While Block has not admitted any wrongdoing, it agreed last month to resolve the lawsuit with a $12.5 million payout.
Who qualifies for the Cash App settlement?
According to CNET and Newsweek, the settlement only applies to residents of Washington state who received these marketing messages between November 14, 2019, and an undetermined end date.
Block is expected to notify eligible people via email or physical mail based on phone records.
An estimated 2 million people may fall under this class, according to CNET's reporting.
How much could you receive?
Payouts will depend on how many people submit valid claims. If all 2 million eligible recipients participate, each could receive between $88 and $147, CNET and Newsweek reported.
How to apply?
No official claim form or deadline has been announced yet. However, eligible users are encouraged to watch for an official notice from Block and submit claims promptly once the window opens.
This is not the first time Block has faced such allegations. In 2024, the company paid $15 million in a separate class action over data misuse, and later faced $175 million in penalties from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau for security lapses.

Gurugram startup intern reveals he left home, spent Rs 30,000 for dream job, only to be fired in 23 days; Internet furious

Imagine packing your bags, leaving home, spending Rs 30,000 from your savings, and heading to Gurugram for a dream internship, only to be shown the door in just 23 days. That's exactly what happened to a young intern who recently shared their story on Reddit, and now, it's gone viral. The Reddit user, posting under the name @Regrets_only_, revealed they had moved to Gurugram to work at a startup after being promised mentorship and a full-time job within three months. The expected salary? At least Rs 40,000 per month. The intern was suddenly told their role was no longer needed because a client had backed out. No notice. No warning. Just gone. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Malaysia: New Container Houses (Prices May Surprise You) Container House | Search ads Search Now Undo "I was shocked... I regret believing the founder," the intern wrote, calling the entire experience a disaster. Now jobless and stuck in one of India's most competitive job markets, they're trying to figure out their next step, and they're not alone. The story hit a nerve with many online. Several people on Reddit shared similar experiences of being let down by startups. Live Events One person commented, "Same happened to me. Keep applying on LinkedIn, even if most jobs are fake, you'll get a few calls if you're consistent." Another advised, 'Don't lose hope. At that time, it was the best decision you could've made. Maybe ask the founder if he knows someone who's hiring.' This story has reignited an old debate, are Indian startups taking young interns for granted? Many of them work long hours, often unpaid or underpaid, only to be replaced without reason. The shiny promise of 'experience' sometimes hides a darker truth.

The project, sanctioned under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, aims to elevate the site into a world-class tourist destination and boost the tourism potential of the border district. An additional ₹ 625.80 lakh has been set aside for streetscape development featuring digital projections to enrich the visitor experience (HT File) Sanjeev Tiwari, director, Punjab tourism, said the initiative is part of a comprehensive effort to develop infrastructure, enhance beautification, promote digital engagement and empower local communities. Boeing fighter jet workers reject contract: Strike threat looms amid increased F-47 production for US airforce

Union members at Boeing 's fighter jet assembly plants in Missouri and Illinois have overwhelmingly rejected the company's latest contract offer, setting the stage for potential strikes that could disrupt production at critical defense manufacturing facilities. More than 3,200 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Local 837 voted down the contract on Sunday, the day their previous agreement expired. The contract on the table included a 20% wage increase over four years, a $5,000 ratification bonus, and improvements to vacation and sick leave benefits. However, union representatives argued the proposal fell short of addressing the workforce's priorities and sacrifices, motivating the decisive rejection. A statement from IAM Local 837 stressed that the offer did not adequately reflect the skilled workers' value, signaling significant dissatisfaction within Boeing's defense workforce.
