Suniel Shetty sparks fresh row, says ‘if husband is building career, wife needs to take care of child', netizens react

Mint27-07-2025
Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has once again landed in a controversy with his latest 'wife needs to take care of child' remark. Previously, it was his "comfort of C-section' remark which earned him backlash on the internet. Now, he is being criticised once again for saying that a wife should understand and take care of their child while the husband is busy with his career.
During an interview, Suniel Shetty was asked how the concept of marriage has evolved over time.
He told Pinkvilla, 'Aaj kal bachon mein patience hai hi nahi. Shaadi kuch time ke baad ek samjhauta hota hai, where you have to understand each other, live for each other. (Kids these days have no patience. Marriage, after a while, becomes a compromise, where you have to understand each other and live for one another).'
He went on to add how the wife's role should change after the arrival of a child in a family.
He added, 'Phir ek bacha aata hai, aur patni ko yeh jaan na zaruri hai ki husband career banayega toh bache ko main dekh rahi hoon. Husband, of course, saath mein dekhega. Par aaj kal sab cheezon mein pressure bohot ho gaya hai. (Then a child comes into the picture, and the wife needs to understand that if the husband is building his career, she will need to take care of the child. Of course, the husband will also be involved. But these days, there is just too much pressure in everything)."
Suniel also acknowledged that much has changed over the years, pointing out how the virtual world now offers advice on everything, from parenting tips on being a mother or father to guidance on what to eat and how to live.
His statement has received mixed reactions from the internet. Reacting to it, someone posted on Reddit and wrote, 'He needs to stop talking.'
A user commented sarcastically, 'I think he should try C-section in interviews since the delivery of his statements normally go wrong (sic).' 'Bhai apni image khud hee kharab kar raha h (he is ruining his own image)... Sometimes being quiet is the wisest thing, doesn't their PR team advice them? Or even people around them…Bro should learn from his damad (sic).'
'After natural birth warrior story he is back with a male chauvinism anecdote! Seriously he should just stop talking (sic),' added another.
'He has turned out to be such an unlikable person,' one more wrote.
He will be next seen in the upcoming season of Hunter Tootega Nahi Todega.

Coolie Box Office: Rajinikanth's Film Earns Rs 250 Crore Before Release, Beats Vijay's Leo

Last Updated: Reportedly, Coolie has already earned Rs 30 crore from its advance bookings overseas. Rajinikanth's Coolie is one of the most anticipated films of the year, and it appears to be all set to dominate the box office. While bookings for the film are already open, it has now been reported that Lokesh Kanagaraj's directorial has also earned Rs 250 crore already. How? Let's find out: Coolie Earns Rs 250 Crore Even Before Release? If a report by Pinkvilla is to be believed, the Rajinikanth starrer, which has been made on a massive budget of Rs 375 crore, has already earned close to Rs 250 crore from the sale of its international, digital, music, and satellite rights. Reportedly, the film's international rights have been sold for Rs 68 crore. This means that the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial has scored the second biggest deal of all time for a Tamil film. Coolie Rules International Market, Beats Leo Another report by Sacnilk claims that Coolie has already earned Rs 30 crore from its advance bookings overseas. With this, the film is likely to achieve the biggest opening for a Tamil film in the international markets, surpassing Thalapathy Vijay's Leo. Interestingly, Leo was also directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and had collected Rs 66 crore on its opening day from overseas territories in 2023. Will Coolie Have Early Morning Shows? In Kerala and Karnataka, select theatres will kick off early screenings as soon as 6 am on August 14. However, in Tamil Nadu, fans will have to wait until 9 am for the first show due to local regulations. The Tamil Nadu government has prohibited early morning screenings ever since a fan tragically lost his life during the first-day-first-show of Thunivu in 2023. As a result, theatres across the state have confirmed that Coolie will not be screened before 9 am. The film has also been given an 'A' certificate by the Censor Board, restricting entry to viewers aged 18 and above. Several cinemas have already issued public disclaimers to ensure audiences are aware. Apart from Rajinikanth, Coolie also stars stalwarts from the Indian film industry like Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir and Shruti Haasan in pivotal roles.
