The mechanic was struggling to reverse the BMW estate into his garage, so he put the handbrake on and jumped out of the vehicle.
However, while we was walking behind the car it began rolling down the ramp.
Terrifying footage shows Karl unsuccessfully trying to stop the vehicle by pushing it, as he is forcefully thrown backwards.
The car - which he estimates is 1,800kg - crushes him against the wall before he is seen shouting in agony.
It then comes to a standstill, as Karl is seen desperately yelling for help.
A staff member quickly gets in the car and tries to drive away, not realising it is in reverse.
Karl was crushed again by the reversing vehicle, before the member of staff manages to successfully manoeuvre it away from him.
The wince-inducing video then shows him collapse in the centre of the shop floor, unable to get back up.
His coworker then gets out of the car to help him while he lies doubled up on the floor.
An ambulance rushed him to Manchester Royal Infirmary where he stayed for a week, with doctors telling him he had suffered soft tissue damage to his pelvic area and groin after an MRI.

Karl says he has been unable to watch the CCTV footage back as it is too "traumatic" for him.
He has been left particularly concerned about his "unrecognisable" manhood, as he is unsure if they "work or function" - but he is hopeful it will be OK after the healing process.
Karl, from Hyndburn, Lancashire, said: "My man bits were smashed to bits. They were swollen, they were black and blue and unrecognisable in one bit.
"I don't know if they work or function because the area is very painful and sore still but I think it'll be okay. It was scary for a couple of weeks though.
"It's Final Destination stuff.
"My sensitive man area got smashed into my stomach and the belt buckle went into my stomach. A lot of the damage is soft tissue and nerve damage. Luckily nothing broke.
"It was obviously very painful but I'm not one for being amazingly soft.
"The scariest thing for me was when they had me on the floor and they were trying to put my leg straight and I couldn't bear it because the pain was too bad.
"The fact that I've done drifting racing for 16 years and drag racing and never hurt myself [but have now] injured myself on a random runaway car is pretty unlucky.
"For a couple of days I couldn't really move my right leg and that was scary because they [the doctors] said it had this crushing injury and I didn't really understand it.
"They were talking to people about maybe losing my lower leg and having to cut from top to bottom and I was on a ward with people who had legs off and were having legs off. That scared me.
"I think it's traumatic [the video]. I don't want to see it."
He said they later found out the car had an issue with its handbrake.
They also fitted the car with two new doors and fixed its rear.
Karl said: "Many people have asked what's happened and I've struggled to explain properly so here you go.
"The car was put in reverse twice so that crushed my leg harder into the booth.
"I'm now hobbling about but there's still some pretty grim internal damage and a hole in my groin area. That said I've done way better than the doctors and physio thought I would at this point.
"I've been brave enough to download the video and share it so I know I was dumb trying to stop it it all happened so fast so be kind."
One commented: "You're gonna have to start wearing a Cape now."
A second said: "Lucky lucky man."
A third added: "That could have been a lot worse, glad you're on the mend."

Charles Leclerc sets pace in final practice before British Grand Prix qualifying

Charles Leclerc set the pace as final practice hinted at a tight battle for pole position at the British Grand Prix. The top four cars were separated by just over a 10th of a second as Leclerc edged out McLaren's championship leader Oscar Piastri by just 0.068 seconds. Max Verstappen was third with Lando Norris, who trails team-mate Piastri by 15 points in the standings after victory in Austria last weekend, in fourth. Ferrari underlined the pace they showed on Friday, where seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton topped the charts in FP1. Hamilton was on course to set the fastest time before a red flag curtailed his lap with only a couple of corners to complete, meaning he finished only 11th. The 40-year-old has a remarkable record at his home race, winning a record nine times at Silverstone including victory in the rain last year. He has also finished in the top three in all of his last 11 appearances here but is yet to stand on the podium in Ferrari colours. George Russell was eighth for Mercedes. British driver Oliver Bearman had a horrible moment at the end of the session, which had been red-flagged after Gabriel Bortoleto crashed, spinning nose-first into the wall on the entry to the pit lane. Qualifying for Sunday's race at Silverstone gets under way at 1500 BST.

Sport goes in cycles, says Horner, as Verstappen rumours grow

SILVERSTONE, England, July 5 (Reuters) - Max Verstappen has a contract with Red Bull to 2028 but the chances of the four-times Formula One world champion seeing it out are looking increasingly slim with team boss Christian Horner accepting next year, if not this, could be make or break. Speaking at the British Grand Prix, Horner confirmed the existence of performance-related clauses that the sport's most sought-after driver can activate to leave early. While Verstappen might be able to trigger them in a matter of weeks, according to some sources, it would be a gamble with a major chassis and engine change -- the biggest for decades -- coming in 2026. One popular view in the paddock, despite constant speculation about a move to Mercedes, is that the Dutch 27-year-old is more likely to wait and see which way the wind is blowing before deciding for 2027. "2026 is going to be a transformational year. It's the biggest rule change in Formula One probably in the last 50 years where both chassis and power unit are being introduced at the same time," said Horner. "Nobody, with hand on heart, can know what the pecking order is going to be... It could be Ferrari. It could be Mercedes. It could be anyone. "It'll only be really this time next year that you'll have a clear indication of what that pecking order is. So, there are no guarantees that jumping into a Mercedes car would automatically be a better proposition." That said, and despite claiming Verstappen wanted to see out his career at Red Bull, Horner offered a history lesson to illustrate that Red Bull was prepared for change regardless. He recalled how Sebastian Vettel, another four-times Red Bull world champion, had joined Ferrari a year after a major rule change in 2014 had begun an era of Mercedes domination and Red Bull struggled with an uncompetitive Renault engine. "I remember (the late Red Bull co-owner) Dietrich Mateschitz telling me at the time 'We don't need the best driver if we don't have the best car'," said Horner. "At that stage, it was about building a team... things go in cycles and sport goes in cycles." Red Bull seem to be already in just such a cycle, their 2023 domination slipping away last year along with design genius Adrian Newey, now at Aston Martin. The Honda engines are going the same way from 2026. Highly influential engineering head Rob Marshall is at champions McLaren while Red Bull's veteran consultant Helmut Marko is 82. Vettel has already been mentioned as a possible replacement. Horner's own position has been questioned, with Verstappen's father calling last year for him to go after allegations of misconduct were made by a female employee. The Briton denied them and was cleared after an investigation. "We've had two incredibly successful cycles in Formula One, and what we want to do is build towards the next cycle," said Horner, who also sang the praises of 17-year-old talent Arvid Lindblad. "Now, of course, we want that to be with Max, but we understand the pressure that there is next year, with us coming in as a new power unit manufacturer. The challenge of that is enormous." Red Bull are building their own engine, bringing everything under one roof in a bold move against major manufacturers with vast resources and years of experience in the field. "To expect us to be ahead of Mercedes next year... it would be embarrassing for Mercedes if we were, or for any manufacturer," said Horner. "But I think we're going to be in a competitive position, potentially even to where we are today relative to our other PU (power unit) manufacturers. There's everything to play for." How long Verstappen stays for the ride remains to be seen.

Another blow as drivers' go-to garage with over 200 branches suddenly shuts site for good after string of closures

A LONG-RUNNING garage in the heart of a busy city centre has shut its doors for good — marking another blow for drivers across the country. The National Tyres and Autocare site on St Cross Road in Winchester closed permanently on June 5, after a review by owners Halfords. 3 3 3 It follows a wave of closures for the firm, which runs more than 200 sites across the UK. The garage had served locals for years, but staff have now been moved to the Halfords Autocentre at Martins Trading Park on Easton Lane — about a seven-minute drive away. A Halfords spokesperson said: 'We can confirm that our National Tyres and Autocare garage on St Cross Road has closed following a review of our estate in the area. 'We are committed to supporting impacted colleagues and are offering alternative roles at nearby Halfords locations where possible. 'We'd like to thank our customers for their support and hope to welcome them at our Halfords Autocentre garage which is about a seven-minute drive away in Martins Trading Park on Easton Lane. 'Customers can also access Halfords Mobile Expert – our mobile service that delivers tyre fittings, battery replacements, and other essential services directly to their doorstep.' Halfords did not reveal what will happen to the now-empty site — but it's thought developers could pounce. A nearby Peugeot dealership was transformed into swanky new homes around a decade ago, and the land could now attract similar interest. The closure comes just months after National Tyres shut branches in Huddersfield, Exeter and C roydon, leaving regular customers scrambling to find alternative services. Earlier this year, drivers in Eastbourne were left stunned when their local Kwik Fit branch shut suddenly, with staff reportedly given just days' notice. Elsewhere, a historic MOT centre in Sheffield, open since the 1970s, closed for good in April after soaring rent and repair bills made it 'impossible to keep going'. And in January, motorists in Swansea were hit with a double whammy after both a Halfords garage and an independent tyre shop shut within weeks of each other. And over in Sheffield, a family-run garage that had served the community since the 1970s finally gave up in April after rent hikes and equipment costs became unmanageable. Owner Paul, 61, said: 'We did everything we could. But the bills just kept going up — and people don't come in like they used to.' Industry analysts warn the trend may continue, especially as EVs (electric vehicles) need less servicing, cutting demand for traditional repairs. Why are so many car dealerships closing down? By Summer Raemason According to Business Rescue Expert there are multiple reasons why car dealerships are folding across the UK. The first major factor is rising online car sales which are beating in-person sales at dealerships. With an extensive range of comparison and second-hand sites to chose from, may car buyers don't even step foot into a dealership anymore. Secondly, the actual cost to physically run the sites has soared. Rent, wages and energy bills have all been increasing for roughly the past five years, putting many out of pocket. Car manufacturing across the globe was also hit by a semiconductor chip shortage in 2022 which made it difficult to produce new motors. The high demand with limited supply created a backlog, which although has eased, is still having an impact on the industry. A third reason for recent closures is the shift to electric cars. They are becoming more popular, given the Government initiative to be Net Zero in 2050. The industry is also affected when companies merge or are bought by rivals. This may lead to some independent names falling victim to the ongoing spate of closures. /
