📈 Power Rankings: Magpies fly in, Real fall again
Power Rankings are back for another instalment as the season reaches crunch time.
Here are the 10 sides in our updated Power Rankings table.
📈 Power Rankings: New entrants and giants in freefall
10. Bayern Munich (👎 Last week: 8)
Bayern Munich's winless run extended to three games across the last week. An entertaining Der Klassiker ended all square with Borussia Dortmund, though the dropped points were not overly costly as nearest challengers Bayer Leverkusen were also held.

Bayern drew again in midweek, though this time the result was a bitter blow. Despite a spirited draw at Inter Milan, the German giants exited the Champions League.
9. Newcastle United (🆕)
Newcastle United are flying right now and have racked up six straight wins in all competitions. In the past week, the Magpies have thrashed Manchester United and Crystal Palace at St James' Park, scoring nine goals and conceding just one. Up to third in the Premier League table, a runners-up finish is not beyond Eddie Howe's side.
8. Roma (👎 Last week: 5)
Roma's hopes of a place in Europe were dented this week, after a 1-1 draw with Lazio in The Derby della Capitale.
Claudio Ranieri's side are 16 games unbeaten in Serie A but goals have been an issue of late. Roma have scored just five in their last five league games and remain five points off the top four with just six games to go. There's ground to make up.
7. Real Madrid (👎 Last week: 6)
For a side so accustomed to winning, the manner of Real Madrid's European exit will hurt.
Los Blancos had billed their second leg with Arsenal as 'La Remontada' but the Spaniards were second-best again at the Bernabeu. Defeat to the Gunners means it's just one win in five for Real Madrid across all competitions. Two huge upcoming Clásico contests could determine their season.
6. Liverpool (👍 Last week: 7)
Liverpool climb back up a place after a much-needed and morale-boosting win over West Ham. It was not entirely convincing from the Premier League leaders, but Virgil van Dijk's late winner was the perfect response to West Ham's equaliser just moments before.

With Arsenal focused on Europe and dropping points again, Liverpool could be crowned champions as early as this weekend if results go in their favour.
5. Aston Villa (👍 Last week: 10)
No side in Europe's top five leagues has won more games than Aston Villa (9) across their last 10 games.
Unai Emery's team eased past Southampton in the Premier League at the weekend to maintain their top-five push, before a valiant – if losing – effort against PSG in Europe. Trailing 2-0 on the night and 5-1 on aggregate, Villa roared back to win 3-2 and get within one goal of forcing extra time. Given how good PSG have looked of late, it was a memorable way to bow out.
4. Arsenal (No change)
Arsenal are into the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in 16 years after securing a famous win at Real Madrid.
The Gunners dropped points in the Premier League with one eye on Europe, but more than made up for that with a 2-1 win in the Spanish capital. Arsenal have now faced Real Madrid four times and never lost, while their quarter-final display was the most impressive of the final four teams. The race for the Champions League is fascinatingly open.
3. Inter Milan (No change)
Inter Milan joined Arsenal in the Champions League's last four as the club's treble dream remained alive.
Lautaro Martinez and Benjamin Pavard got the goals against Bayern Munich to book the Nerazzurri a semi-final spot.
The next week is huge for Simone Inzaghi's side, who face Bologna in arguably their most difficult remaining league assignment and a Coppa Italia semi-final with AC Milan.
2. Barcelona (No change)
Barcelona are another team on course for treble success.
The Spaniards squeezed past Leganes to retain their lead in La Liga last weekend, before progressing in Europe despite defeat at Borussia Dortmund. A four-goal cushion from the first meeting earned progress and set up a semi-final showdown with Inter.
1. Paris Saint-Germain (No change)
Paris Saint-Germain hold onto the top spot despite defeat in Europe this week.
Luis Enrique's side were made to weather a storm at Aston Villa, who roared back from two goals down on the night and 5-1 on aggregate. Fortunately for the French champions, their first-leg win set the stage for an aggregate win.
With Ligue 1 wrapped up and the French Cup final not until May 24th, Enrique can rest and rotate up to his side's seismic showdown with Arsenal in the Champions League semi-finals.

Report: Liverpool weigh £30m sale as Brentford and others show interest

Ben Doak and Liverpool's £30m Opportunity: Smart Business or Short-Sighted Sale? Transfer Turbulence Around Young Talent Liverpool's summer activity has been relentless, with deals flowing in and out of the club in rapid succession. The latest transfer spotlight, however, is fixed on 19-year-old Ben Doak, a name that barely registered with the casual fan last summer but now finds himself a £30m-rated target for a trio of Premier League clubs. Advertisement Per the Hounslow Herald, Brentford are keen to add Doak to a growing collection of ex-Liverpool talent, having already secured the signatures of Caoimhin Kelleher, Sepp van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho over the past two summers. But they're not alone. Crystal Palace and Brighton have reportedly entered the fray, a development that significantly strengthens Liverpool's hand. Sale May Fund Big-Name Targets Liverpool's motivation is clear. While they've already welcomed Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen and bid farewell to Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kelleher, bigger targets are on the radar. Chief among them is Florian Wirtz. Liverpool to recoup funds to help fund Wirtz and more. With the club still engaged in talks over Milos Kerkez and potentially a striker, Doak's sale could serve a broader strategic purpose. His potential may be considerable, but in a summer of reshaping, even promising youth might be considered expendable to fund marquee arrivals. Market Value and Timing Work in Liverpool's Favour Doak's value, and the timing of this interest, place Liverpool in an advantageous position. Ipswich Town had tried in January, but the Reds didn't want to sell. The mood seems to have shifted, and rightly so. The competition between Brentford, Brighton and Crystal Palace all but guarantees a fee close to the full £30m. Photo IMAGO Given that Doak's 2024/25 campaign was hampered by injury after a strong loan stint at Middlesbrough, it's a bold valuation—but not unrealistic. There's enough performance data, promise and Premier League readiness to justify it, particularly in a summer when even mid-table clubs have serious money to spend. Development Versus Immediate Value Selling Doak would be another sign that Liverpool are prioritising short-term gains and proven quality over longer-term squad depth and player development. That may be a calculated risk worth taking, but it will only pay off if their reinvestments—particularly in the Wirtz deal—yield immediate returns. Advertisement It's a recurring theme under Fenway Sports Group: buy low, develop smart, and sell high. In this case, it might be more about selling smart and buying elite. Our View – Anfield Index Analysis There's no doubt Ben Doak has something about him. Pacey, direct, and fearless—he looks every inch a player suited to Arne Slot's dynamic football. His performances at Middlesbrough hinted at serious potential, and despite injury setbacks, most Liverpool fans would have liked to see him get a proper run in the first team before decisions are made. That said, £30m is no small change for a player who's still largely unproven at Premier League level. If that money helps secure someone like Florian Wirtz, a generational talent who could redefine Liverpool's attacking play, then it becomes more palatable. But it always stings to see homegrown or carefully scouted youth sold on just before they might explode. Advertisement Brentford, Brighton and Palace are all clubs with smart recruitment and solid coaching. If any of them land Doak, he'll probably thrive. The worry then is hindsight. If he becomes a star elsewhere, fans will question why we didn't show more patience. Still, given the bigger picture and financial pragmatism required to stay competitive in the modern game, this looks like a sale Liverpool can afford to make—but only if they get the rest of their summer business absolutely right.

Looking at 4 wings Boston Celtics could pick in 2025 NBA Draft

For now, the Celtics' next agenda of the offseason is the 2025 NBA Draft. They hold the No. 28 and No. 32 picks in the upcoming draft, set for June 25-26. So they'll have some options at the end of the first round and the top of the second. The C's could end up making some trades like they've done in the past, but for now, they're armed with two draft picks. MassLive already looked at four potential guards who could be around when the Celtics are on the clock for the draft. Advertisement Now, here's a closer look at four potential wings the Celtics could pick: Drake Powell, North Carolina 2024-25 stats: 7.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 25.5 minutes in 34 games. Shot 48.3% from the field and 37.9% on 3-pointers. There was some thought that Powell could return to college, but he was firm in that he was staying in the NBA Draft process. Powell was a one-and-done product after playing a single season with the Tar Heels as he won't turn 20 until later this year. The counting stats don't pop off the page as took just 5.7 shots per game at North Carolina. However, he had some eye-popping numbers coming out of the draft combine. Powell was measured with a 7-foot wingspan. Notably, he also came in at 37.5 inches standing vertical leap and his max vertical leap was 43 inches. Advertisement The athleticism and defensive potential are both there. His 3-point shooting number looks solid, though it was only on 2.6 attempts per game, and he shot 64.8% on free throws. Still, that's an intriguing prospect at this point in the draft. Adou Thiero, Arkansas 2024-25 stats: 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 27.5 minutes in 27 games. Shot 54.5% from the field and 25.6% on 3-pointers. Thiero comes in with some versatility and a solid frame as he was measured in at 6-foot-6 with a 7-foot wingspan. He's an athletic wing and slasher who could fit well with the Celtics. He started his career at Kentucky for the first two years before transferring to Arkansas, where he was a major contributor. He turned 21 last month, so he's not a super old prospect. Advertisement The knock on him is his shooting as that's just not a part of his game at this point. Thiero does a lot of things well but that's the one area the Celtics would like to see some improvement if they go this route. Thiero also shot 68.6% on 6.5 free throw attempts per game last season, so that doesn't look super promising there either. Hugo Gonzalez, Real Madrid (Spain) 2024-25 stats: 5.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 0.9 assists in 14.8 minutes in 60 games in Liga ACB, per EuroBasket. Shot 44.5% from the field and 28% on 3-pointers. Gonzalez is one of the more intriguing prospects of this draft considering his age and where he's playing. Gonzalez just turned 19 years old and already playing for Real Madrid. He didn't get much playing time at the beginning of the year, though he's seen some more recently. Advertisement One thing about Gonzalez is that he can't go through predraft workouts because Real Madrid just started its playoff run. Considering it's the No. 1 seed, the playoffs could go for a while ahead of the draft. There's a lot to like about his game on both sides of the court, though he'll need to grow into his frame. But considering his age, there's some intrigue there too for NBA front offices. Alex Toohey, Sydney Kings (Australia) 2024-25 stats: 10.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 22.9 minutes in 30 games, per the NBL. Shot 45.2% on field goals. Toohey was committed to Gonzaga but elected to stay closer to home in Australia, where he's developed into a potential NBA draft pick. He was measured in at nearly 6-foot-8 at the draft combine with a 6-foot-11 wingspan. So he brings size and had a maximum vertical leap of 31.5 inches. Advertisement Toohey has shown he can get out in transition but shooting is another question mark. He turned 21 years old last month, so he's not super young but also not that old. Will need to bulk up a bit more to play in the NBA game but can be a versatile defender with his frame. More Celtics content Read the original article on MassLive.
