Q: How long is it going to take to secure AI agreements, especially with government bureaucracy involved? A: Sheldon Bennett, CEO: It can take a long time with government, but we remain optimistic about securing agreements in the coming months. The Canadian government has a sense of urgency to achieve AI self-sufficiency, and we are actively working through the process with various agencies. We aim for long-term agreements that command a premium, rather than short-term ones that may not cover high capital costs.
Q: Why didn't you use debt financing to fund AI equipment purchases? A: Sheldon Bennett, CEO: Debt instruments require a revenue source to back them. The 2 megawatts of AI infrastructure we purchased do not generate immediate cash flow, so it wasn't feasible to secure financing. We used our own funds to jumpstart our AI initiatives.
Q: How does DMG compare to other mining stocks like Hive and Marra, and what strategies could lead to all-time highs? A: Steven Elescu, COO: On an EV to hash rate basis, we've been valued less than larger peers, but we are focused on translating our investments in software, services, and AI into meaningful results. This could be a catalyst for stock growth. We continue to generate cash from Bitcoin mining, which supports our short-term needs.
Q: What is the strategic rationale for buying the prefabricated data center? A: Steven Elescu, COO: Owning physical infrastructure enhances our credibility in discussions about deploying sovereign AI in Canada. The prefabricated data center serves as a bridge to larger, next-generation data centers and helps us secure initial agreements that can lead to larger offtake agreements.
Q: Why are you more optimistic about long-term Bitcoin mining at the Christina Lake facility? A: Sheldon Bennett, CEO: We are optimistic due to lower overall costs with non-firm power and the potential to retrofit air-cooled infrastructure to hydro-cooled, which is cost-effective. We continue to look for other sites with low-cost energy, but Christina Lake offers competitive advantages.

Trump order will allow alternative assets like cryptocurrencies, private equity in 401(k)s
President Donald Trump will sign an executive order on Thursday to allow alternative assets such as private equity, cryptocurrencies and real estate into 401(k)s, according to a senior White House official. The executive order will direct the U.S. Secretary of Labor to review fiduciary guidance on private market investments in 401(k) and other defined-contribution plans that are governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). The federal law sets minimum standards for most retirement plans. Trump has an executive order signing scheduled at noon. The development was first reported by Bloomberg News. An executive order would mark a major victory for alternative asset industry, which has pushed for greater adoption of private assets in defined contribution plans under Trump's second term in office. Bitcoin jumped on Thursday in response to the news. Private equity stocks such as Apollo Group were slightly higher on Thursday in early trading. Private market exposure in 401(k) plans was considered permissible in 2020, when the Department of Labor under the first Trump administration issued an information letter saying it could be appropriate for defined contribution plans under certain conditions. The guidance was later affirmed by the Biden-directed agency. But its presence is starting to expand. Asset managers and plan sponsors have created products for retirement vehicles in which Americans collectively hold roughly $8.7 trillion in assets, according to data on 401(k)s at the end of the first quarter of 2025 from the Investment Company Institute. In June, BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, said it's launching a 401(k) target date fund in the first half of 2026 that will include a 5% to 20% allocation to private investments. In May, Empower, the country's second-largest retirement plan provider, said it's joining asset managers such as Apollo to start allowing private assets in some accounts later this year.

It's 'entirely possible' bitcoin could fall below $100K by 2026
Bitcoin (BTC-USD) has pulled back from recent record highs. Canary Capital founder and CEO Steven McClurg joins Market Catalysts with Julie Hyman to discuss the possibility of bitcoin dropping below $100,000 by 2026. To watch more expert insights and analysis on the latest market action, check out more Market Catalysts. Well, Bitcoin is pulling back from recent record highs, hovering just below $115,000 this morning. Polymarket, by the way, pricing in a 53% chance that Bitcoin dips below $100,000 by the end of the year. My next guest says, this could be a combination of risk off sentiment and seasonality, potentially weighing on crypto. Joining me now, Stephen McClerg, Canary Capital founder and CEO. He's joining me in the studio. Good to see you. Good to see you, Julie. So what do you think, below 100,000 by the end of the year? I think it's entirely possible. Uh we have a lot of great tailwinds that's pushing Bitcoin up, probably to about 140, 150,000. But it's highly possible that we see Bitcoin below 100,000 at some point, uh if not now, as in the next 30 days, or by the end of the year. What is driving Bitcoin at this point, right? Because all this year, the narrative in the first half of the year was really all around regulation, loosening, people coming into the market, institutional adoption continuing. Now all that stuff is kind of behind us. So now what? Exactly. Well, I mean look, if you think about it, a year ago, Bitcoin was in $40,000 range. So the fact that it's gone so high, so fast, 3X in the last year, uh is quite significant. So there is a bit of reversion of the mean here. Got you. Okay. And the other thing that I find interesting about Bitcoin is, you know, in the earlier days, I guess, it was seen as sort of this thing that didn't correlate to anything. But now it seems like it is sort of a risk on asset to some degree, right? And so we've seen some money coming out of it recently. So how should investors be thinking about it in that way and where it belongs in the portfolio? Sure. Well, when I was in traditional finance before people were heavily invested in things like cryptocurrencies, we looked at what correlated to inflation. And a lot of people look at things like tips or gold. And the reality is is gold isn't very well correlated to inflation. Uh tips aren't well correlated either. Equities are actually the best correlation to inflation. So if you expect inflation, uh it's a great time to buy equities. Uh cryptocurrencies have fallen to that category as well as a risk asset. So not only uh as a risk asset is it following equities in some in some areas, it also closely follows global M2 supply. And we see a very strong correlation between Bitcoin and global M2 sup- and global M2 monetary supply.
