New Delhi:
Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's War 2 was one of this year's most-awaited releases, but the film failed to live up to expectations when it opened in theatres last week.
What's Happening
Amid the film's underwhelming run, several online reports suggested that Naga Vamsi, who distributed the Telugu version of the film, had decided to quit the industry.
Clarifying the speculation, Naga Vamsi addressed the rumours on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote in Telugu, "Enti nannu chala miss avthunattu unnaru.. Vamsi adi, Vamsi idi ani gripping narratives tho full hadavidi nadustundi... Parledu, X lo manchi writers unnaru. Sorry to disappoint you all, but inka aa time raaledu... minimum inko 10-15 years undi. At the cinemas... for the cinema, always! See you all with our next outing #MassJathara, Very Soon!"
The post roughly translates to: "It seems like you are missing me too much... There seem to be gripping narratives on Vamsi this and Vamsi that. It's okay, there seem to be good writers on X. Sorry to disappoint you all, but that time hasn't come yet... A minimum of 10-15 years remain for it. At the cinemas... for the cinema, always! See you all with our next outing #MassJathara, Very Soon!"

In Canacona, artisans work overtime to get Ganesh idols ready

Canacona: With a week away, artisans have been spending extra hours on final touches of their handcrafted idols. The festival will begin on Aug 27. Canacona has at least 40 'chitrashalas' or workshops that begin preparations to mould Ganesha idols at the beginning of June. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Manoj Prabhugaonkar, based at Mashem, said that he learnt the art of sculpting idols from his father and wants to pass on the knowledge to his son. His workshop has over 200 idols in different shapes and sizes drying on shelves. 'The last stage is painting the idols,' said Prabhugaonkar , adding that he hired 8-10 labourers from the neighbouring state to meet the high demand. The workshops in the taluka provide seasonal employment to hundreds of workers who are either from Canacona or from the neighbouring Karwar taluka in Karnataka. Due to scarcity and high cost of labour, some artisans prefer help from other family members. Goa govt reimburses Rs 100 per idol as subsidy to artisans which is not enough, considering the high labour expense, cost of clay, etc.

Telugu film body strike ends after CM's intervention

Hyderabad: The nearly three-week-long strike by the Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation, which brought film shooting in the region to a standstill, was called off on Thursday following the intervention of chief minister A Revanth Reddy. The CM engaged with all sections of the Telugu film industry, holding meetings with producers and representatives of the striking unions. After inquiring into the primary issues that led to the strike, he ensured that a "common solution acceptable to all stakeholders" was reached, resulting in the strike being called off. Revanth had also emphasised that the incumbent Congress govt, with the cooperation of the film industry, aims to transform Hyderabad into one of India's leading film hubs and a true film capital. This vision document will be unveiled on or before December 9 this year," the chief minister said. The Telugu film industry had come to a complete halt since August 4, after the employees' federation launched a strike demanding a wage increase. Producers had suspended all shoots, with the film chamber stating it could not accommodate the workers' demand for a 30% pay rise. The strike had prompted several production houses to consider relocating from Hyderabad. The city serves as a production centre for Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, and other language films. Online money games spreading like drugs in society: Ashwini Vaishnaw

In this episode of Newstrack, the focus is on Parliament's passing of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill 2025, a move set to overhaul India's digital entertainment sector. The bill effectively outlaws online money games, citing concerns over addiction, financial ruin, and money laundering. In an exclusive conversation with Marya Shakil, Managing Editor, India Today TV, Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav defended the legislation, stating it was a necessary strict action against a menace spreading 'like drugs.' He said, 'Wherever the choice is between middle class and a segment of the industry, the welfare of the middle class has to be seen.' The programme also explores the industry's reaction, which warns the ban could push gamers towards illegal platforms and impact a Rs 2 lakh crore sector. The show also touches upon the government's new policy on sporting ties with Pakistan, allowing for games in multi-nation tournaments like the Asia Cup but maintaining a ban on bilateral series.
