New global innovation hub at Bengaluru airport city to boost innovation in AI and critical industries

Bengaluru Airport City
Ltd. (BACL), and consultancy firm ANSR on Tuesday launched a Global Innovation Hub, District I, to support deep-tech entrepreneurship, enterprise-driven innovation, and the commercialisation of academic research.
Under the initiative,
Global Capability Centres
(GCCs), IT service providers, accelerators, corporate labs, startups, VCs, academia, and public institutions will develop a collaborative ecosystem. The focus will be on developing advanced technologies, including AI, quantum computing, blockchain, and customer experience technologies.
The government stated that the hub will foster innovation in critical industries, including aerospace, space technology, smart cities, retail, banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI), manufacturing, telecommunications, and defence.

Spread across BACL's Business Park cluster, which is a subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), the district will be 28 million sq. ft, which will house R&D hubs, a separate education and health district and lifestyle offerings.
Karnataka's IT-BT, Secretary, Ekroop Caur, said, ' With the Global Innovation Hub, we are creating a platform that brings together every part of the ecosystem to collaborate, innovate, and lead globally. This is a key step toward making Bengaluru the world's next great innovation capital.'

During the launch, BACL said the district project will be more than just a physical space and aims to capture the ethos of work, play, live, learn, and create, offering startups and enterprises a vibrant ecosystem backed by world-class infrastructure.
'District I is central to our long-term vision of building a future-ready, innovation-led economy, one where ideas spark, collaborations thrive, and entrepreneurs drive meaningful change,' said Rao Munukutla, Executive Director, BACL.
Founder of ANSR, Lalit Ahuja, said Bengaluru has the potential to strengthen its position with a globally benchmarked innovation platform. 'By uniting startups, service providers, GCCs, academia, and public infrastructure on one seamless platform, we are setting a powerful flywheel in motion that will propel the next wave of breakthrough technologies from India to the world.'
The BACL already has several facilities operational, including a central kitchen and a state-of-the-art 3D printing unit. Upcoming projects like India's first airport-based concert arena and a modern convention and exhibition centre are expected to strengthen BACL's position as both a cultural and business destination.
The area will also feature around 5,200 hotel rooms. As part of its development as a smart city, it will focus on five key areas: built environment and city management, urban mobility, energy, safety and security, and environment and water.

But Srila Prabhupada's teaching goes much deeper. He is not encouraging us to seek the Divine because of mere material benefits or financial success. According to Prabhupada, that would be limited and futile. He is instead urging us to have a much deeper comprehension of what life truly is and who grants us the grace to lead a fruitful life. Prabhupada teaches that the answer lies in our own understanding that the best kind of performance in any activity, not just a job, is when that activity is conducted and presented as an offering to the highest level possible—a tribute to the Divine.

Critical minerals push: India to make rare earth magnets in Hyderabad; G Kishan Reddy says move to cut China reliance
India will begin domestic production of rare earth magnets in Hyderabad in a bid to reduce reliance on Chinese imports and strengthen its position in critical technology manufacturing, Union Coal and Mines minister G Kishan Reddy said on Saturday. Speaking to ANI, Reddy said the Centre has tasked the National Institute for Transforming Science and Materials (NFTSM), under the Ministry of Mines, with driving this initiative in partnership with industry players. 'The central government has decided to produce rare earth magnets in Hyderabad. Our Mining Ministry's NFTSM institute is working diligently, along with various industries, to manufacture the necessary machinery,' he said. Reddy added that a demonstration of India's indigenous capabilities in manufacturing permanent magnets would be ready within the next 3-4 months. 'This initiative involves collaboration between industry, mining, and other ministries, and has been discussed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Central Government is working seriously towards the production of rare earth magnets,' he said.
