Noida: Moderate rainfall on Friday led to waterlogging at several locations in the city. A 500-metre patch in Sector 62 that connects the Delhi–Meerut Expressway and NH-9 was among the worst hit.
According to IMD, Noida recorded 26.5 mm of rainfall on Friday, with a maximum temperature at 27.7 degrees Celsius and minimum at 25.8 degrees Celsius compared to Thursday's maximum of 26.9 degrees Celsius and minimum of 25.8 degrees Celsius.
The sudden flooding brought vehicles to a standstill and forced commuters to wade through the streets.

"Driving through a waterlogged street is like driving in a swimming pool.
We can't see the road, and every minute we worry the bike will stall or hit a pothole hidden under all this mess," said Rajesh Kumar, a commuter.
A Noida Authority official said the problem arises because excess stormwater from Khoda flows into Sector 62, inundating the area. "We are planning to widen Noida's drains to accommodate the stormwater," the official added.
A commuter, Shivendra Chaturvedi, posted on X about a traffic jam at Gaur Chowk due to the rain.
Deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Lakhan Singh Yadav, however, said, "The traffic remained smooth on key stretches like the DND Flyway, Noida Expressway, and Kalindi Kunj on Friday."
Ghaziabad, which has been battling waterlogging issues ever since the start of the monsoon season for the past month, also witnessed a similar situation on Friday but in localised areas. The Kala Patthar Road was completely inundated in the morning, while areas along NH9 like Bamheta, Vijay Nagar, and Kala Patthar reported similar issues.
"On Kala Patthar Road, the Makanpur side, it was fully waterlogged. We had to place wooden planks at the entry of our shops to create space for customers from within waterlogged streets," said Arun Singh, a shopkeeper. The bylanes of Makanpur village were also completely inundated.

Clouds bring relief to Ludhiana; Met warns of more rain ahead.

Ludhiana: Residents of this city enjoyed a break from hot, humid conditions on Monday as cloud cover and a light breeze kept temperatures near normal, though the weather bureau has warned of unsettled conditions through the week. According to the India Meteorological Department , the maximum temperature in the city was 33.2 degrees Celsius — normal for the season but slightly higher than Sunday. The minimum temperature dipped to 25.2 degrees, which was 0.4 degrees below average and nearly two degrees cooler than the previous night. Forecasts suggest fluctuating conditions ahead. From Tuesday through Friday, Ludhiana is expected to see partly cloudy skies with occasional rain or thunderstorms. Daytime highs could fall to 32 degrees by Wednesday, edge back to 33 degrees on Thursday, and then dip to 31 degrees by Saturday. Minimum temperatures are forecast to rise to 28 degrees on Tuesday before easing to 26 degrees by the weekend. Residents welcomed Monday's respite. Gurjinder Singh, who visited a local market, said it was the first time in days he had not sweated through the walk. "I hope the weather stays this way for many days," he said. Sudden showers, gusty winds bring relief to scorching Indore, heavy rain likely

Indore: Sudden showers accompanied by strong winds on Monday afternoon brought much-needed relief from humidity to Indoreans. Around 12:30 pm, dark clouds gathered over the skies, followed by a spell of rain accompanied by strong winds that lasted nearly half an hour. Though the downpour eased, cloudy skies lingered before sunshine broke through briefly. Within an hour, however, the city was again covered in dark clouds, leading to continuous rainfall until about 4 pm. The Met department recorded 17.25 mm of rainfall within half an hour from 12:30 pm to 1 pm and 28 mm of rainfall till 5:30 pm. Indore has so far recorded 14 inches (352.8 mm) of rainfall this season, well below the usual 21 inches (533 mm) expected by mid-August. Weatherman, however, expect a turnaround in the coming days. "A system over Odisha and an active monsoon trough across Malwa-Nimar are likely to bring good rainfall for the next four to five days," said Dr Divya Surendran, Met scientist from IMD Bhopal. She added that multiple synoptic systems, including a developing low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal, are expected to sustain the wet spell. The IMD has also forecast heavy rain, gusty winds, and thunder at isolated places across Madhya Pradesh, particularly Burhanpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, and Alirajpur on Tuesday. With the second half of August forecast to be wetter, experts believe many districts could complete their rainfall quota within the month. For Indore, Monday's showers were a welcome sign of the monsoon regaining momentum. The unexpected showers brought mixed reactions from residents. While many welcomed the rain for cooling the atmosphere, others had to navigate through waterlogged roads. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). BMC conducts patchwork repairs on battered stretches in Salt Lake

1 2 Kolkata: Cashing in on the dry spell, BMC has started conducting patchwork on the damaged road stretches in Salt Lake, which were battered due to the recent heavy rain. On Monday, civic authorities conducted patchwork on the stretch connecting Purta Bhavan to the CGO Complex crossing. "Repair work will be conducted on all damaged roads before Durga Puja ," said an official. Large craters and potholes have developed on several stretches of the avenue and crossroads in Salt Lake. Many of the stretches were repaired earlier this year. Not only the main thoroughfares, but the condition of roads inside some of the blocks is also in a dismal state, with no repairs taken up for years. Civic officials said they will also talk to the contractors about why road surfaces are getting damaged within a few months of being repaired. "There are three to four years of agreements with the contractors who are engaged for road repairs. They will be asked to do the needful," said an official.
