The current affairs observer also highlighted several incidents that have gone unpunished. An image of an upside down Jalur Gemilang hoisted in the apparent vicinity of the Kota Damansara Mosque was attached. The UMNO Youth Terengganu's gaffe in using a Jalur Gemilang that had the wrong number of stripes in a social media post was also appended. Both were used by the poster to ask the seemingly pertinent question – 'why only the Chinese are accused of wrongly displaying the Jalur Gemilang?' One commenter reflected his sense of unease at wanting to show his patriotism, claiming UMNO has 'kidnapped the flag'. Instead, he will keep his love for Malaysia in his heart for fear of reprisals. This was a clever electoral ploy by UMNO, claimed one commenter, by painting the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition as weak and unable to react accordingly in protecting the non-Malays which forms a strong base for its support. He predicts that this ploy is with the aim of challenging PH as direct rivals in the next general election. However, one commenter asked why not encourage Chinese and Indian citizens to fly the flag correctly instead of asking to refrain from doing so. Isn't the flag as symbol of unity? To which the poster conceded that this was, indeed, a great idea (though he has not modified his post to reflect this). To put the current state of affairs into perspective, another poster shared on X how such a scenario was handled in a rather professional and sem fuss manner in China. A short clip showed two policemen seeing a flag hoisted wrongly in front of a business premise. Instead of threats of arrest or some other brouhaha, the two officers simply corrected the flag and gave it a respectful salute once it was the right way up. Lamenting that too many keyboard warriors were spreading messages of hate in Malaysia, one commenter argued that this would be a sensible and mature attitude to have. N. Sembilan Dept Heads, Civil Servants Told To Fly Jalur Gemilang At Home
SEREMBAN, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan government has made it mandatory for the department heads and civil servants in the state to fly the Jalur Gemilang and state flag at their residences until Sept 16. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said department heads, including those living outside of the state, are required to display the two flags at their homes, adding that other civil servants must fly at least the Jalur Gemilang. He said the State Secretary's Office had issued a circular on the matter two days ago to nearly 7,000 state civil servants in conjunction with this year's National Day celebrations.

PULO Welcomes Anwar's Efforts To Resolve Southern Thailand Conflict

PULO President Kasturi Mahkota said Anwar's recent statement had brought renewed hope to the people of Pattani, who have long yearned for justice, peace, and a comprehensive, fair, and lasting resolution to the Pattani issue. bootstrap slideshow 'We are confident that Malaysia's approach that is based on diplomacy, dialogue, and mutual respect will pave the way for constructive negotiations,' he said in a letter addressed to Anwar recently. During an Aug 8 visit to Kelantan, Anwar announced that Malaysia was prepared to act as a mediator to resolve the conflict in southern Thailand and endeavour to end tensions between the warring parties. He said Malaysia would step up efforts to promote peace in the region so that the people could continue their studies in Islam and to raise the profile of the Malay language. In addition, Kasturi stressed that PULO was fully prepared to cooperate and provide all necessary support to ensure the success of the mission. 'We also believe this effort will further strengthen the existing bond between the people of Pattani and Malaysia,' he said. Kasturi also expressed hope that the effort would be blessed and that it would lead to everlasting peace.
