Derry Girls' Saoirse-Monica Jackson pays homage to her roots in Irish wedding
Derry Girls co-star Jamie-Lee O'Donnell wore a long green Rat & Boa dress and attended as one of the bridesmaids while Jackson was walked down the aisle by her father to a cover of the TV show's theme song Dreams by The Cranberries.
Speaking to Vogue, Jackson said of the celebrations: 'Everybody said that the whole weekend was like something from a movie, and it really was.
'I want to do it again.'
Jackson's dress transformed for the evening, which included shortening the skirt and reversing the corset to reveal a tartan side.
There were nods to the bride's mother and mother-in-law's wedding dresses featured in the design of Jackson's custom Annie's Ibiza dress, she told the publication.
Barbour proposed with a custom ring during a trip to a beach in Donegal while the pair were wearing Dryrobes and Crocs, their pair told Vogue.
Jackson said Barbour had written down everything he said during the proposal which she enjoyed being able to read back.
The couple originally thought they would get married abroad in order to have an outdoor celebration but settled on Ireland in order to pay tribute to their shared Celtic heritage, they told Vogue.
Barbour, who is Scottish, wore a kilt and feathered hat for the ceremony, along with his groomsmen.
In a post on Instagram with photos from the celebrations, Jackson wrote 'to infinity and beyond' and included a video of the pair embracing, with her husband lifting her up on the dancefloor.
In another post featuring videos from the day, she wrote 'to all our loved ones, you are everything'.
One of the clips shows Jackson posing in her wedding dress joking 'she's a shy bride, a very shy bride' and later asking 'When's the kissing?'
Jackson can be seen sipping a pint of Guinness in a photo while a video features the bride dancing with O'Donnell, who played fellow schoolgirl Michelle Mallon in Derry Girls.
The Bafta award-winning series, created and written by Lisa McGee on Channel 4, follows a group of teenagers growing up in Northern Ireland in the 1990s before the Good Friday Agreement.

After Gian, 63, popped the question to Angie, 54, in September - just weeks after their first date - the next natural step was to hold their big day on board the mega Villa Vie Odyssey. The couple told The Sun how their 300-guest ship-wide ceremony officiated by the captain was "way too much fun". After four months of repairs, the huge cruise finally set sail last October. And Gian and Angie held their "magical" wedding - where the captain plunged into the pool with the bride and groom. They shared heartwarming images of the ceremony which took place on board the ship between Costa Rica and Nicaragua in May. Gian, from Vancouver, Canada, said: "We not only were honoured with the captain officiating the wedding, but he actually took the plunge into the pool with us as well which was a which was a lot of fun." Gian added: "We had professional dancers, and everybody had bubble guns and bubble wands, and the captain had the the ship's horn go off when we had our first kiss. "It was all very romantic and just way too much fun." Cruise-goers on board the Odyssey are set to visit all their dream holiday destinations across the planet as part of the journey. The huge vessel was previously marred by controversy when crew discovered problems with its rudders and gearbox - causing its launch to be postponed for four months. The residential cruise sells cabins on a permanent basis - with personal rooms starting at $129,000 for 15 years. Despite the eye-watering price tag, the only other residential cruise ship on the planet currently at sea, The World, offers its cheapest cabin for $2.5million. Gian and Angie are permanent owners on the Odyssey - and have their cabins guaranteed for a decade-and-a-half. Having set off just one year ago, they have already visited 36 countries. But they say their inboxes have been flooded by friends from their on board community who can't wait for them to get back. Describing day-to-day life on board the infamous vessel - it seems like the party never ends. "We party hard... The only little space we have left in our cabin is a little liquor storage," Angie said. "You definitely have your party years on board, for sure." Gian, who works in online marketing, said: "We've created some very, very good friendships. "There's been one other wedding on board already, another wedding off the ship, and then a few that have gone the opposite direction as well..." They also revealed the range of fellow crew members on board the ship. Angie said: "Once you start chatting with people and getting their history, it's pretty fascinating the different walks of life that are that are on board." Her husband said: "We've become friends with an ex-state Governor, we had an astronaut on board - one of the few people that's been on the moon." Villa Vie Residences' CEO Mikael Petterson previously revealed: 'We have a very diverse community including a Nobel Peace Prize winner, a White House chief of staff, an astronaut and many scientists and doctors on board that share their knowledge and experiences.' What happened to the Villa Vie Odyssey? by Harvey Geh THE Villa Vie Odyssey, a residential cruise ship offering a three-and-a-half-year world tour, was scheduled to set sail from Belfast in May 2024. But a series of technical issues with the ship's rudders and gearbox led to a four-month delay, keeping the vessel docked at the Harland & Wolff shipyard - where the Titanic was built. During this time, passengers who had sold their homes and packed up all their belongings were stranded in Belfast. The cruise company, Villa Vie Residences, provided accommodation for them in local hotels and serviced apartments - before eventually ending these funds and offering on board credit instead. Gian Perroni and Angela Harsanyi made international headlines when they met and fell in love before getting engaged during the unexpected delay. After numerous postponements, the ship finally set sail on the last day of September 2024 - but had to anchor in Belfast Lough overnight to complete last-minute paperwork and administrative checks before it could officially begin its voyage. Villa Vie admitted the project faced significant challenges - with the unexpected repairs and logistical issues costing them millions of pounds. The extended delays led to tensions among some residents, with one passenger kicked off the cruise for allegedly being 'negative' on a WhatsApp group. Despite its tumultuous and highly publicised four-month delay, the Odyssey finally embarked on its journey in October 2024. In terms of the demographics, Gian estimates 80 per cent of all residents on board the ship are American, quipping: "I even married one." Despite this, he thinks life on board the Odyssey "feels very international", as there are "a lot of different languages being spoken". "As we go to places like, for example, Japan, we've had people that have lived there, that have helped set up itineraries," he said. And even though they are said to be living their dream lives on board the mega-cruise - day-to-day life at sea isn't always plain sailing. "We collectively miss the ease of visiting family when we want or need to, especially the further away we are from home," Gian admitted. "But that is balanced by our ability to invite family to visit and cruise with us." But the pros far outweigh the cons, the couple emphasised. Angie said: "It's just a whole another way to to live and see the world. I find it absolutely fascinating." Gian added: "We've been happily surprised at, for lack of better word, the stickiness - almost everybody that was with us in Belfast is still on the ship." Although Gian is a seasoned traveller, Angie said she had "never been out of the country" before she decided to step outside her comfort zone and board the Odyssey. And she's looking forward to ticking a few spots off her bucket list - with holiday hotspot Fiji being a "big one" for her. The cruisegoer said of the journey: "It's a lifestyle like I couldn't envision when I started... it's wonderful. And I would definitely recommend it to anybody especially young." Why wedding photographers flock to this Glasgow market
Visit the market on any given weekend and you'll be met with crowds made up of a mixture of locals browsing everything from antiques to vintage fashion and tourists keen to immerse themselves in the 'real' Glasgow. The vibrant street art that surrounds the market, as well as its colourful stalls and retro signage, makes it a great spot for photo backdrops. And that is attracting another kind of visitor to The Barras: newly-married couples. Among those often found camera-in-hand at The Barras is Fife-based wedding photographer Dave Fallon, who says the market is "by far" his favourite place in the country for a couples shoot. READ MORE: He told The Herald: 'The Barras is a place I've used for years just because I like street art. "When you go through my social media for wedding photography I always try and find street art wherever I am. Glasgow, as far as I'm concerned, has got to be the best place in Scotland for street art. Timings on a wedding day mean there's not much time for a couples shoot so for me I try and get as much variety as possible. "I like bold colours, I like architecture and I like lines going across the image, whether it's lights from buildings or just whatever is happening. The reason I use The Barras pretty much is because there's a lot of variety there. There's a lot of bold colours in that small area. And the street art does change every so often. It means that I'm not doing the same pictures for every couple." Mr Fallon is also a fan of the market's famous painted roller shutters. "The bright red and green shutters with the McIver's Markets signs above them looks really good for photos. It's such an iconic colour combination". And despite having photographed weddings across Scotland – in locations such as Ayrshire, the Highlands, St Andrews, the Borders and Orkney – Mr Fallon says that nothing quite matches "the banter" newly-married couples receive from "random Glaswegians" at The Barras. It's obviously a hell of a lot busier and it does make it a wee bit more challenging but you do then get all the interactions with members of the public. If you've got random people congratulating you on your wedding day it's obviously quite a big thing for couples. "I think it was last year or the year before Celtic won something and the couple got married at St Luke's. There were thousands of fans walking from Parkhead into the city centre. I took the couple round The Barras. The groom was from the Cotswolds and the bride was from the East End of Glasgow originally. As soon as we arrived this old boy shouted from across the street that the groom was ugly compared to his wife. "It was comedic timing. You've never seen a happier groom. It seems to make a difference to couples because they are all smiley and happy. "If I'm doing a wedding in Glasgow city centre at say Sloans or 23 Montrose St, I'll usually head down to The Barras with the couple to take photos. Sometimes we'll walk down or we'll get a taxi down and just walk back." The memorable photo opportunities afforded by the market also acts as a major selling point for Barra's Art and Design (BAaD), located at the heart of The Barras, and St Luke's, located on nearby Bain Street. The Barras provides a range of backdrops for memorable shots (Image: Dave Fallon Photography) Both venues have now become two of Glasgow's most sought-after wedding destinations, with BAad even taking bookings from couples up to three years in advance to meet demand. Jess Thompson has been Wedding Manager at BAaD since July of 2024. She told The Herald on Sunday: "I have been working hard to establish BAaD as one of Glasgow's best wedding venues on behalf of Merchant City Pubs (Glasgow) Limited. "The venue has become very popular with weddings, with the 2025 and 2026 calendar filling up. We are also taking reservations for 2027 and 2028 weddings. "BAaD is really amazing for couples, as it is so unique and versatile and it can of course hold a lot of sentimental value to couples also if they have memories from growing up in the area or visiting The Barras Market from a young age."
