Cook replaces the Baltimore Ravens' Derrick Henry while McGovern replaces the Kansas City Chiefs' Creed Humphry.
The two will join teammate Dion Dawkins, who was selected to his fourth Pro Bowl. Josh Allen opted not to participate in this year's games, as did Baltimore Ravens' Lamar Jackson. Russell Wilson and Drake Maye replaced them.
For the Bills, Cook had a breakout year. He tied a franchise record of 16 rushing touchdowns in a season. Even though his usage was down from last year, he accumulated over 1,250 all-purpose yards and 18 total touchdowns. He was a reliable option in the Bills backfield all season.
McGovern also proved reliable this season filling the shoes of former Bills center and team captain Mitch Morse. The Bills offensive line was one of the best in the NFL and allowed the least amount of sacks in the league.
You can catch Cook, McGovern, and Dawkins in the 2025 Pro Bowl at 3 p.m. EST on Sunday, February 2 on ESPN/ABC.

Former NFL LB Vontaze Burfict hired by UNLV football as defensive analyst

It appears former NFL linebacker Vontaze Burfict has joined first-year coach Dan Mullen's staff at UNLV. Burfict is listed as a defensive analyst for the Rebels, which is his first coaching job since retiring from playing after the 2019 season. UNLV's interim defensive coordinator is Paul Guenther, who was once Burfict's linebackers coach and defensive coordinator during a shared tenure with the Cincinnati Bengals. REQUIRED READING: Former Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict says he only hit late against Steelers Guenther was also the defensive coordinator for the Raiders in 2019, which was Burfict's last NFL season. Burfict's hire is an interesting one, considering his profile from his playing career. The former undrafted signee was suspended 22 total games in his NFL career from 14 separate incidents, being fined a total of $5.3 million over eight seasons, according to The majority of his infractions came on player safety rules. Burfict received the longest on-field suspension in NFL history with the Raiders in 2019, missing 12 games after being called for a personal foul on former Colts tight end Jack Doyle. Burfict led with his helmet after Doyle was already on the ground. Burfict also infamously blindsided then-Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown over the middle of the field in the 2015 wild card round, putting the Steelers in field goal range and allowing them to kick a game-winning field goal. Brown was knocked unconscious on the hit. Burfict was suspended for three games to start the 2016 season for repeated violations of player safety rules. Burfict no doubt is one of the most talented linebackers in recent memory, however, as he was a five-star recruit tabbed as the No. 11 player nationally in the 2009 recruiting class, per 247Sports. He was expected to be a first-round pick after starring at Arizona State, although fell to undrafted after a disappointing NFL combine showing and character concerns. Burfict finished his NFL career with 77 starts in 79 games, record a career-high and NFL-high 171 total tackles in 2013. Burfict was a second-team All-Pro in 2013, and was also selected to his lone Pro Bowl that season. Burfict has been out of football since 2019, but Mullen and UNLV see something in the former linebacker.

Rashawn Slater injury could have ripple effects across Chargers, AFC

Yahoo Sports' Jason Fitz reacts to the Chargers offensive lineman's torn patellar tendon suffered in Thursday's practice and how it will impact the outlook for Los Angeles and the rest of the conference this season. View more Video Transcript We have a staggering injury of massive consequence for the Los Angeles Chargers. Rashawn Slater is out for the season at this point with a torn patellar tendon that, uh, he suffered in practice on Thursday. As you see there on the screen, he just signed a 4-year, $113 million contract extension. That is massive money for a player that was worth absolutely every penny. And now you have to talk about the trickle-down effect that this has to the rest of not just the Chargers, but the entire AFC. The Chargers are expected to take a leap forward this year and be a team that can compete for a Super Bowl. They are expected, especially because they were ahead of schedule last year in Harbaugh's offense, to be able to come in and be that sort of team that can challenge the Chiefs, which means by default that they're also challenging the Ravens and the Bills. That puts them in that conversation. Without Slater, I'm not sure it does. This is a team that we know wants to run the football and they want to run the football often. And it's a team that has to figure out how to protect the best. That they have on offense, which is a quarterback that we're still waiting to have his superstar, massive breakthrough moment the way we think they can. I still believe that the Chargers are an incredibly well-coached team. And look, this is part of what the identity of the Chargers has been for a decade. Key injuries to superstar players, for whatever reason, seem to be the beast that haunts this franchise. I don't know how you fix that, but importantly for this season, in a year where there were expectations that maybe they could even try and compete with the Chiefs for the AFC West. I don't know how you do that when we say all the time, there are not 32 great left tackles in this league. There are not 32 great guards in this league. Go up and down. The trickle-down effect to this entire offensive line, the way they're going to have to rework the line and what they're going to have to do now to make the most without Rashawn Slater is just enough to make a difference that I lose some of my confidence in the Chargers' ability to compete for a Super Bowl. 3 observations from the final day of Buffalo Bills training camp

Buffalo Bills 2025 NFL training camp has wrapped up. The team will head back to Orchard Park to take on the preseason. In terms of Day 12 of training camp, what stood out the most? Here are three observations from the 12th day of Bills training camp: Cook's finale It was a weird one for the James Cook saga as training camp concluded. Prior to practice, head coach Sean McDermott indicated that Cook was expected to practice... then he did not. It's unclear what happened with the Pro Bowl running back. The story is certainly a heavily monitored one now. Starters plan The plan for the Bills' starters was also revealed ahead of the team's preseason opener against the New York Giants on Saturday. Quarterback Josh Allen will not play... but other starters will get in about a quarter's worth of work. Kicker likely coming McDermott also indicated a kicker addition is likely to come before Saturday. Tyler Bass (pelvic) has missed eight-straight workouts and won't go against the Giants. McDermott said two kickers worked out with the Bills on Thursday, but did not indicate who... but someone needs to kick in the game.
