Abhishek Bachchan recalls ‘huge fight' with ‘adamant' Aditya Chopra during Dhoom 2: ‘He said no'
Actors and filmmakers have often spoken about creative differences with each other. In a recent interaction, Abhishek Bachchan recalled a disagreement he had with filmmaker-producer Aditya Chopra on Dhoom 2, over the song 'Dil Laga Na', which he was pushed into doing. He felt was completely out of character for his role as ACP Jai Dixit — a no-nonsense, serious cop throughout the film.
During an interaction with ETimes, Abhishek admitted that he 'had a huge fight with Aditya Chopra' over the decision to make him dance in the song. He explained that in the scene, his character allows Hrithik Roshan's character, a thief, to enjoy the night because he plans to arrest him the next day. The song 'Dil Laga Na' then begins, and the entire cast breaks into dance. Abhishek felt that since his character was a 'tough-as-nails cop with a no-nonsense attitude,' it didn't make sense for him to suddenly start dancing.
Abhishek shared that he would have preferred to simply sit at the bar where his character and Hrithik's character had their conversation and silently gauge Hrithik's attitude. Abhishek recalled that Aditya Chopra refused his suggestion, saying, 'Adi was adamant. We had a huge fight on it. He said no, the audience wants to see all the cast dance.'
Despite their difference of opinion, Abhishek acknowledged that such creative disagreements are common between filmmakers and actors, and everything was resolved in the end — especially since the film turned out to be a massive success. 'At the end of the day, the film did really well, so you also have to accept that maybe you don't know everything.'
He further admitted that since Dhoom 2 was a commercial film, audiences weren't expected to approach it with deep analysis. 'Dhoom is also not just this character-driven piece. It's a popcorn film. So, I think the justification was there. Don't use your brain too much,' he said.

Panchayat Season 4 Review: An overstay in Phulera
Take, for instance, the protagonist Abhishek. His existential dread, which was touched upon in the previous seasons, is sidelined. For most of the fourth season, he is only awaiting the result of his MBA entrance. Be it Vikas or Prahlad, characters internal lives seem to be going around in circles. The election wave has swept away the possibility of little nuances and meditative silences. Panchayat becomes more jokey, more macro, only conveying that the dance of democracy is just a bunch of janky moves. The series has now become a regular hangout spot which offers no new vision. There are a few additions, though, like the quirky casting of lyricist Swanand Kirkire as the MP, which are enjoyable, but only briefly. Sunita Rajwar is electrifying as Kranti Devi. Her performance is the sole one which pops out this season. You can't help but hate her whenever she turns up on screen. Panchayat, when it started, carved its own niche amidst an OTT space inundated with crime thrillers and heavy dramas. It offered a slow-paced, low-stakes narrative, which felt soothingly fresh. Now, these same strengths it is using as formula. The quirks are becoming predictable, as is the narrative. Organic storytelling is turning into a packaged item. Prime Video already houses byproducts like Gram Chikitsalay (2025) and Dupahiya (2025). The Phulera-isms are becoming overbearing, the essence is losing out. Sometimes it's better to burn out than to fade away.

Panchayat Season 4 Ending Explained: Who Wins Phulera And What To Expect In Season 5
Last Updated: Panchayat Season 4 ends with a surprise election result and heartbreak. Here's what it means and how it sets up Season 5. The finale of Panchayat Season 4 on Prime Video left fans with a bittersweet mix of closure and anticipation. While Jitendra Kumar's Abhishek Tripathi (Sachiv Ji) achieves a personal victory by clearing his MBA entrance exam with a 97 percentile, the village of Phulera is rocked by a political shake-up. Panchayat Season 4 continues from the tense ending of Season 3, where a gunshot disrupted the peaceful rhythm of village life. In the final episode, Abhishek nervously awaits his CAT results, which Rinki (Sanvikaa) checks and reveals with excitement. His achievement prompts a quiet celebration with Pradhan Ji (Raghubir Yadav), Prahlad (Faisal Malik), and Vikas (Chandan Roy). Later, an emotional Rinki confesses her fear of him leaving Phulera, leading to a tender exchange where both admit their feelings for each other. Meanwhile, political tensions culminate as the results of the fiercely contested Panchayat election are announced. Bhushan (Durgesh Kumar) and Kranti Devi (Sunita Rajwar), backed by MLA Chandrakishore (Pankaj Jha), defeat Manju Devi (Neena Gupta) by 73 votes. Binod, Bhushan's supporter, breaks down with emotion while Pradhan Ji is left devastated. The symbolic moment arrives when Manju Devi's name is replaced with Kranti Devi's on the office nameplate. When Bhushan asks if Sachiv Ji's name will remain, Abhishek dryly replies it will stay 'for at least 3–4 months," subtly hinting at his possible departure for MBA studies. Despite the emotional tone, the show ends on a positive note for fans of Abhishek and Rinki's budding romance. Abhishek finally texts her 'I love you," to which Rinki replies, 'I love you too," signaling a new beginning amid uncertainty. So, what's next? Season 5 is expected to tackle whether Abhishek will leave Phulera or choose love and community over career. Manju Devi's defeat may fuel a political comeback arc, while Prahlad could emerge as a stronger local leader or even MLA candidate. Though no official release date is out, actor Sanvikaa confirmed that Panchayat Season 5 is already in development, with shooting likely to begin by late 2025. As Panchayat blends small-town charm with larger political shifts, Season 5 promises deeper character arcs, more drama and maybe a big decision from Sachiv Ji. First Published:
