KTR wishes on National Handloom Day, Praises Telangana Weavers

Hans India2 days ago
BRS Working President and former Minister Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) extended heartfelt greetings to handloom artisans in a message commemorating National Handloom Day. In his remarks, KTR praised Telangana's weavers for their remarkable skill, particularly noting their ability to weave sarees small enough to fit in a matchbox.
KTR expressed admiration for the dedication of handloom workers who have sustained a stable presence in the industry by honouring the craftsmanship passed down through generations. His sentiments were shared in a post on social media platform X.
The former minister recalled a time when the livelihoods of weavers suffered under a previous unity government, asserting that the BRS regime has since revitalised the sector. He credited Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) with implementing innovative schemes aimed at bringing back handloom workers who had migrated to places like Surat and Bhiwandi in search of employment.
KTR highlighted numerous initiatives by the BRS government designed to support weavers, including Chenetha Mitra, Netannaku Cheyutha, Netanna Bima, Bathukamma sarees, loan waivers, and pensions. He acknowledged the hard work of handloom artisans, stating, 'They have turned their nerves into bundles, their blood into colours, their hearts into hearts, and their sweat into sarees, bringing civilization to mankind.'

BRS goes all out to retain Jubilee Hills assembly seat

Hyderabad: The BRS has started groundwork to retain the Jubilee Hills assembly seat, for which a bypoll is likely to be held in the next couple of months. The party is in a do-or-die situation, having won the seat consecutively in 2018 and 2023. The party is also aiming to establish the fact that voters in Greater Hyderabad still support the pink party. In the 2023 Assembly polls, the BRS won all the seats in Greater Hyderabad, except Goshamahal. The by-election has been necessitated by the demise of sitting MLA Maganti Gopinath. Soon after his death, the party organised condolences meetings across six municipal divisions in the assembly segment. BRS working president KT Rama Rao has also kicked off preparatory works, beginning with a meeting of party workers at Yousuguda division on Sunday. He urged the party leaders and cadre to expose the failures of the Congress govt rule in the state. He has decided to hold weekly meetings, each with a different division in the constituency. To mobilise party leaders and ensure coordination, the party has appointed in-charge for each division, including Dasoju Sravan, Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, T Padma Rao and others. They have already started interacting with the local leaders in their respective divisions. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Mix 3 Kitchen Ingredients, Wake Up Thinner Every Morning Get Fit Today Click Here Undo You Can Also Check: Hyderabad AQI | Weather in Hyderabad | Bank Holidays in Hyderabad | Public Holidays in Hyderabad Meanwhile, the party is facing a dilemma whether to field a family member of Maganti Gopinath or nominate a new candidate. The party is not sure whether sympathy for Gopinath will translate into votes in the bypoll. In the Secunderabad Cantonment Board bypoll held in June 2024, the party fielded Niveditha, the younger daughter of former MLA Sayanna, following the demise of Lasya Nanditha in a road accident. However, the Congress' candidate Sri Ganesh won the seat. Party sources said that two of Gopinath's family members, his wife Sunitha and his brother Vajranath, are seeking the ticket. Apart from them, BRS leaders Ravula Sridhar Reddy and former MLA P Vishnuvardhan Reddy are also in contention. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, the son of former MLA P Janardhan Reddy, won the seat in 2009 but lost to Gopinath in the 2014 elections. BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to take a call on the Jubilee Hills ticket only after the notification of the bypoll. Harish seeks Ghose panel's report, plans rebuttal of charges

Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T Harish Rao on Friday urged the state govt to provide copies of the Justice PC Ghose commission's report. The former minister submitted a separate representation to chief secretary K Rama Krishna Rao at the secretariat. According to sources, the BRS leader wants to review the entire report and the basis for its findings in order to take legal action if the govt initiates any action based on the commission's report. As the govt has already announced that it would debate PC Ghose's report, the BRS plans to issue a detailed rebuttal to each allegation made against the party. After the Ghose commission submitted its report on July 31, the three-member committee reviewed the report and gave a 60-page summary of its findings to the cabinet. While the state govt gave a presentation to the ministers and later to the media, former irrigation minister Harish Rao gave a counter-presentation on the Ghose commission's report. Lagacherla tribal women tie rakhis on KTR

Tribal women from Lagacherla village in Kodangal constituency tied rakhis on BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao here on Friday, on the eve of Raksha Bandhan, for standing beside them like their brother when the government had forcibly acquired their land and sent their husbands to jail. A group of tribal women came to Hyderabad on Friday and tied rakhis on the BRS leader. One of the women, Jyothi, who was pregnant at the time of their struggle against 'forcible' acquisition of land by the government, said that the BRS leader had come to their rescue like a brother and named her son Bhoomi Nayak. KTR was a god-send brother to them though they did not share blood, Ms. Jyothi said. The women from Rotibanda thanda of Lagacherla village went to KTR's residence here and said that it was due to his efforts highlighting the issue at the national level, including holding a protest in New Delhi and meeting the National Human Rights Commission, that the State Government was forced to step back on forcible land acquisition. Besides, BRS had also extended legal support to get the men of Lagacherla, jailed in the matter, freed.
