UP CM Yogi Adityanath announces to name medical college after Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar in Auraiya
The UP chief minister slammed the previous Samajwadi Party state government for renaming a degree college in Auraiya.
'There was a degree college in Auraiya named after Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar. The Samajwadi Party government had changed the name of that degree college. Today, I am happy to announce that in the same Auraiya, we will name the Government Medical College after Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar', CM Yogi said.
Earlier, CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the National Seminar-2025 on 'Harmony with Nature and Sustainable Development' on Thursday.
The CM stated that achieving the country's goal of net zero by 2070 could not be fulfilled solely by the government but required the collective efforts of everyone.
'Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured the world that India will achieve the target of net zero by 2070. But the task of achieving this target is not just at the government level but through the collective efforts of all of us... Today, a national seminar has also been organised here regarding this program, after which the vision is how we can create harmony with nature and ensure sustainable development...' Yogi said addressing the people.
Meanwhile, earlier today, the CM directed officials of concerned districts to carry out relief work promptly in view of storms, rain, and hailstorms, as per a release. The CM has stated that officials should visit the affected areas, conduct surveys, and closely monitor the relief efforts.
In cases of loss of human or animal life due to lightning, storms, or rain-related disasters, relief funds should be immediately distributed to the affected families. Proper medical treatment should be provided to the injured.
Instructions have also been sent to officials to assess crop damage through surveys and send reports to the government so that further action can be taken. He further directed that in case of waterlogging, proper arrangements for drainage should be made on a priority basis. (ANI)

Synopsis Pakistan has prolonged its airspace ban for Indian aircraft until September 23, as announced by the Pakistan Airports Authority through a new NOTAM. This restriction, initially imposed on April 23 due to heightened tensions after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, prohibits Indian airlines and aircraft from using Pakistani airspace. India had previously responded with a reciprocal airspace closure for Pakistani aircraft. The Pakistan Airports Authority has issued a fresh NOTAM (notice to airmen) announcing the one-month extension of the restriction on Indian aircraft in Pakistan's airspace. "All aircraft operated by Indian airlines will not be allowed to use Pakistani airspace. The ban also remains in place for military and civilian aircraft that are Indian-owned or leased," the authority said. The ban was initially imposed on April 23 for one month in the wake of tension between the two countries following the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The move barred Indian carriers and aircraft from flying over Pakistani territory. Days later, on April 30, India responded with a reciprocal airspace closure for Pakistani aircraft and airlines. The tit-for-tat restrictions were first extended on May 23.

Uttarakhand Cabinet clears amendment to anti-conversion law with stricter penalties
A press statement by the government said the amendment defines inducement broadly, making it a criminal offence to attempt conversion by offering money, gifts or job opportunities, promising free education, deceiving with a marriage proposal, or using social media for promotion. Concealing one's religion with the intent to marry will also be treated as a crime, punishable with three to ten years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3 lakh. New Delhi: The Uttarakhand cabinet last week approved the Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act, 2025, introducing stricter provisions against forced, fraudulent or inducement-based religious conversions. General cases will attract 3 to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000, while offences involving women, children, SC/ST or differently-abled persons will be punishable with 5 to 14 years in jail and a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Mass conversions will carry imprisonment of 7 to 14 years along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh, and accepting foreign funds for conversions will invite 7 to 14 years of imprisonment and a minimum fine of Rs 10 lakh. Conversions carried out through threats, assault or trafficking will be punishable with 20 years to life imprisonment, the statement said. The amendment also allows for confiscation of any property acquired through illegal conversions by the district magistrate, with the accused required to prove the legitimacy of the property. Victims will be provided legal aid, shelter, maintenance, medical facilities and confidentiality of identity, and the government will introduce a special scheme for immediate support, the statement said, adding that all offences under the Act will be cognizable and non-bailable, with police empowered to arrest without warrant.
