Does Virat Kohli have a home in the United States? Here's what we know about his lavish properties

Mint2 days ago

Virat Kohli will be seen in action during the IPL 2025 final, when the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Punjab Kings clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 3. Kohli will be one of the star attractions of the game, as his team is yet to win an IPL title in all these years, and RCB fans would be hoping for one match-winning performance from him today. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings, led by Shreyas Iyer, have also not won an IPL title yet, and will be gunning for gold this time around.
Meanwhile, as the IPL excitement unfolds, let's have a look at the lavish properties owned by Virat Kohli. As of now, he does not have a home in the United States, but has been to the US often, and was mainly seen there during the T20 World Cup 2024, when Team India was playing there.
However, even though he reportedly does not have a home in the United States yet, he has not forgotten to give his luxurious home in India's Alibaug, a touch of the US. In a previous interview with Architectural Digest, Kohli mentioned that his villa has been designed in a 'Californian Konkan' style. The villa has four bedrooms, with the high ceilings and natural hardwood being the main attractions. Exotic Italian marbles, raw travertines, and Turkish limestones are some of the architectural materials used that give Virat's home a lavish look. The villa also boasts a rare Balinese sukabumi stone-clad temperature-controlled pool, coupled with a jacuzzi, according to Architectural Digest.
Some of his other properties include a sea-facing apartment in Mumbai's Worli, which was purchased back in 2016 for a whopping $39,71,521 (Today's exchange rate). Then comes his business venture, One8 Commune's outlets across India, spread throughout major Indian cities like Pune, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai.

Karnataka govt to formulate new SOP for mega events, celebrations

Bengaluru, Karnataka government will formulate a new Standard Operating Procedure for mega events, meetings and celebrations aimed at preventing any untoward incidents, state Home Minister G Parameshwara said on Thursday. The initiative comes in the wake of stampede near the Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium here on Wednesday that claimed 11 lives. Speaking to reporters, Parameshwara said that the government will take strict measures identifying the lapses that led to the stampede near the stadium, where a large number of people had thronged to participate in the RCB team's IPL victory celebrations. Eleven people have died and 56 have been injured in the incident, he said, among the injured, 46 have gone back home after the treatment, while 10 are at hospital and their condition is not serious according to doctors. "Aimed at preventing such incidents, the government, the home department will formulate a new Standard Operating Procedure . We will give instructions that from now on any mega events, meetings and celebrations, should be held within the framework of the directions issued by the police department," Parameshwara said. A new SOP will be formulated to ensure that such incidents never happen in the future, he added. "Such deaths shouldn't happen, innocents should not die, looking at the dead bodies it pains of them were youngsters in 20-25 years of age. They came happily to celebrate, they wouldn't have expected to lose their lives. We will take strict measures identifying the lapses," he added. Parameshwara said, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had held a meeting yesterday and has ordered for a megestrial inquiry into the incident under the leadership of Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner. "If any lapses are found, strict action will be taken against whoever is responsible," he said, adding that he didn't want to go into details, because an inquiry has been ordered.

Ponting reacts to Virat Kohli breaking down in tears during last over: 'CSK, MI have won IPL a few times. It's not easy'

Ricky Ponting, head coach of Punjab Kings and one of the most respected voices in world cricket, offered a moving perspective on Virat Kohli's emotional reaction following Royal Challengers Bengaluru's long-awaited IPL title win. The legendary Australian said Kohli's tears were a testament to the emotional and personal toll of chasing the elusive trophy for 18 seasons, and how much it means to players. Kohli, overwhelmed by emotion as RCB sealed a six-run win over Punjab Kings in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday, dropped to his knees in tears. The image captured the end of a wait that spanned the entire history of the IPL; Kohli is the only player to have represented only one franchise since the first season of the tournament in 2008. "You can see in his eyes in that last over, he was shedding a tear, that's what it means to players, that's what it means to everyone," Ponting told reporters after the final. 'Chennai (Super Kings) have won it a few times, Mumbai (Indians) have won it a few times, but it's not an easy tournament to win — it is as simple as that — and you have to think long and hard about that. It's not easy to win this thing.' Ponting, who has played and won ICC World Cups and led dominant Australian teams across formats, used his own career to back Kohli's honest admission that IPL glory still doesn't match up to the pride of representing one's country in Test cricket. Kohli stated in his post-match reaction that despite the IPL victory being one of the top-most moments of his career, it stands 'five marks below Test cricket.' Ponting echoed Kohli's reverence for the red-ball game. "I'm probably one of the biggest purists of the game still involved. Whether I'm coaching or commentating, my first love is Test match cricket, always will be." 'But I totally understand what he means... this is as close as I can get to playing a Test match again.'

Yograj Singh reacts to Punjab Kings' defeat in IPL final against RCB

Punjab Kings during the IPL final in Ahmedabad. (ANI Photo) NEW DELHI: Former India cricketer Yograj Singh launched a scathing attack on Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer for his reckless dismissal in the IPL 2025 final, terming it a 'criminal offence' that proved costly in the team's narrow six-run defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! In a high-voltage final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, RCB lifted their maiden IPL trophy after 18 seasons. However, Iyer's early exit — caught behind for just 1 off 2 balls while attempting an ill-judged shot off Romario Shepherd — emerged as the turning point in Punjab's failed chase of 191. Who's that IPL player? Speaking to ANI, Yograj Singh didn't mince words. 'The shot which Shreyas Iyer played in the final was a criminal offence, according to me. Ashok Mankad told me about this criminal offence, which comes under Section 302. He also told me that the repercussions of this is that you will be banned for two matches. What Shreyas did yesterday is not acceptable. There is no apology for that.' 'Daring, Dynamic, Different': Ponting hails PBKS young guns despite final loss Batting first, RCB posted 190/9, with contributions from Virat Kohli (43), Rajat Patidar (26), and Jitesh Sharma (24). PBKS responded strongly with Shashank Singh's unbeaten 61 and Josh Inglis' quickfire 39, but a disciplined bowling effort from Krunal Pandya (2/17) and others held them back at 184/7. Despite Shashank's 22-run blitz in the final over, PBKS fell just short, with Iyer's early departure drawing heavy scrutiny as RCB celebrated long-awaited glory.
