The Agniveer CEE was held in 13 languages: English, Hindi, Malyalam, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Odiya, Bengali, Urdu, Gujarati, Assamese and Marathi for several posts comprising General Duty (GD), Technical, Clerk, Store Keeper Technical, Tradesman, Sainik Pharma, Sainik Technical Nursing Assistant and Mahila Police from June 30 to July 10, 2025.
The Agniveer 2025 recruitment process, aiming to fill approximately 25,000 vacancies, began on March 12 this year, with the admit card for the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) issued on June 16.
The Agniveer CEE was an objective-type examination consisting of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Depending on the application category, candidates were required to attempt either 50 questions in one hour or 100 questions in two hours.
'The selection process will comprise an online entrance examination, followed by a recruitment rally for candidates selected in the merit list,' HT quoted a defence spokesperson as saying.
Phase II of the Agniveer recruitment process, known as Rally and Screening, involves several stages to assess the candidates' physical and mental fitness, as well as verify their eligibility. It begins with the Physical Fitness Test (PFT), which includes a 1.6 km run, push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups to evaluate endurance and strength. This is followed by the Physical Measurement Test (PMT), where candidates are measured for height, weight, and chest size according to the required standards.
Next is a comprehensive Medical Examination to ensure the candidate is medically fit for service. Document Verification is then conducted to authenticate educational qualifications, age, identity, and category certificates. In some cases, an Adaptability Test is also administered to assess the candidate's psychological readiness and ability to adjust to the military lifestyle.

New Delhi: Indian Army's Vice Chief, Lt General N.S. Raja Subramani retired from service on Thursday after an illustrious military career spanning nearly four decades. His retirement marks the end of a remarkable journey of service and commitment to the Indian Army and the nation. Commissioned into the Garhwal Rifles in December 1985 after graduating from the prestigious National Defence Academy, Lt Gen Subramani has served the army with distinction across diverse operational theatres, including the northeast and Jammu and Kashmir. His career has been marked by strategic brilliance, operational excellence, and inspirational leadership, a Defence Ministry statement said. An academically accomplished officer, Lt Gen Subramani holds a Master of Arts degree from King's College, London, and an in Defence Studies from the University of Madras. These academic credentials complemented his field experience, shaping him into a strategic thinker and an operational leader with a deep understanding of India's security architecture, particularly along the western and northern borders. Throughout his career, he held several key command, staff, and instructional appointments. His contributions have been pivotal in enhancing the Indian Army's operational preparedness and strengthening national defence capabilities. In recognition of his exceptional service, Lt Gen Subramani has been decorated with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), Sena Medal (SM), and the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM). As he stepped down from the post of Vice Chief of the Army Staff, the Indian Army expressed deep gratitude for his selfless service, visionary leadership, and unwavering dedication, and conveyed its best wishes for continued success and fulfilment in his future endeavours beyond the uniform. Lt General Pushpendra Pal Singh will take over as the next Vice Chief of the Army Staff on Friday.

Army commemorates King Marthanda Varmas 1741 triumph over Dutch at Colachel
Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 31 (PTI) The Madras Regiment of the Indian Army on Thursday commemorated the 284th anniversary of the Battle of Colachel, where Travancore forces under King Marthanda Varma defeated the Dutch East India Company in a unique amphibious battle fought both at sea and on land in 1741. The Battle of Colachel was fought on July 31, 1741, about 68 km south of present-day Thiruvananthapuram, and historians describe it as the first victory of an Indian force over a well-armed European power. Travancore forces under King Marthanda Varma, fighting both at sea and on land, overcame the Dutch. Colachel is now part of the state of Tamil Nadu. 'This earned the House of Travancore the unique distinction of being the only Asian military power to ever have defeated a leading European sea power at sea and land," a Defence release said here. The victorious Marthanda Varma commemorated this achievement of Indian soldiers and sailors by erecting a majestic Victory Pillar near the beach at Colachel. The commemoration took place at the Colachel War Memorial in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari district, which stands as a pillar of valour and remembrance of the Travancore Army's great victory over the Dutch forces. The event was attended by military and civilian dignitaries, retired officers, police officials, NCC cadets and local residents. Among them were Major General VDI Devavaram, SM, VSM (Retd), Major General Flora (Retd), Vinayakumar Meena, IAS, Sub-Collector of Thakkalai, Kannadasan, Colachel DSP, and Kanniyappan, Municipal Commissioner.
