Update in search for man's missing head

Perth Now22-07-2025
Police will launch new efforts to find the remains of South Australian man Julian Story, who was allegedly killed by his former reality TV star partner.
Former Beauty and the Geek contestant and model Tamika Chesser has been charged with the murder of Mr Story on June 17, with police alleging she cut off his head.
Officers have so far been unable to recover Mr Story's head, with the wide-scale search for the Port Lincoln man's remains halted earlier this month.
Police revealed on Tuesday that information received by investigators and the use of specialist equipment had identified several additional search sites in and around Port Lincoln. Tamika Chesser has been charged with the murder of Julian Story. Credit: Supplied
'In the days following the (alleged) murder, Major Crime detectives, local police, Water Operations Unit and the SA State Emergency Service conducted extensive searches around Port Lincoln without success,' Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke said.
'New search areas have been identified and by undertaking these renewed searches, we hope to find Julian's missing remains, which will give comfort to his family and allow them to peacefully lay him to rest.
'Police have reviewed a significant amount of CCTV footage since the incident which has provided a number of investigational leads.
'We also appreciate the ongoing assistance the community of Port Lincoln has provided throughout the investigation.'
Ms Chesser, 34 of Port Lincoln, has been charged with murder.
She appeared on the reality TV show Beauty and the Geek in 2010 and worked as a model and content creator since. Police continue to investigate Ms Chesser's movements in the week of the alleged murder. South Australia Police Credit: Supplied
SES volunteers, police divers and local patrols spent days looking for all of Mr Story's remains across reserves, parks, ocean and bushland in and around Port Lincoln.
Police will allege Ms Chesser murdered Mr Story at their unit complex in Port Lincoln about midnight on June 17, decapitated him and later set fire to his body on the afternoon of June 19.
'We know that after his alleged murder, Julian's body was dismembered and while I won't provide any further detail about that at this time, I can tragically say that we have not recovered the head of Julian Story,' Superintendent Fielke told reporters last month.
'I can only imagine, and I want you to imagine, the grief this news is causing Julian's family.'
Ms Chesser was allegedly found at the apartment building in a 'catatonic and unresponsive' state when she was arrested, court documents read. She was taken to James Nash House, a psychiatric facility.
Ms Chesser has also been charged with assaulting an emergency worker. She is scheduled to front court on July 31 for the assault case, and the murder charge is expected to be called in a higher court in December.

Cocaine Cassie Sainsbury denies burning client at Adelaide beauty salon

Don't miss out on the headlines from SA News. Followed categories will be added to My News. Convicted South Australian drug smuggler Cassie Sainsbury has been accused of leaving a customer with burns after a cosmetic procedure at her beauty salon in Adelaide's inner north. A woman, who spoke on condition of anonymity, claims she received a series of burns on her hips following a Liposonix treatment administered by Sainsbury – using her married name Cassandra Prada – at her Luxe Body Contour business in Walkerville. The woman said she needed antibiotics to stave off an infection caused by the burns, which she claims Sainsbury said were 'welts'. 'She kept saying the machine was running a bit hot … but it was all fine,' the woman said of Sainsbury, better known as Cocaine Cassie. When contacted by The Advertiser, Sainsbury said she noticed the client's skin was 'not responding typically' but the woman 'insisted' she continue. Cassie Sainsbury. 'I made the professional decision to immediately stop the treatment, despite her insisting it continue,' she said in a statement. 'We are talking about a treatment that has been performed on many clients and not once had an issue – however all treatments with heat can carry a risk unfortunately.' Sainsbury said that she was fully qualified to perform the treatment in question, and the client had signed documentation 'acknowledging potential skin sensitivity risks'. She added that no official complaint has been lodged with any regulatory authority. The woman said she sought treatment from Sainsbury on the recommendation of a friend, but had no idea the convicted drug trafficker was operating the salon until she went in for an appointment. 'She didn't do anything to me so I didn't want to judge her. She came across as a lovely girl,' the woman said. The Adelaide personal trainer was caught with a suitcase containing 5.8kg of cocaine in Colombia in April 2017, just minutes before she was due to board a flight home to Australia. She spent less than three years in a Bogota prison before being released. She returned home to live in Adelaide in 2022 alongside wife Tatiana, whom she met through mutual friends in a Colombian nightclub in 2021. It's understood Sainsbury launched the business in 2023, offering 'luxurious, advanced beauty and body treatments' including HIFU, or High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, and Liposonix. Both procedures are non-invasive, designed as an alternative to a facelift (HIFU) or to sculpt the body without need for surgery. One of the burns alleged received by a former client of Sainsbury. AFP PHOTO But hours after the third Liposonix treatment on her hips, the woman claimed she developed blisters from the ultrasound machine, and had to go see a doctor. She was prescribed antibiotics. 'Cassie just told me to take antihistamines. She kept referring to the burns as welts,' she said. The woman said Sainsbury refunded her for the procedure and offered scar treatment for the burns. But the woman has gone public to warn others of the dangers of the procedures. Sainsbury said she remained in contact with the client, provided after-care and resolved the situation 'professionally, transparently, and in good faith'. 'To now misrepresent it publicly – after accepting support and compensation – is not only disingenuous but clearly malicious in intent,' she said in a statement. Convicted drug smuggler Sainsbury opened Luxe Body Contour in 2023. Picture: David Swift Last year, Luxe Body Contour was honoured with a Global Recognition Award, which described the salon as a 'pioneering body contouring business led by Cassandra Prada'. Previously located in the Adelaide Hills and in FitWorld Fitness in Klemzig, Luxe Body Contour opened its Walkerville salon in May, with plans to open another shop in Mount Barker in September. Sainsbury released a book about her ordeal in an infamous South American prison in September last year. Titled Cocaine Cassie, she said the book would allow readers to 'walk in her shoes as a prisoner in one of the most notorious prisons out there'. 'I've been keeping a secret from you all… and I'm finally ready to share it. It's taken me four years to write this and to be okay with sharing my experiences in a very dark world,' she captioned an Instagram post. 'This journey is a way to deal with my traumas and to be at peace with some pretty unimaginable things.' Sainsbury also revealed she was raped during her time in Colombia's El Buen Pastor jail, admitting she was sure she wouldn't make it out of there alive. South Australia to ban phones, personal devices in childcare centres

South Australia will be one of the first states to ban the use of personal mobile phones in childcare centres. The regulations will be implemented across all childcare and early learning centres in an effort to strengthen safety and 'better protect young children across the state'. The South Australian and Victorian governments are among the first to implement the National Model Code, which includes the ban of mobile phones, tablets, iPads, and other devices capable of taking photos or videos, personal storage or files transfer. South Australia's Education Minister Blair Boyer said: 'The safety and wellbeing of our children is paramount, and we are working quickly to strengthen the safety requirements for long day care services and preschools.' 'All providers in South Australia must now ensure they have provided their policies and procedures to ban the use of personal mobile devices to our independent regulator. 'This ban is in line with changes recently announced by the Victorian Government and demonstrates our commitment to child safety.' As part of the ban, the Education Standards Board (ESB) will also conduct 'spot checks' across childcare and early learning centres to ensure the ban is being implements. ESB chief executive Ben Gramola said a large number of centres had already implemented the code, which was 'great to see' and highlighted a proactive approach that many in the sector were taking to address concerns. 'Services who do not comply with this ban may be subject to regulatory action including placing conditions on their service approval,' he said. predator help box All childcare and early learning centres will be required to provide assurance and a copy of the documents to the ESB before the end of September. Businesses that fail to adhere to the policy risk a fine of $50,000 or suspension. The move comes after urgent calls for childcare reforms following the alleged abuse of multiple children as young as five months at a childcare centre in Victoria. Joshua Brown, 26, is facing 70 child abuse charges including sexual penetration of a child under 12, producing child abuse material, and contaminating food with bodily fluids. He is alleged to have abused eight children at the G8 Education-owned Creative Garden Early Learning Centre in Point Cook between April 2022 and January 2023. New laws passed through parliament last week enable the Commonwealth to withhold the Childcare Centre Subsidy (CCS) on centres that repeatedly fail to meet standards. Childcare operators with a bad history will also be prevented from opening new centres, and parents will have access to information on whether a centre has been subject to conditions if it has had its CCS application rejected. The Coalition has called for further measures, including a national approach to Working with Children Checks and a national register of workers. Education Minister Jason Clare has said work on a national register is ongoing.
