Tik Tok sensation Heather Bowling on Manchester brand success
At just 21, Heather, who is originally from from Ormskirk, has an impressive online platform with nearly one million followers on Tik Tok, successive brand deals and an appearance on series 5 of the popular Youtube series Locked In by Footasylum.
But her hopes for the future? 'Hev', as she's known to her followers, is focusing on business.

The popular up-and-coming Manchester beauty brand By Babes started stocking shelves at the end of 2023 when they released the sought-after serum Lash CEO, which Heather founded alongside Megan Jones, CEO of Deansgate aesthetics clinic Boss Babes Aesthetics.
'It's been crazy and I don't think it's actually hit either of us yet,' said Heather. 'it's just gotten bigger and bigger and bigger as more people have used it, they've loved it and it's just kind of like gone viral.'
Heather initially started out working in social media for the clinic when she moved to Manchester to study Linguistics, but her platform soon grew and before long they were plotting the launch of By Babes, formally known as By Boss Babes.
The internet sensation's growth online has been meteoric, racking up millions of likes and a cult following amongst young adults, resulting in her six night 'freshers tour' around England and Wales last year.
She told the MEN: 'At first I never really had like a strategy plan. I think I just used to post like a mix of chatting videos and then outfits, people started to love it and grew to know me as a person as well.
'I am really proud of myself, but sometimes I get a lot of imposter syndrome and I feel like a fraud in a way, which is dead weird because it is me and I've done it, but like I'm constantly being told online that it's from luck or it's from how you look when it's not and I do owe myself credit where it's due.
'I think it happens with a lot of creators in this industry, because it's like a chance that you get put on the for you page or a chance that the video goes viral, but I think all the creators need to give themselves credit where credit's due.'
Due to Graduate in June, Heather has no plans to slow down as she said she loves the 'constant go, go, go' - balancing a degree, business and career as a full-time influencer.
She said: 'I've always liked that kind of lifestyle where I've got one thing in the morning and then I've got an hour slot and then I've got to plan all this and organize all these trips, I really enjoy it.
'Obviously I graduate in June, so I'm kind of like, I'm not dreading life being a bit slower, but I've said to Megan, like, I want to get in the office more, put me on anything.
'I'll do customer service just so I can remain being busy throughout the week and stuff, I really enjoy the fast pace of it all, although my head is always on another planet because I'm always burned out, but I live for it.'
The duo have big plans for the future of their brand, aiming to release a mascara by April, followed by lip treatments, liners, face masks and eye patches by the end of the year.
The brand are also keen to involve themselves in community events, as they hosted their first event last week at the Everyman cinema in Spinningfileds, a 'Galentines' screening of Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy complete with popcorn and Tik Toks.
For Megan Jones, 24, the future of the brand is clear, and it's all about liberating women and girls.
She said: 'I just hope that it will continue growing the way that it has with people, just being in the community and helping girls feel more confident in themselves.'
'I hope we carry on everything we did for Galentines, because that was just literally perfect, all the vibes in there were perfect.'

‘Nicest Judge in the World' Frank Caprio Dies at 88
Less than a week ago, Frank Caprio posted what appeared to be a self-created inspirational poster that read: 'A life built on kindness is a life that echoes long after we're gone.' Caprio, dubbed 'the nicest judge in the world,' died Wednesday at the age of 88, but it seems his message is sure to live on. The Rhode Island jurist passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer, his family announced on social media. Caprio served as chief judge of the municipal court of Providence, Rhode Island, from 1985 to 2023. He is survived by his wife Joyce Caprio, five children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. 'Beloved for his compassion, humility, and unwavering belief in the goodness of people, Judge Caprio touched the lives of millions through his work in the courtroom and beyond. His warmth, humor, and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him,' his family wrote. 'He will be remembered not only as a respected judge, but as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. His legacy lives on in the countless acts of kindness he inspired.' 'On behalf of my entire family, I want to thank each and every one of you for your prayers, your thoughts, and your unwavering support for him throughout his journey,' Caprio's son David Caprio said in a video posted to TikTok. 'Your love lifted him in ways that words cannot describe.' Many became acquainted with Caprio through clips of the Emmy-nominated courtroom reality TV series Caught in Providence that were shared on social media over the last decade. The show, which was produced by Caprio's brother Joe Caprio, initially aired in 2000, then returned to TV screens from 2015 to 2017. The series went into national syndication in 2018 and was renewed for a second season in 2019, but ended in 2023 when Caprio retired. After his retirement he was given the ceremonial title of 'Chief Judge Emeritus' and his courtroom was renamed in his honor. Caprio was known for his compassion in the courtroom, as videos of him treating defendants with empathy and respect gained more than a billion views on social media and earned him the title of 'the nicest judge in the world.' Caprio's Instagram account and Facebook profile each amassed 3.4 million followers, while his TikTok had 1.6 million followers. Earlier this year, he published a book titled Compassion in the Court, outlining lessons he'd learned from his life and career. Caprio, the son of an Italian immigrant who worked as a fruit peddler, once told his alma mater Suffolk University's law magazine, that he believed Caught in Providence resonated with people because, 'they feel that they are talked down to and scorned. In the 100,000 or so comments I have gotten from viewers around the world, the most common words are compassion, understanding, and fairness. I think we have given them a sense of hope through the decisions I make.' He said he leaned on 'the rule of common sense' when considering leniency toward defendants and did not view verdicts that made the defendant's life worse as justice. At times, Caprio would bring the children of defendants up to the bench. In one case, he asked a six-year-old girl to help him decide on the verdict for her mother who faced a $100 fine plus additional penalties amounting to a total of $300 for parking on the sidewalk. Caprio gave the defendant's daughter four options: charge the full amount of the penalties, waive the penalties but keep the $100 fine, reduce the fine to $50, or waive the fine entirely. 'What would you do to be fair about this whole thing and how much would you charge?' Caprio asked. The girl chose the third option, but Caprio offered her another deal. 'She buys you breakfast when you leave and I'll dismiss [the case], is that a good deal?' Ultimately, she agreed. 'I don't wear a badge under my robe,' Caprio was known for saying. 'I wear a heart.' While remembered for his time as a judge, Caprio also had a political career. He served on the Providence City Council from 1962 to 1968 and ran as a Democrat for Attorney General of Rhode Island in 1970 but lost to Republican Richard J. Israel. He served as a delegate for five Democratic National Conventions. In December 2023, Caprio announced he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, completing radiation treatment last year. On Aug. 19, Caprio shared in a video from a hospital bed that he had suffered a health setback. 'I ask you again, if it's not too much, that you can remember me in your prayers,' he said. The internet is resonating with Aubrey Plaza, who for the first time in seven months has opened up about her husband Jeff Baena's death. During a recent appearance on the "Good Hang with Amy Poehler" podcast, Plaza compared her grief to the 2025 action horror film, "The Gorge."
