Taylor Swift's website starts mysterious countdown amid new album rumors

USA Today6 hours ago
The Swiftie plot thickens. A series of social media posts on Monday morning sent fans of Taylor Swift into a frenzy of excitement and anticipation as theories started to fly about a potential announcement. It all started with a post from the New Heights podcast — hosted by Jason Kelce and Swift's boyfriend Travis Kelce — teasing a surprise show on Wednesday night with an exciting guest. The accompanying silhouette looked suspiciously like Swift, and the glittery orange background was very different from the usual yellow one that is featured in every other thumbnail for the show.
Shortly after — 12 minutes later, to be exact — Swift's official social account Taylor Nation posted a series of 12 pictures. All 12 pictures featured the 14-time Grammy winner in her various orange tour outfits, and the post included a reference to her "see you next era" sentiment at the end of her Eras Tour book.
A handful of likes on the New Heights Instagram post, including Swift's best friend Ashley Avignone and Swift's record label, made the clowning dial up a notch further.
With the potential podcast appearance set for August 13, which is Swift's favorite number, fans couldn't help but notice the abundance of the number 12 through this whole process. Twelve is notable here as the next Swift album will be the singer's 12th, so some hypothesized that an announcement of some sort could be coming on August 12.
Well, buckle up folks. Monday night Swift's official website updated to have that same orange glittering background as the New Heights podcast post with a countdown overlayed that would end at 12:12 AM ET on August 12.
I guess we'll just have to stay tuned to find out what we get.

Taylor Swift announces 12th studio album

Taylor Swift has announced her twelfth studio album The Life of a Showgirl, after an intense 24 hours of speculation from fans. Rumours began on Monday morning, when the singer's marketing team posted a carousel of 12 photos with the caption "Thinking about when she said 'See you next era…" In the hours that followed, her boyfriend Travis Kelce confirmed that she would be a guest on his podcast New Heights and Swift's official website began a countdown to 00:12 ET (05:12 BST). The pop star's eleventh album The Tortured Poets Department, released last year, broke the Spotify record for being the most-streamed album in a day. The title of the album was announced on social media with a clip from Kelce's podcast, and simultaneously made available for pre-order on Swift's official website. The release date for the new music is yet to be confirmed. After years of headlines during her record-breaking Eras tour, Swift appeared to have a relatively quiet start to 2025. In May this year, it was announced that she had bought back the rights to her first six albums, ending a long-running and highly publicised battle over the ownership of her music. After her original masters sold, she vowed to re-record all six albums, which became known as "Taylor's Versions". To date, she has re-released four of the original six. Swift announced her purchase of her original masters with a heartfelt letter to fans, where she wrote that the final two albums would "have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right." The singer wrapped up the Eras tour in December 2024, after playing 149 shows in 53 cities. In the UK alone, she played to almost 1.2 million people, including eight nights at Wembley Stadium. The tour generated an estimated £1bn for the country's economy. Why is Taylor Swift so big? Taylor Swift Fans Convinced She's About to Collab With A-List Pop Star

Taylor Swift Fans Convinced She's About to Collab With A-List Pop Star originally appeared on Parade. Fans of , known as Swifties, are counting down the minutes until the singer's big announcement on Aug. 12, but until then, they continue to speculate on what's coming next from the star. One major theory is that a collaboration is coming, with Swift teaming up with one of the biggest names in music right now, . While Carpenter opened for Swift on a bunch of her Eras Tour dates, what started the speculation about an upcoming collab was the official Taylor Nation update on Aug. 11 with the caption, "Thinking about when she said 'See you next era…' ❤️‍🔥." Related: The post included a bunch of photos of Swift on the Eras Tour in orange outfits, with the last snap one of Swift and Carpenter performing together during a "surprise songs" section of one concert. Fans immediately started trying to connect the dots, with comments about Carpenter's inclusion like, "A SABRINA COLLAB???!!! OH I'M READYYYY," and, "WAIT IS THE LAST PIC A HINT FOR A SONG WITH SABRINA?????" "And a Sabrina collab comingg?!?! 👀," wrote another Swiftie. The speculation grew when, after Swift launched the countdown on her official website, a peculiar change was noticed on Carpenter's website as well. One fan highlighted the detail, which showed the front page of Carpenter's site featuring the text, "August 12th, 2025," above her previous update about her upcoming album. While many fans confirmed that Carpenter's website updates daily to show the date, others questioned why, if the page is updated according to the user's timezone, the site changed to Aug. 12 early, on Aug. 11. Along with this, at the time of writing, the main page listed Aug. 12, while Carpenter's store page still read Aug. 11, adding to some fans' belief that the detail held significance. Only time will tell if Swift's big announcement on Aug. 12 includes a connection to Carpenter.
