Alligator from ‘Happy Gilmore' dead, but will continue to scare children for ‘years to come'
From the stuff of Hollywood legend to stuffed and mounted.
Morris the alligator, famous for his villainous role in Adam Sandler's classic film 'Happy Gilmore,' died of 'old age' last week and will now be taxidermied so he can 'scare children for years to come,' according to the Colorado Gator Farm.

The death of the 9-foot long, 640-pound reptile, estimated to be between 80 and 90 years old, was announced by forlorn farm operator Jay Young in a video posted to Facebook in which he caressed the deceased Morris' head.
'He started acting strange a week ago. He wasn't lunging at us and wasn't taking food,' Young said, adding, 'I know it's strange to people… that we get so attached to an alligator.'
'It's the worst part of what we do, losing animals,' Young said, holding back tears. 'He had a happy time here, and he died of old age.'
3 Morris' behavior in recent weeks started worrying workers at the Colorado Gator Farm.

Morris retired to the farm in 2006 after a storied career in film and television that included roles in 'Dr. Doolittle 2,' 'Interview with the Vampire,' 'Blues Brothers 2000,' 'Eraser,' and of course 'Happy Gilmore.'
He appeared with legendary crocodile hunter Steve Irwin on the 'Tonight Show with Jay Leno,' CBS reported.
Young revealed that the gator farm will taxidermy Morris and put him on display for visitors in an effort to preserve his memory.
'We have decided to get Morris taxidermied so that he can continue to scare children for years to come. It's what he would have wanted,' Young wrote in a post on Instagram on Monday.

Ironically, Morris' character in 'Happy Gilmore' was also taxidermized after the titular character hunted him down as revenge for biting off the hand of his golf legend and mentor friend Chubbs.
Colorado Gator Farm is located in San Luis Valley, Co., displays dozens of reptiles, and is open to the public.

Ethan Hawke Returns In First Trailer For 'Black Phone 2'
The 2021 horror movie The Black Phone became a surprise horror hit for Blumhouse based on the short story of the same name by author Joe Hill. Because the film was such a hit, earning $161.4 million on a budget between $16-18 million, a sequel was greenlit several years later. Now the full trailer for the follow-up – titled Black Phone 2 – has been released by Universal. Interestingly, the new sequel revolves around the characters from the first film, with the roles having been aged up to reflect the increased age of the actors. Ethan Hawke also returns to play The Grabber, the brutal antagonist of the first film, which this trailer depicts in a more Freddy Krueger style fashion. Here's the official trailer for Black Phone 2 : This trailer for Black Phone 2 puts an emphasis on the tense atmosphere that the film will feature, with an emphasis on its snowy winter setting, something which is a change from the original. Likewise, the footage is grainy and dark, with the signature use of filmic imagery that is enough to make viewers' blood run as cold as the wintery shots depicted. The cast for Black Phone 2 , as the trailer features, includes returning cast members Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies and Miguel Mora. For Hawke's character, given his fate in the preceding flick, it looks like his role as The Grabber has expanded into a more supernatural threat. Scott Derrickson returned to direct the follow-up for Blumhouse and Universal which was once again written by C. Robert Cargill and Derrickson. The two seem to have cracked a great idea that made producing a sequel a worthwhile endeavor. Black Phone 2 is scheduled to hit theaters later this year on October 17, 2025. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding this highly-anticipated sequel to the horror hit The Black Phone as we have them.

TV Ratings: ‘Squid Game' Rules, But Broadcast Series Make Strong Showing in Multiplatform Rankings
With streaming now the platform of choice for the largest share of TV viewers in the U.S., it would seem logical that a streaming show would top the ratings rather than a traditional network show. As it turns out, that's correct: Netflix's Squid Game is, by a sizable margin, the most-watched series of the 2024-25 season. But in Nielsen's multiplatform ratings, which measure viewing over five weeks and across all outlets, a number of broadcast series are still commanding large audiences. More from The Hollywood Reporter 'Squid Game' Final Season Trailer Restarts the Games After Failed Rebellion Streaming Ratings: 'White Lotus' Hits No. 1 Ahead of Season 3 Finale Streaming Is Now Just As Crowded With Ads As Old School TV Of the top 20 shows through March 15 (the most recent date for which the 35-day ratings are complete), eight originate on broadcast networks — six from CBS and two from ABC. All of them average at least 11.5 million viewers per episode across their network showings and streaming over five weeks. CBS' Tracker is the top network show and fourth overall with 17.6 million viewers via CBS and Paramount+. Squid Game, whose second season premiered in late December, racked up 27.1 million viewers in the 35-day window. Netflix's Adolescence (19 million) and Prime Video's Reacher (18.1 million) rank second and third, and two other network series, first-year breakouts Matlock (CBS) and High Potential (ABC), are tied for fifth overall at 16.1 million viewers. This season is the first in which Nielsen has released multiplatform data showing how outlets compare. In the broadcast landscape alone, CBS leads the pack (as it does in linear ratings) with 9.1 million viewers in primetime. NBC is second at 7.2 million viewers, followed by ABC (6.9 million) and Fox (4.3 million). ABC has the biggest gain from Nielsen's linear ratings (which are measured over seven days), rising by 61 percent with streaming and the longer window. CBS improves by 59 percent with the longer multiplatform measure, while NBC grows by 41 percent and Fox, whose shows stream on Hulu but which doesn't have its own platform, adds 12 percent. The top 20 shows (including ties) for all platforms and just on broadcast in Nielsen's 35-day multiplatform ratings are below. Sports and specials are excluded. Adam Sandler Swings Away in Full ‘Happy Gilmore 2' Trailer — With One Classic Throwback Line
Adam Sandler is putting a new spin on his beloved titular golfer in the full trailer for the Netflix sequel movie Happy Gilmore 2. During Saturday's fan event Tudum at the Kia Forum in the Los Angeles area, Netflix debuted the trailer for director Kyle Newacheck's new comedy that is set to begin streaming July 25. Sandler reprises his starring role as the long-driving phenom that he originated in Universal's 1996 film Happy Gilmore. More from The Hollywood Reporter Julie Bowen Thought She'd Be Replaced By Sydney Sweeney in 'Happy Gilmore 2' 'Squid Game' Star Lee Jung-jae Is Happy With How Series Ends But Is "Very Nervous" For Fan Reaction Netflix's 'Wednesday' Releases First Six Minutes of Season 2, Officially Confirms Lady Gaga Guest Role The trailer ends with a kicker that calls back to the most famous exchange in the original movie, and one of the most famous Sandler lines in general. (You will have to watch to find out.) Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen and Ben Stiller are among the performers returning from the original feature, while new cast additions include Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley, Benny Safdie, Travis Kelce and Kym Whitley. Also set to appear are Eminem and such pro golfers as Jack Nicklaus, John Daly and Jordan Spieth. 'I haven't swung a club in years,' Sandler's character laments in footage that was previously released and shows Happy getting back in the swing of things. 'I'm a little intimidated. All these guys hit it big now.' The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported that Dennis Dugan — who directed the original Happy Gilmore and executive produces the sequel — is reprising his onscreen part as pro golf tour commissioner Doug Thompson in the new film. Returning to produce Happy Gilmore 2 are Sandler, Tim Herlihy, Robert Simonds and Jack Giarraputo. Sandler and Herlihy wrote the screenplay for the sequel after having penned the original's script. Earlier this year, Dugan teased Kelce's role in the sequel. 'His acting was really good and funny, and he was just a genuinely nice guy,' Dugan told THR at the time. 'I met him for a day and a half, loved working with him, and now every time he catches a pass on TV, I say, 'My best friend caught another pass.'' During an interview with the Dan Patrick Show that aired late last year, Sandler admitted to feeling pressure to live up to the original movie that hit theaters Feb. 16, 1996. 'It's on your mind,' Sandler said at the time. 'We've got a lot of good stuff, and we just want to make sure that it all comes together and keeps it going from start to finish, and that's the goal. We'll see. We're definitely nervous, but we feel some sort of confidence.'
