Rams waive former Georgia CFP hero
Rams waive former Georgia CFP hero The Los Angeles Rams have waived former Georgia Bulldogs cornerback Derion Kendrick after three seasons. Kendrick was a sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft. Georgia had a record-breaking 15 players selected in the 2022 draft. Kendrick developed into a productive player for the Rams. He started 18 of 32 games during his first two seasons with Los Angeles. However, he tore his ACL during the first week of training camp in 2024, which forced him out for the entire 2024 season. Now, Kendrick is looking to comeback from his ACL injury, but he'll have to find another NFL team first. Kendrick posted 14 pass deflections, 92 tackles and one interception during his first two years in the NFL. He has the ability to start at outside cornerback and should find a new team relatively soon as long as he's healthy. Kendrick played the first three seasons of his college career at Clemson before transferring to Georgia for the 2021 season. The talented cornerback intercepted four passes including two in the College Football Playoff semifinals against Michigan in his lone season at Georgia, which ended in a national championship victory over Alabama. Waiving Kendrick saves the Rams $3.4 million in cap space. Kendrick was participating in OTAs with the Rams before his release. He injured his ACL in late July 2024, so he's had almost a year to recover. The Rams are down to just three former Georgia Bulldogs now. Los Angeles has quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Stetson Bennett along with offensive lineman Warren McClendon on their roster.

Ex-Rams second-round RB signs with Saints
Ex-Rams second-round RB signs with Saints Cam Akers will join this third team in three years after the former Los Angeles Rams second-round pick signed with the New Orleans Saints this week, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini. Akers began his career with the Rams in 2020, rushing 360 times for 1,443 yards and 10 touchdowns in 30 games. He missed the entire 2021 season after Akers tore his Achilles before the season. The Rams traded Akers to the Minnesota Vikings after two games in 2023 for unknown reasons, giving way to Kyren Williams taking over the starting role. Williams went on to rush for 1,144 yards and 12 touchdowns that season. Akers, meanwhile, sustained another Achilles injury in Week 9 and missed the rest of the year for Minnesota. He started the 2024 season with the Houston Texans before being traded back to the Vikings before Week 7. For his career, Akers has rushed 502 times for 2,025 yards and 13 touchdowns. Now, he'll join a crowded Saints backfield with Alvin Kamara, former 2020 first-round running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kendre Miller, and 2025 sixth-round pick Devin Neal.

QB Mikey Keene's Health Status Gets Update From Michigan Football Insider
QB Mikey Keene's Health Status Gets Update From Michigan Football Insider originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Michigan Wolverines revamped their quarterback room this offseason with the additions of five-star prospect Bryce Underwood and Fresno State transfer Mikey Keene, who are expected to battle for the starting job this fall. Advertisement Keene showed off his skills at the Big House in Ann Arbor during last season's opener for the Bulldogs and Wolverines, giving Sherrone Moore a taste of the type of player he could become in a winged helmet. On Thursday, Keene's recent injury status was revealed by a Michigan insider, and it's good news for Wolverines fans and the Wolverines quarterback room headed toward the fall football season. Mikey Keene throws as a defender hangs on during a Nov. 30, 2025 game at UCLA. © Robert Hanashiro-Imagn Images "I think Mikey Keene is starting to heal up, I talked to Chip Lindsey today, the offensive coordinator, and he said, he's back healthy, he's throwing a little bit, and he had an upper body injury that really limited him, so I suppose he could come out of nowhere and all of a sudden pick up the offense, having worked with Chip Lindsey before, and just wowing everybody to the point where, 'Okay, he's the guy," Chris Balas said in an interview on X, going on to state that Bryce Underwood is still the favorite to start. Advertisement Keene had 2,892 passing yards last season along with 18 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions on a Bulldogs offense that lacked playmakers. Michigan has a similar question mark at wide receiver and is in need of a new go-to guy at the position. If Keene and Underwood are able to develop their skills, and raise the level of play of those around them, the Wolverines could find themselves with a far superior passing attack this season.
