitive Test teams.
Cricket Australia chief executive Todd Greenberg and Richard Gould, CEO of the England and Wales Cricket Board, will be among the eight members of the calendar working group, alongside the ICC's new chief executive Sanjog Gupta.
It will be expected to present interim findings and recommendations to the ICC board, chaired by india's Jay Shah, before the end of this year.

Hello and welcome to our coverage of the first T20 between Australia and the West Indies in Jamaica.
This is the first game of a five-match series, part of Australia's run to the T20 World Cup to be played in India next year.
Australia have never beaten West Indies in a T20 series in the Caribbean, and were thrashed 4-1 when they last contested one in these parts of the world in 2021.
That tour, which was followed by another beating in Bangladesh, was a catalyst for then coach Justin Langer to adjust his methods and allow the players to control more of their own space. A surprise victory at the 2021 T20 World Cup soon followed in the UAE.

A social media threat to Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin will go unpunished after an AFL investigation
Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin opted against the AFL taking any further action after the league's Integrity Unit investigated an online threat made in the wake of the Demons last quarter capitulation against St Kilda on Sunday. Two goals in the final 60 seconds to Saint Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, including one after the siren, sealed the biggest three-quarter-time comeback in AFL history and consigned the Demons to a famous defeat. As he was conducting his post-match press conference, a post from an anonymous account on X included an image of a ute in a car park and a chilling caption. 'I'm currently waiting outside Simon Goodwin's car: Don't fret, Melbourne fans you won't need to worry any further,' the post read. It came after a Collingwood member was banned from the AFL, and MCG, for five years after posting a message on the ground's anti-social behaviour hotline about Carlton coach Michael Voss. Melbourne made the AFL Integrity Unit aware of the post but confirmed on Monday there would be no further action, confirming the car in the photo did not belong to Goodwin and it wasn't taken in the Marvel Stadium car park. 'The AFL Integrity Unit has investigated the reported tweet regarding Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin post-game,' the league said in a statement. 'The image posted was not Goodwin's car, nor was it from Marvel Stadium. 'Goodwin has been consulted and does not wish to take the matter further, and there is currently no further action from Victoria Police. 'The AFL is currently working with the platform 'X' to help identify the owner of the account.' Melbourne captain Max Gawn defended Goodwin, who is now in the spotlight after the loss, and said the players were to blame to the chaotic finish. He also said Goodwin, the 2021 premiership winning coach who is contracted for another season, had hit support. 'He's my favourite coach and he's a premiership coach, Gawn said. 'I find him extremely smart tactically and, in the end, he's had us 50-points up against St Kilda, a team that we were down by 50 [points] in Alice Springs. He's in it with us, but the last quarter is not solely on him,' Gawn said.

NBA champion Alex Ducas returning to Australia
Australian NBA champion Alex Ducas has signed a one-year deal with the Brisbane Bullets in a major coup for their NBL rebuild. Part of Oklahoma City's 2024/25 championship-winning roster, 24-year-old Ducas had been linked with the Bullets for weeks before his arrival was confirmed Monday. A 201cm tall swingman originally from Geraldton, Ducas brings size and accuracy from deep to a Bullets side hoping to snap a six-year play-offs drought under new coach Stu Lash. "I'm pumped to be coming back to Australia and putting on a Bullets jersey," Ducas said. "Winning a title with OKC was unbelievable, but I'm ready to bring that energy and mindset to Brisbane." Ducas went undrafted in 2024 but signed a two-way contract at OKC to split his time between the Thunder's NBA side and their G-League affiliate. He played 21 games in his NBA rookie season but did not feature in the play-offs as the Thunder broke through for their first championship since 1979, when they were still based in Seattle as the Supersonics. Ducas nevertheless received a championship ring for his role in the squad, becoming just the ninth Australian-born player to taste NBA glory. Prior to his professional career, Ducas played college basketball at Saint Mary's, the alma mater of fellow Australian NBA players Patty Mills, Jock Landale and Matthew Dellavedova, winning the NCAA's West Coast Conference championship in 2024.
