Speaking on the occasion, the MLA stated that the coalition government stands by those in need and provides relief to affected families through the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. He informed that over the past year, a total of Rs 1, 88, 91, 144 has been sanctioned for 147 beneficiaries within his constituency.
He further lauded Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for his humanitarian approach and prompt response in assisting families suffering from health issues. Beneficiaries, their family members, and local leaders participated in the programme.

108 ambulance operators' strike enters 2nd day, patients suffer
Ranchi: Patients in Ranchi and across the state faced major inconvenience as the indefinite strike launched by the 108 ambulance operators entered the second day on Tuesday. Despite working in the essential service sector, the ambulance drivers and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) launched the strike, demanding a hike in their payments and improved working conditions. An official of the ambulance service provider, however, denied providing a lower salary or depriving them of benefits. Even as the employees and the service provider are making charges and counter-charges against each other, patients are shelling out extra money to hire private vehicles and ambulances. Later, the service provider said it would not allow the employees to hold the essential service to ransom and would take up alternative measures to streamline the service at the earliest. Some measures were already in place to help the patients, the service provider added. Notably, around 100 ambulance drivers and EMTs from various districts gathered in Ranchi to stage a protest against the Bihar-based private agency, Samman Foundation, which is operating the 108 ambulance service in the state. Neeraj Tiwari, the state president of the Jharkhand Pradesh Ambulance Karmachari Sangh, alleged that despite being engaged in an emergency service that has been providing essential health assistance to the people since the inception of 108 ambulance services in Jharkhand in 2017, their standard of living has deteriorated. According to Tiwari, the workers were neither given medical benefits nor the salary promised under the state labour laws. Moreover, they don't get overtime money, though they work 12 hours or more without getting any holidays or days off, Tiwari claimed. The protesting workers also demanded provident funds and medical insurance facilities. Hosp told to pay 34L for death due to delayed ICU admission
Mumbai: Observing that right to emergency medical care is a part of right to life under the Constitution and that hospitals and doctors are duty-bound to provide life-saving treatment immediately, regardless of consent, the state consumer commission recently directed Wockhardt Hospitals, Nashik, to pay Rs 34 lakh in compensation to the father of a young man who died after it failed to admit him to the ICU in a timely manner in 2010. The patient, Ravindra Naidu, who had a complicated medical history, died a day after he was admitted for a nosebleed. Despite suffering a fall in the bathroom and complaining of chest pain and uneasiness, he was not shifted to the ICU. The hospital claimed the father had refused ICU admission but failed to provide documentary proof of that. "A relative's consent is generally not legally required for admitting a patient to ICU. If the patient is critically ill and needs emergency care, the hospital and doctors can admit the patient to ICU under the doctrine of implied consent," the panel said. He had a complex medical history, including being a chronic smoker and occasional alcohol user, and had been diagnosed with hypertension (he stopped medication on his own around 10 days prior to admission). According to the complaint, Ravindra's condition deteriorated significantly around 3am when he complained of chest pain and uneasiness after falling while going to the bathroom. It alleged that doctors did not immediately provide proper treatment, nor was he admitted to the ICU until 7am. The father said from 7am-11 am, the hospital did not inform relatives about his condition or allow them to meet him. He believed his son died around 8.30am on April 16, but treatment was unnecessarily continued till 12.30pm to create false evidence. The patient was declared dead later in the day. The hospital and its doctors claimed all protocols were followed. They said Ravindra's death resulted from pre-existing medical conditions and his unilateral decision to stop prescribed anti-hypertensive medication, which directly led to accelerated hypertension and a fatal heart attack. The hospital said ICU admission was advised upon admission but refused by the patient and his relatives, which was recorded in the ICU register. They said all experts concluded that the patient's death was due to cardiovascular complications from accelerated hypertension.

Bengaluru Man, 70, Out For Walk, Mauled To Death By Stray Dogs Outside Home
A 70-year-old man, Seethappa, died after being allegedly mauled by a pack of stray dogs just outside his house in Kodigehalli, Karnataka, during the early hours of Sunday. According to his family members, the elderly man had stepped out for a walk around midnight as he was unable to sleep, when a group of at least eight strays allegedly attacked him. Seethappa suffered serious injuries to his hands, legs, and face, with portions of flesh torn off in the attack. His family members, who rushed out upon hearing the commotion, claim they witnessed the pack of dogs attacking him. He was declared dead at the hospital. The Kodigehalli Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. An Unnatural Death Report (UDR) has been filed in the matter. Cops are examining CCTV footage and speaking to residents to establish the sequence of events. This incident is the latest in a disturbing rise in stray dog attacks across the country. A couple of weeks ago, a three-year-old girl was viciously attacked in Shimla Nagar of Old Hubballi in Karnataka. The child, who was walking towards a shop, was attacked by a group of stray dogs in the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation area. CCTV footage of the attack showed the dogs biting her shoulder, back, legs, and arms, dragging her to the ground. She was rushed to KIMS Hospital with serious injuries. The Bruhat Bengaluru Municipal Parishad (BBMP) recently launched a project worth Rs 2.9 crore to feed 4,000-5,000 stray dogs daily across Bengaluru. Through the scheme, BBMP planned to provide cooked meals of chicken, rice, and other meals to stray dogs. The aim was to reduce dog aggression, among other things. The move sparked public debate, with many questioning the move to feed stray dogs. Congress MP Karti Chidambaram has expressed concern over increasing dog bite incidents across the country and said it's a "health and safety issue". The Congress MP told NDTV that the Centre's data, shared in the Parliament, showed that over 37 lakh dog bite cases were reported last year, but "does not give a full picture because of the reporting mechanism." The Congress MP has raised the issue of stray dogs, their rehabilitation, and incidents of dog bites in the past. Mr Chidambaram said he even met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the concern.
