Baahi.xomoy.com streams songs in Assamese, Bodo, Mising and more
Mrinmoy Kumar, the founder of Baahi (Baahi.xomoy.com), the first Assamese music streaming platform, says the idea of the app came from a longing to listen to Assamese songs while away from home.
As a student from Tezpur in Assam, Mrinmoy was pursuing his BTech in Odisha. Some new, some old searches on various streaming platforms did not meet his need. He felt the need for a platform for those who love listening to Assamese music. While he was in Odisha as a student, Mrinmoy did his research and realised that some platforms include popular albums of selected popular artistes. His focus was on building a platform dedicated to Assamese songs, including Assamese folk.
Once he returned to his hometown, Tezpur, Mrinmoy started to work on his idea aggressively. He recalls, 'I discussed my idea with some childhood friends. They jumped in immediately, because my thoughts resonated with theirs. Now Krishanu Kashyap and I run it.'
Baahi, a unit of Xomoy Innovatives Pvt Ltd was founded to try and plug the following deficits — no dedicated regional content streaming platform, an unavailability of digital content in various Indian languages, and the untapped market for diverse North Eastern music and culture. Baahi currently has Assamese, Bodo, Mising, Karbi, Tiwa, Koch and Rajbonshi music. They are working to include song from states of Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram.
From Borgeet to Rock and from Classics to modern Pop, the platform has something for everyone. The founders say their user-friendly interface and personalised recommendations make it easy for a listener to discover new music and connect with local musicians. Currently they have over 4,00,000 users of the app. 'This apart we have over 2,00,000 unique website visitors every month,' added Mrinmoy.
Apart from streaming regional music, the app also caters to original individual music. 'We wanted to be a platform that allowed individual artistes to introduce their music. Several independent artistes go unnoticed for lack of a platform,' says Mrinmoy.
The platform was just a thought until the end of 2020.
Mrinmoy began working on the app with help from coding videos on YouTube. 'Computer Science was my background in BTech, so it was easy for me to understand. We started approaching record labels to access database of classics from artistes such as Bhupen Hazarika. Most of the old songs are with record labels such as Saregama/HMV. We procure those songs/albums on rental rights. We also noticed that certain songs, especially from classic Assamese movies, were not digitised. We also worked on digitisation of songs. So, while we were developing the app, gathering a database of songs, we were also learning about the industry,' Mrinmoy explains. They function with a 12-member team.
The platform lists over 30,000 songs from more 10,000 artist in the above said languages. Some of the most heard and popular artists are Zubeen Garg, Papon, Deeplina Deka, Prabin Borah, Bhupen Hazarika, Dwipen Baruah, Khagen Mahanta, Asha Bhosle, Sonu Nigam (Assamese songs) etc.
Right now the app is freemium model, where users can use the app without paying with ads and limited features. 'But can purchase subscriptions for additional features and ad free experience,' added Mrinmoy.
What next? The team also plans on launching of video/audio based podcasts. Their goal is to increase Baahi Original content, host second edition of Baahi Music Fest. 'We are soon going to begin work to introduce movies of NE on rent,' added Mrinmoy.

India to host first global cultural games in New Delhi in December
New Delhi: India will host the first-ever Global Pythonova Pythian Games in the National capital, New Delhi, from December 3–5, 2025. The announcement was made during the '3rd National Executive Council Meeting' of the Pythian Council of India, held in New Delhi under the leadership of Bijender Goel, founder of the Modern Pythian Games and founding secretary general of the International Pythian Council. He was accompanied by Shantanu Agrahari, President, and Siva Kumar, Secretary General of the Pythian Council of India. Inspired by the ancient Pythian Games of Greece—one of the four Pan-Hellenic Games held in honour of Apollo at Delphi—the Modern Pythian Games revive this cultural legacy after nearly 1,630 years. The games, originally focused on excellence in music, poetry, arts, and prophecy, were envisioned anew in 2020 by Goel and formally launched in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Delegates and executive members from various Indian states attended the meeting, engaging in strategic discussions to promote the Pythian Games at the local and global levels. In a press briefing following the meeting, Goel revealed that the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) has assured full cooperation in this global cultural initiative. He also shared details of his recent constructive discussions with Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, raising hopes for inclusive participation. Goel announced that the International Delphic Committee (Russia), Ecumenical Delphic Union (Greece), and the Government of Cyprus have officially endorsed the Modern Pythian Movement. 'The ancient Pythian Games were one of the four Panhellenic Games of Greece, dedicated to the god Apollo, and were held in Delphi. These games were a celebration of excellence in art, music, poetry, and prophecy, and served as a major centre for cultural exchange. After nearly 1,630 years, Bijender Goel conceived the idea of the Modern Pythian Games in the year 2020, and it was formally announced in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the movement has spread globally and has become a significant platform dedicated to art, tradition, and cultural diplomacy,' he said. "In a world full of divisions, the Pythian Games offer a global platform for unity through culture," he said. He further added that a centralised franchise model will be introduced for the Pythian Games at the global, national, and local levels, to ensure transparency, accountability, and a streamlined functioning." Shantanu Agrahari, President of the Pythian Council of India, announced that the next National Pythian Games will be held in September/October 2025. He stated, "These national games will serve as an important training ground for Indian artists and participants." He further added, "India's rich cultural heritage and young talent make it a suitable host for global events." Unlike conventional sporting events, the Modern Pythian Games are the world's only multidisciplinary cultural games, celebrating art, culture, heritage, traditional sports, and creative technology under one unified platform. 'In a world divided by differences, the Pythian Games offer a global stage for unity through culture,' said Goel. He also announced a global-to-local franchise model for the games to ensure transparency, accountability, and streamlined operations. The games serve as a complement to the Olympic Games, offering a global stage to disciplines not represented in the Olympics, such as art, heritage, traditional sports, and creative technology. Kumar emphasised that the Indian operations are guided by an international charter and supported by various governments, cultural institutions, and professionals around the world.

Dil Raju denounces industry practice of buying YouTube views for trailers, songs: ‘Don't want to fake numbers anymore'
Producer Dil Raju attended the trailer launch of his upcoming film Thammudu, starring Nithiin. He opened up about the industry practice of buying YouTube views for trailers and songs, announcing that he's denouncing it. Here's what he said. (Also Read: Allu Aravind backs Pawan Kalyan and questions theatre bandh during HHVM release; Dil Raju claims 'miscommunication') Raju stated at the event that he has directed his PR team not to buy any views on YouTube for Thammudu's trailer or songs. He said, 'I've been meaning to talk about this for a while now, and I must address it today. Whatever views you see on YouTube for this film are original. I've told my PR team and everyone working for me that the numbers must reflect real views. I do not want to fake numbers anymore.' He stated that he's adapting this practice so he knows beforehand, as a producer, how much the audience is really interested in his films. 'I want to know how many views my songs or trailers bring in so I'm prepared for how much reach it'll have upon release. When we're buying views, there's a large number for us to show, but we don't really know if it's reaching the intended audience. Even if it's difficult, I've decided to take the first step in doing this,' explained Raju. When everyone looked shocked at the tangent his speech took, Raju claimed that he wasn't stating anything 'controversial', reasoning that it's the only way producers can 'correct' themselves. 'I am not saying anything controversial. I believe we (producers) will know how to correct ourselves only when we see genuine numbers. If the film is worth it, people will watch it anyway. Look at how Sankranthiki Vasthunam became an all-time record. Court also became a super hit. 2025 has proved that all we need is good content.' In January this year, Raju was called out by the press for releasing a poster for the Ram Charan-starrer Game Changer, claiming it earned over ₹186 crore worldwide on its opening day, when in reality it earned that amount in its lifetime. He defensively said, 'I've already said we (producers) have weaknesses we can't discuss. I admit that, no. Don't you know how much the film has already collected? So you calculate and put out posters for films now.'
