Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara: Chapter 1 is set to transport audiences back in time, delving into the origins of the story introduced in the original film. Shetty will reprise his role in the sequel, with a poster, unveiled on his 42nd birthday, depicting him as a tribal warrior and hinting at a dramatic backstory. 'Where legends are born and the roar of the wild echoes. Kantara, a prequel to the masterpiece that moved millions,' the makers wrote at the time.
The first Kantara film, set in a fictional village, follows a Kambala champion who clashes with a principled forest officer. Released in 2022, it became a pan-India hit and earned Rishab Shetty the prestigious National Award for Best Actor. Kantara Chapter 1 will hit theatres on October 2, 2025.
