5 national roads still impassable due to Crising, Habagat
Speaking on Super Radyo dzBB, DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan said most of the impassable road sections are in the Cordillera Administrative Region.
This includes Kennon Road that links Baguio City to Rosario, Pangasinan, where a boulder rolled down a mountain, killing a pet dog before smashing a parked car.
'More or less, mula July 17 hanggang kahapon, ang report sa atin ay 13 national roads were rendered unpassable, walo na ang cleared kahapon,' Bonoan said.
(From July 17 to yesterday, 13 national roads were reported impassable, and eight have since been cleared.)
'Hindi naman gaano malalaki 'yung sira na sinabi sa akin (the damage was not that serious). I am hoping that by today or tomorrow, passable na ang mga kalsada,' he added.
No bridges were reported damaged due to the inclement weather, Bonoan said.
Meanwhile, the Manila North Road and Cagayan Valley Road are now passable.
In a separate dzBB interview, Batanes Governor Ronald Aguto Jr. said Crising did not have a significant effect on the country's northernmost province.
'Walang masyadong ulan dito noong bagyong Crising. Nakahanda naman ang lahat kaya walang kailangang i-preemptive evacuate,' Aguto said.
(There was little rain here during Crising. Everyone was prepared, so there was no need for any preemptive evacuation.)
Currently, Aguto said the weather in Batanes is calm.
'Kalmado na ang panahon dito. Medyo maulap nang kaunti pero sa awa ng Diyos, maganda na ang panahon,' he said.
(The weather here is now calm. It's still a bit cloudy, but by God's grace, the weather has improved.)
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council earlier reported that three people died while another three were injured due to the effects of Crising and the Habagat.
The report also showed that a total of 370,289 individuals, or 120,008 families, were affected by Crising, which exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday. — RF, GMA Integrated News

OCD: P4 billion in infra damaged by Crising, Habagat, LPA
'In terms of damages, meron pa tayong P4 billion worth of infrastructure damage as reported. Pero this is still subject to validation ng ating mga ahensya,' OCD officer-in-charge Assistant Secretary Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV said in a virtual press briefing. Damage to infrastructure worth P4 billion was reported in the country due to the impact of Tropical Cyclone Crising, the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, and a low-pressure area (LPA), according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Wednesday. (In terms of damages, we still have P4 billion worth of infrastructure damage as reported. But this is still subject to validation by our agencies.) 'For agriculture naman, ang losses already amounts to P217.5 million pesos dahil apektado po ang ating corn, rice, and other high value crops na pananim dito sa ating bagyong ito,' he added. (For agriculture, the losses already amount to 217.5 million pesos because our corn, rice, and other high-value crops are affected by this tropical cyclone.) Alejandro said nearly 1.9 million people, or 533,213 families, were affected by the bad weather. Of the affected population, around 25,000 families were staying in evacuation centers while 21,000 families were taking shelter in other places. On July 16, a low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) developed into Tropical Depression Crising. On July 19, Crising intensified as a severe tropical storm and exited the PAR. Despite Crising's exit, Habagat continued to bring rains in some parts of the country. Twelve people were reported dead due to the impact of Crising and Habagat, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Wednesday. Most of the reported deaths were recorded in Calabarzon, with five. This was followed by Negros Island Region with three. One fatality was reported each in Metro Manila, Mimaropa, Northern Mindanao, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARRM). The victims died due to drowning and falling trees. Nine people were reported missing and seven others were reported injured. The information from the PNP is up for validation by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). –NB, GMA Integrated News

NFA rice stocks good for 12 days —Palace
Malacañang on Wednesday said the rice buffer stocks at warehouses of the National Food Authority (NFA) are adequate for the government's response and relief efforts amid the adverse weather conditions. "Sabi ng NFA administration, super secure in terms of buffer stock ang NFA at meron po tayong enough stocks to last for 12 days. Buong Pilipinas po ay makakakain," Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said at a press briefing. (The NFA administration assured that we are secured in terms of buffer stock and the NFA has enough stocks to last for 12 days. The entire Philippines could be fed.) Castro said the NFA's rice stocks are available for release to requesting local government units (LGUs) and relief agencies. "Nationwide, wala pong nadanyos na stocks at ang NFA ay ready anytime to release stocks to requesting LGUs (local government units) and relief agencies," she said. (Rice stocks nationwide did not sustain any damage; the NFA is ready anytime to release stocks to requesting LGUs and relief agencies.) The Palace official made the clarification since Occidental Mindoro and Valenzuela City, sites of NFA warehouses, were affected by flooding due to heavy rains brought about by the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, intensified by severe tropical storm Crising. Habagat is currently being monitored as it is being enhanced again by Tropical Storm "Dante" and tropical depression "Emong." —LDF, GMA Integrated News
