Tornado warning in effect near Claresholm and Stavely as storms move in to Calgary
A severe thunderstorm watch was issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) for Calgary Thursday evening that included the possibility of a tornado forming south of the city. "Thunderstorms have developed over the foothills,' ECCC posted on its website at 6:15 p.m. 'A few of these thunderstorms may become severe this evening producing large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall. 'There is also the risk of a tornado south of Calgary,' it said. The area under tornado warning is the M.D. of Willow Creek near Claresholm and Stavely, according to the province.
