Samsung's Mixed Reality headset ‘Project Moohan' launching alongside Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 [UPDATED]
The original story from June 11, 2025 follows below: At the tail end of last year, Samsung introduced Project Moohan: an MR ( Mixed Reality ) headset that will challenge the Apple Vision Pro. The headset was later spotted at Galaxy Unpacked back in January of this year, but there hasn't been any mention of a release date, until now.Project Moohan will reportedly be launching alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 next month, according to a reliable source. Samsung's new foldables are coming out in early to mid-July, and we might even hear about a Galaxy Z Flip 7 SE.
The headset will be running on Google's Android XR, which is exactly what it sounds like: an Android-based operating system for XR ( Extended Reality ) devices. Google and Samsung showed off Android XR in action last year as well, and it's basically a direct competitor to visionOS. Just like the Vision Pro, headsets running Android XR can be worn in public for various practical applications.
Google Maps providing directions in Android XR. | Image credit — Google The Project Moohan headset, which might end up being called something else, has a myriad of checkboxes to tick to be a competitive offering. For starters, it absolutely has to be an affordable product. The Vision Pro 's $3,499 price tag was a dealbreaker for even the most diehard XR enthusiasts, so Samsung's headset has to cost significantly less.Secondly, it has to have a purpose for existing. Gaming remains the biggest reason that people buy VR headsets today, something that Apple did away with in order to do things its own way. Apple admitted that was a mistake by introducing support for PSVR2 controllers on visionOS 26 at WWDC this month. Samsung not only needs to support today's best VR games, but also provide other practical applications for the headset too.
Lastly, the headset needs to be comfortable. If Project Moohan cannot be worn for more than 30 minutes without getting uncomfortable, it won't see the mass adoption that Samsung hopes for. Hopefully, the company has learnt some lessons from the Vision Pro and will make its headset a lot more pleasant to use.
I think it highly unlikely that Project Moohan will compete with the Meta Quest 3 or Quest 3S when it comes to price. Meta's headsets remain the most practical choice for people just looking to play some VR or MR games. But if Samsung prices it right and markets it better, I definitely see a market emerging for Project Moohan. Especially after there was no news about an Apple Vision Pro 2 at WWDC. Fold 7 and Flip 7 price leak reveals a huge hike for one 2025 foldable
Fold 7 and Flip 7 price leak reveals a huge hike for one 2025 foldable Samsung's Unpacked event will take place on July 9, the day after tomorrow, and we seem to know pretty much everything about the devices that will be announced. Price is still something of an unknown, and if a couple of new reports are to be believed, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be pricier than its predecessor, but the Flip 7 will not go up in price. Foldable phones are already more expensive than conventional phones, and this is one of the reasons why most people continue to stick with conventional handsets. Book-style foldable phones , in particular, are jaw-droppingly expensive. Samsung raised the price of the Fold by $100 last year to $1,899.99, and the Fold 7 is expected to be even more expensive. According to leaker Yogesh Brar, the Fold 7 will get a price jump in India. The price is expected to increase from INR 149,999 (~$1,748.87) to around INR 175,000 to INR 179,000 (~$2,087). Alleged Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip 7 FE prices in France. | Image Credit - Dealabs The Fold 7 is also likely to be pricier in France, with leaker @billbil_kun revealing that the 256GB and 512GB models will cost €100 more, while the 1TB variant will be €160 more expensive. A Dutch website had previously also said that the Fold 7 would be more expensive than its predecessor, though this was rebuffed by Roland Quandt, who said the price would remain the same, at least in Germany. With most sources indicating prices may rise, this rumor cannot be easily dismissed. After all, the Fold 7 will pack a slew of improvements, including a thinner and lighter body, larger inner and outer screens, and a 200MP main camera. The Flip 6 starts at $1,099.99 in the US, and @billbil_kun claims the Flip 7 will cost the same. That's even though this phone will also be a significant upgrade and will flaunt a thinner profile, larger screens, and a bigger battery. Today's leak has also revealed the Flip 7 FE's price, which will be a stripped-down version of the Flip 7 . This device will start at €999 (~$1,172.12), which will make it €200 (~$234.65) cheaper than the Flip 7 . Given that the Fold 6 struggled in the market, it doesn't sound like a good idea to increase its successor's price. On the other hand, Samsung may think that the hike is justified because of the various improvements. Customers may not necessarily be willing to pay more for the improvements, which many might say were long overdue anyway. On the bright side, the Flip 7 FE will serve as a entry point for customers who have long been eyeing customers but were deterred by high prices. Leaked Samsung chart reveals what makes Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE special
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 | Image Credit - PhoneArena Samsung's upcoming foldables continue to leak. The latest info has apparently come straight from Samsung. Samsung will announce the Fold 7 , Flip 7 , Flip 7 FE, and Galaxy Watch 8on July 9. The products have been leaking left, right, and center. The new leak shows us a comparison chart listing the core specs of the Fold 7 , Flip 7 , and Flip 7 FE. It was posted by tipster Roland Quandt and is apparently part of Samsung's official promo materials. Alleged promo image reveals Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip 7 FE's core specs. | Image Credit - Roland Quandt Samsung is targeting different market segments with each of its bendable products. The Fold 7 is touted as a "big and versatile" product. As countless rumors have said, the inner screen has grown to 8 inches, but despite being larger, the phone will still have a 4,400mAh battery. The leak appears to confirm that the 50MP primary camera will be swapped out for a 200MP main camera. Samsung's foldable phones have always lagged behind conventional phones in camera specs, but a higher-resolution main sensor will close that gap. Curiously, the leak implies the phone will only be available in 256GB and 512GB options, but that's likely only true for a few markets, as a 1TB model reportedly also exists. Quandt also says that this will be the thinnest and lightest book-style foldable phone from Samsung. The device will be 8.9mm thin when folded and 4.2mm thin in the unfolded state. It will weigh 216 grams. The outer screen will be 6.5 inches. The Fold 7 will be Samsung's thinnest and lightest Fold phone ever. | Image Credit - Roland Quandt The Flip 7 will be marketed as a "compact and accessible" device. It's also going to have a larger 6.9-inch internal display as well as a bigger 4,300mAh battery. The device will come in 256GB and 512GB flavors. The document also mentions the Flip 7 FE's core specs, which will be a watered-down version of the Flip 7 . This device will also have a 6.9-inch inner screen, but it will come with a smaller 4,000mAh battery. The base model will have 128GB of storage, and there will also be a 256GB variant. The Flip 7 FE will probably be powered by a home-brewed Exynos chip, while the flagship foldables will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite. While today's leak doesn't reveal anything we didn't already know, it makes the previous rumors more believable, since it comes from a reliable source. Samsung was faltering on foldables, while the competition was churning out thinner and lighter phones. The company appears to have learned its lesson and revamped foldables with a new design and updated core specs will likely do wonders for sales numbers. The next king of foldables might materialize at the very beginning of 2026
Naturally, all eyes are on the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked (July 9), but Samsung is not the only company that makes foldable flagships – and that's the case for many years now. Those among us who dig the exotic foldable form factor know that there's a thing called OnePlus Open – and for a substantial period of time, it was among the very best foldables out there. Released in 2023, it was among the best foldables to get even in 2024 – and in the fast-evolving world of tech, that fact alone speaks volumes. I'd argue that foldable aficionados on a budget will enjoy the OnePlus Open even in 2025. That's because the phone offers bright displays, smooth multitasking, strong cameras, solid performance, and excellent battery life with superfast charging. That's why we were kind of saddened to learn there would be no OnePlus Open 2 in 2025. However, the long faces on our end didn't last for very long, since the Oppo Find N5 happened, a device that's incredibly potent, stylish and capable. "The foldable king", that's what we called it a while ago. The Oppo Find N5. | Image by PhoneArena That's what we imagined the OnePlus Open 2 to be, generally speaking. Oppo and OnePlus are closely linked because they share the same parent company, BBK Electronics. Over the years, the two brands have increasingly merged their research, development, and manufacturing processes. OnePlus, originally positioned as a more independent, enthusiast-focused brand, now shares design elements, software, and hardware with Oppo, making their products and strategies closely aligned. The Oppo Find N5 impresses with several standout features that make it a top-tier foldable. It is incredibly thin for a foldable phone, yet stronger and more durable than before. Its hardware design is sleek and elegant, offering a great, large screen without feeling bulky. The Find N5 also delivers reliable camera performance, making it a well-rounded device for both everyday use and multimedia. That's why I'm personally hooked about its eventual successor – I don't care if it's called Oppo Find N5 or the OnePlus Open 2 , as long as real innovation and respectable specs are announced. When would that announcement happen, you might ask? In the first three months of 2026, if the preliminary information by well-known Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station turns out to be true. So far, nothing else is rumored about the potential Find N6, but could this be among the first phones to utilize the next-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset? I certainly believe so.
