Iconic Actress Recalls 'Crazy' Run-In With Taylor Swift: 'I Hate Myself'
The 10 Things I Hate About You star detailed the "crazy" run-in she once had with in the Wednesday, May 21 episode of the podcast How to Fail, where she begrudgingly opened up about meeting the superstar at a 'game night party' they were both invited to.
Stiles, 44, joked, 'God, I hate myself right now," as she dove into the tale. "The biggest name-dropping I could do—but it happened and it's awesome.'
Swift, she said, just "has that presence" where you "could just feel" her entering the room. She wasn't planning on bothering the Eras Tour artist that night, but as she was getting ready to leave, someone intervened, letting her know that Swift was interested in saying hi to her.'...he was like, 'She really likes your work,'" the actress recalled, adding that she "blacked out" as they shook hands. "I don't remember, actually, what happened after that—but she said something very nice to me.'
Stiles further 'dissociated for a second' while the two chatted, but eventually "worked up the courage" to praise the musician. "You're amazing; this is crazy," she told her, recalling the way she "looked like she genuinely appreciated it."
While "there used to be a part of [her]" that insisted she "play it cool" when crossing paths with another actor or artist that she admired, more recently she's "discovered that everybody that's a performer wants to know people are listening to their music or watching their movies or care at all."
Now, she's "totally, unselfconsciously ready to say" how fantastic she thinks somebody is.
'Even somebody like Taylor Swift, who is the biggest star on the planet, seems humble enough or just positive enough to be like, 'Yeah, I'm glad that bazillions of people like to listen to my music,'" she pointed out. "They don't take it for granted.'

Titled after her book of the same name, Until Now showcases 150 of Geddes images at the New Art Museum in Tübingen, including the identical triplets slumbering in a man's hands - still one of her most iconic. Saved Treasures of Gaza Where: The Institut du Monde Arabe (Paris, France) When: Until 2 November 2025 Documenting over 5,000 years of Gaza's cultural and archeological history, 'Saved Treasures of Gaza' is a powerful reminder of what has been and what's at stake for a country currently facing war and famine. From the small marble statue of a goddess, to the astonishing Abu Baraqeh mosaic, most of the 130 masterpieces on show have been kept in storage at the Geneva Museum of Art and History until now, unable to be returned to Gaza due to the unsafe conditions. Safely preserved, they now act as vessels for Palestine's richly storied identity - a way to connect people to the past, and reinforce hope for the future. Bonus highlight: To celebrate the 250th birthday of the celebrated 'Pride and Prejudice' author, Jane Austen's House is hosting 'Austenmania!' until 4 January 2026 (Hampshire, UK). Even if it was a preseason Week 2 tie, that still has to be like seeing a bald eagle. The New Orleans Saints sent defensive tackle Khalen Saunders to the Jacksonville Jaguars for center Luke Fortner on Sunday, Aug. 17, after the two teams tied at 17. Saunders and Fortner still managed to end the day as enemies despite switching teams. Saunders won two Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs prior to starting 27 of 30 possible games over the last two seasons for the Saints. He started for the Saints on Sunday. Fortner entered for the Jaguars as a backup. Saunders had one of the most notable moments in prime time during the 2024 season. During the Saints' Week 5 loss to the Chiefs, Saunders picked off Patrick Mahomes while dropping into coverage in the end zone late in the third quarter. Saunders, listed at 325 pounds, rumbled 37 yards up the field before being brought down. Coincidentally enough, his brother, Kameron Saunders, was a backup dancer for Taylor Swift on the "Eras Tour." Khalen Saunders was a third-round pick by the Chiefs in 2019 and spent his first four seasons of his career with the team. During the offseason, the Saints bolstered the defensive line by trading for Davon Godchaux and signing Jonathan Bullard. Fortner is a fourth-year guard from the University of Kentucky who lost his starting spot last season and is entering the final year of his rookie contract.
